Perfect Fit is a second-chance love story with Josie and Will, the twin brother of Josie's bff from high school, as they try to navigate a long-simmering feud from high school, Josie's anxiety about her clothing business, and Will being involved in that. I selfishly loved reliving parts of Austin through the book and I mostly liked Josie and Will, but the story bugged me. I found the underlying feud to be pretty petty and the overreaching descriptions at times annoying (I don't need you to give your coffee a cutesy name, for real). I enjoyed the narration, just some of the other things threw off the flow so that I didn't really get invested in the relationship. All in all it was a decent book, just not my favorite. Thank you to Recorded Books and NetGalley for the early listen in exchange for my honest opinion.

Katherine Leonard nailed it! Josie and Will are perfection!

Perfect Fit is thoughtful, kind and oh so swoon worthy. The characters are exceptionally crafted and I especially loved the strong and supportive female cast of characters!

This was a reread for me and I will definitely continue rereading it to heal my soul.

I loved it so much and genuinely wish it wasn’t over. Thank you Clare Gilmour for the biggest and best book hug of 2024!

4.5⭐️s The hype was real. Josie is a strong entrepreneur but everyone has their moments of weakness. This book played out the reality of how growing a business can take its toll while being incredibly fulfilling too. Will is everything Josie wants and in some ways what she needs. Loved them! Available now!

Synopsis:
Josephine Davis has spent her entire twenties building Revenant, a fashion brand headquartered in downtown Austin. When her biggest investor orders Josie to hire a consultant, the last person she expects to be working with is Will Grant – the twin brother of her ex best friend.

Sure, Will and Josie may have shared one mistake of a kiss during senior spring break nine years ago, but they’ve never been friends. She remembers him as moody; he always thought of her as shallow. Romance isn’t on the table for either of them until they blink, and realize there’s a reason they can’t stay away from each other. But there’s Will’s sister to consider, whom Josie hasn’t spoken with since their falling out. Not to mention, Will and Josie live seventeen hundred miles apart. And it’s not like she has time for a boyfriend anyway when she’s an overworked CEO. As Josie’s burnout looms while she falls deeper and harder for Will, she contends with the fact that eventually, she’ll have to make a choice: stay alone to be productive, or slow down to be in love.

I went into Perfect Fit expecting romance and I'd say it halfway met my expectations. There is a romantic aspect to the story, but this is mainly a story about Josie, her role as a fashion CEO, and her growth. Josie was an interesting character, and I appreciated her perspective. Will was less compelling - he was almost too perfect to allow us to focus on Josie. Perfect Fit could have dug a bit deeper into Will's character and Will and Josie's dynamic.

This book makes me think of the Taylor Swift lyrics “to you I can admit that I’m just too soft for all of it.”

This was a soft romance that made my heart feel warm! It wasn’t anything flashy, it was simply two people being honest and vulnerable with each other, and always showing up.

Thanks so much to St. Martin's Press/St. Martin's Griffin for the eARC and RBmedia for the ALC. These are my honest thoughts.

Clare Gilmore does it again. What a sweet story of second chances, adventure, reconnection, and taking care of yourself. This story follows Will and Josie as they reconnect when Will literally runs into the back of Josie's car with his bicycle.

Their stories are intertwined in multiple ways, from past to present. Josie and Will's twin used to be BFFs, until she caught Will and Josie kissing once. They never reconnected. Josie's company inquired about using Will's company as a consulting firm, but Will declined because of a conflict of interest... but when Will finds out who is going to get the bid, he steps in and takes on the job to protect Josie.

As they begin working together, feelings come back to the surface. Try as they might, old feelings come roaring back to life. As Will and Josie spend more time together, going on bike rides, attending dinner parties, traveling the globe, they're both inspired to make some different choices for their lives... which leads to the possibility of more. More time, more dream chasing, more reconnecting, more forgiveness, more trust in oneself... it was so real and real life, I can't help but to love it.

The audio was amazing! I loved Katharine Leonard as the narrator. I think is my first book from her, but she really brought Josie to life for me!

This book gets a very solid 4-star rating for me!

This was really cute! I liked how this was more than just a typical rom-com, it included struggles that many people could have and made the book more realistic. I also liked the narrator, she did a really good job with this!

I'm not usually one to talk about Book Boyfriends, but Will Grant might change my mind! He's the sweetest and most thoughtful MC I've read in a long time. He always met Josie where she was at and was constantly doing what he could to make her life easier. I loved it!

I liked Josie's character too--her workaholic tendancies are certainly relatable, and I totally could see myself in her. (I'm not quite as much of a badass, but find it hard to say no at work at times).

Their romance is slow-burning, but the banter between the characters makes it a quick read. I appreciated that the third-act conflict felt realistic, and there wasn't any absurd miscommunication that's so common in rom-coms.

I'm an instant Clare Gilmore fan, and already can't wait to see what's next! (I just bought Love Interest!)

I really enjoyed this audio book, I wasn't sure at the start but then got very invested and wanted to know more after this one ended! This is my first book by the author and I will definitely be checking out more. I gave this 4.25 on my reading apps. I would highly recommend this book to anyone I don't particularly read alot of romance but this does cover some serious topics also including burnout. Well narrated also. Thanks to netgalley and the publisher for the audio arc.

**Perfect Fit**
by Clare Gilmore
Narrated by Katharine Leonard

I eagerly began listening to the audiobook, drawn in by the intriguing premise, but I soon found myself losing interest and unable to connect with the characters on a deeper level. Josephine Davis, a passionate and driven CEO, has dedicated her heart and soul to her beloved clothing company, Revenant. She has invested her entire personality into making it a success—a labor of love that resonates throughout the narrative.

However, when her biggest investor unexpectedly orders her to hire a consultant, Josie is taken aback to discover that the last person she wants to work with is Will Grant—the twin brother of her former best friend. This twist adds a layer of tension that could have been exciting, yet the execution fell flat for me.

Additionally, the narrator, Katharine Leonard, while talented, did not provide enough distinct voices for each character. This lack of differentiation made it difficult for me to keep track of who was speaking, leading to confusion about the plot and story on several occasions. I had high hopes for this audiobook, but unfortunately, it turned out not to be the perfect fit for me this time around.

3.5-3.75 rounded up.

Narrator: The narrator chosen for this story is a good fit. She brought the story and each of the characters to life and her voice felt like a good match for the main character.

Story: This is a childhood/teen friends to lovers story. Forbidden romance.

Overall I enjoyed this story. The characters were fun and enjoyable to read. I liked the relationships the main character had with her friends and the growth with her and the male main character. The main character showed personal growth throughout the story.

The story started off well for me, but toward the middle it did feel like it was dragging on. I could have done without the hooking up scenes, but this is personal preference. The author included other scenes between the female main character and her love interest showing their growing connection and care for one another. Again, Personal preference.

I do think a lot of romance readers would enjoy this book. I do like the author's writing style and I would give this book another try.

Thