I love this author! This book was no exception. I gave it the full five stars because once I started I could not put it down. I thought I had it figured out but I was wrong and honestly I appreciate that. You will want to put this book on your list to read!
I really enjoyed this book. It captured my attention from the very beginning, and I enjoyed hearing the stories of all of the people in the neighborhood. The book kept my interest and kept me wanting to read more. However, I was not entertained by the ending of the book. I had higher hopes and thought it was a little anticlimactic
Heidi and Freddie have just moved to a new neighborhood, and the neighbors seem nice enough, but are they just acting? Upon moving in, Heidi meets one of their new neighbors, Willow. Apparently, Willow and Freddie were "friends" years ago in high school. Freddie doesn't seem very happy to see Willow, and he clams up anytime she mentions their past.
The story is told, alternating from 3 points of view; Heidi, Willow, and Dylan. As the story unfolds, transcripts taken from police interviews are interspersed throughout, leaving the reader wondering what crime occurs in the future. What secrets are all the neighbors hiding??
Thank you to NetGalley for the opportunity to read this ARC in exchange for my honest opinion/review.
Even perfect homes can have secrets. Secrets that are hidden so well, no one really knows what is going on.
So much drama!
So many mysterious things going on!
Secrets galore!
Each and every character in the story is hiding secrets.
Perfect reading for those that are fans of domestic thrillers.
Thank you NetGalley, Bookouture and the author for the opportunity to read this book for my honest review. All opinions expressed are my own.
The folks of Huntington Grove are every kind of bonks and I am there for it but this is exactly what I have come to expect from the fabulous Kerry Wilkinson. He absolutely never lets me down. Mwah!!
It starts out with a 999 call that immerses the reader in the story from the first second and it never lets off the gas (petrol, ha) from there. Wilkinson creates tension masterfully and I just couldn't put this one down.
Thank you to the publisher for gifting me a copy. It is my pleasure to write an honest review.
My thanks to Bookouture and NetGalley for giving me the opportunity to read ‘Home Is Where the Lies Live’ written by Kerry Wilkinson in exchange for my honest and unbiased review.
No sooner do Heidi and Freddie move into their new house in Huntington Grove than Freddie says he isn’t comfortable and wants to move somewhere else. Heidi can’t understand why although she senses an unusual connection pass between Freddie and their neighbour Willow from across the road. Then there’s Dylan whose wife Ciara was murdered three years ago and cares for their seven-year-old daughter Orla, and Alison who’s in charge of the street’s summer party. All of them are keeping secrets.
‘Home Is Where the Lies Live’ is a dramatic story with the secrets and lies the main characters of Willow, Heidi, Dylan, Alison and their respective families are keeping. The story is slow but the characters are so intriguing that I couldn’t stop reading and was unable to put my Kindle down even if I’d wanted to. The plot is intricately woven with chapters interspersed with police statements as it gradually moves towards the Saturday when a gun is fired. Kerry Wilkinson’s novels are so different that as a reader I never know what to expect, and although this is slower than most of his novels, the story is still gripping and one I’ve thoroughly enjoyed.
You just never know what goes on behind closed doors! This explosive thriller explores just that. I was hooked from start to finish.
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 5 Star read for me
Home Is Where The Lies Live by Kerry Wilkinson is a gripping and suspenseful thriller that kept me guessing from start to finish!
Plenty of twists and intriuging characters. I was suspicious of every character not knowing who could be trusted.
We move between the main characters Heidi, Willow and Dylan and their families, along with other residents of Huntington Grove. Kerry has written in a way where nothing is hard to follow, even with the detail that is given to each family and side characters.
It's packed with secrets and surprises you won't see coming. A tale of trust, betrayal and the lengths people will go to protect their truths.
A very easy read. I didn't want to put it down!!!
Perfect for fans of fast-paced mysteries/ twisty, fast-paced thrillers.
Thank you to NetGalley, Bookouture and Kerry Wilkinson for this ARC in exchange for my honest review
Thrilling domestic drama set in a neighborhood over a week's time. While every street may have their own secrets, this one has more than most as the author takes us on a wild ride unveiling each one! Very well done!
Many thanks to NetGalley and Bookouture for this ARC!
This is book # 5 for me by Kerry Wilkinson. I had a hard time connecting with some of the characters - there were so many with all different points of view. I thought it was just ok and I was very confused with the ending. Maybe it’s just me? Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for this advance copy for my honest review.
Home Is Where the Lies Live by Kerry Wilkinson will have you questioning just how well you really know your neighbours or if you do, indeed, know them at all.
Heidi and Freddie have moved into the neighbourhood of Huntington Grove and are gearing up to attend a block party, eager to meet their new neighbours. But when Freddie runs into a former classmate, Willow, secrets slowly come to the fore, and it is clear that most of the residents of their new neighbourhood are not exactly who they would seem.
This was more of a slow burn domestic drama than a psychological thriller. I did find the narrative to be, at times, chaotic, but things dovetailed quite nicely in the end. I particularly enjoyed the inclusion of the sporadic police transcripts.
Many thanks to NetGalley and Bookouture for an ARC.
This book started off great, than kinda fell flat. I felt it had a lot of secrets, it was kinda hard to continue reading but I did. I don't regret it though
I was so intrigued by this book and the premise. Unfortunately for me it fell flat, it was suspenseful, but I wouldn't consider it unputdownable. It just fell flat for me. It was missing something for me to truly keep me hooked and engaged.
Home Is Where The Lies Are was a fantastic read with so much drama right from the start. Set in an idyllic neighborhood, it does nothing to keep the lies, secrets and deception out.
Welcome to Huntington Grove, full of eclectic people where no one is as they appear.
Heidi and Freddie move to Huntington Grove and are anxious to meet their new neighbors. When they meet one of their neighbors Freddie gets all twitchy and Heidi can't figure out why.
Willow, Gabe and Willow's daughter Isabella are the neighbors across the way. They appear to be the kind of neighbors you can be friends with, but appearances can be very deceiving.
Next up is Alison,Kenneth and Kenneth's mother. These neighbors are as puzzling as an advanced jigsaw puzzle.
And lastly, there's Dylan and his precocious daughter Orla. Their wife/mother was murdered three years prior and they both are trying to navigate forward and figure out how to put their lives back together.
This book was beautifully written and easy to follow. It's told through the multiple POV'S of some of the characters and mostly in the present with a few chapters of the future woven in. This was my first read by Kerry Wilkinson and I will definitely be checking out others written by him. I highly recommend for lovers of domestic suspense with a neighborhood setting.
Thanks to Netgalley and Bookouture for the advanced copy
Enjoyed!!!! All I kept thinking was how many secrets are there in this one neighborhood and do my own neighbors have secrets like these. This book really got me thinking and I loved that. So I really liked that each character had something to hide and that they would do anything for it to be kept hidden. It was also fun once all the lies started to unravel and with that it brought all the drama along. Who doesn’t like drama???? As long as it’s not mine, I am all for it. I also want to say that this story really kept me on the edge of my seat and I was hooked from the very first page. It was hard to put down. I had to get to the end to find out what happened and why it happened. When I did I was totally shocked. I didn’t see that one coming at all. I really like this author and all the books I’ve read by him so far. I can’t wait to read more by him.
Thank you to netgalley and the publisher for this ARC.
I'm fast becoming a big dan of Kerry Wilkinson's work but I have to admit this wasn't my favourite, although I can't put my finger on why. I didn't really like the police interview parts of the book.
3.5 stars rounded up for this one.
I am a big fan of Kerry Wilkinson's books and I am always happy when he brings out a new one. I have read three or four so far, and this story is a bit of a mixed bag.
I think the main problem with it for me was the pacing. The first half of the book drags somewhat, and occasionally feels repetitive. The characters also don't seem particularly likeable or interesting.
However, the great strength of the book lies in the portrayal of the character of the single father and his young daughter, still struggling from the senseless murder of their wife and mother respectively. Their relationship is portrayed with great tenderness, as is their grief and the need to heal from it.
The book picks up speed and suspense abruptly towards the end. All the loose ends are tied up and everything suddenly makes sense. Overall, the story is definitely worth a read, but the reader might do well to skim through the first 60% and pay attention in the last 25%.
3.5 stars, rounded up to 4

Heidi and Freddie move to a new house in a neighborhood. Heidi discovers Freddie his hididing secrets, locked in his home office. Willow, Gabe and Willow's teenage daughter live across the road. Willow and Freddie went to school together, but Freddie does not want to talk about it. Gabe goes out late at night, with no explanation to where he has been or what he has been doing. Dylan and his daughter Orla live next to them. Dylan's wife was attacked and murdered 3 years ago, and the killer was never caught. The mystery of who did it consumes him. Next to them are Alison and Kenneth. Kenneth is often away on business, but his very traditional Asian mother is with Alison, always keeping an eye on her. Everyone in this neighborhood has secrets, and they all conveniently unravel during a neighborhood party.
This was a fast-paced book from multiple viewpoints.
This was such a good suspense novel. Multiple of viewpoints and different timelines. The characters also have their own storyline along with a bigger one at play. This story is more of a slow burn than a fast-paced thriller, which allows plenty of time to dig into each character’s complicated life. Just when you think you’ve figured out the mystery, another layer is revealed, keeping you on your toes until the very end. Wilkinson does a fantastic job of weaving together each resident’s storyline. Overall this book held my attention and I finished it in a weekend.
The book opens with a 911 call and we know something has happened but unsure with who or what exactly has occurred. Just your everyday friendly neighborhood... or is it? There are Heidi and Freddie who have purchased their first home but there something odd going on with Freddie... he is keeping his office locked and not allowing Heidi to enter which maker her very suspicious of her husband. Then there is Willow and Gabe, another couple hiding secrets... Gabe is out at all hours of the night and Willow has major concerns of what her husband is up to. They have a teenage daughter Isabella, but Gabe is not her father. Dylan has a daughter Orla and is a single parent (his wife was murdered just a year or so prior), trying to navigate this role as well as he can. But Dylan is experiencing dark thoughts and some impulsive behavior. Alison is married to Kenneth who works a lot overseas. Alison is the neighborhood organizer, a role she takes very seriously but annoys others...
Overall a solid 4 starts
This was a slow read for me because although a lot happened it felt slow paced. It was too easy to pick up and put down rather than feeling I had to keep reading. NetGalley stated this book is a thriller which was why I read it. I don’t consider this a thriller, more of a domestic drama which is the genre shown on Goodreads. It was a little bit all over the place and I was constantly waiting for the thrill and the twists which just didn’t come. That said if there was a follow on book about the characters I would read it but I’d know not to expect a thriller. I’d like to know what happened next because I felt it was left up in air. I was going to rate this three stars because it didn’t deliver as a thriller. However as a domestic drama it does deserve four.
Thanks to NetGalley and the publishers for the ARC in return for my honest and unbiased opinion.
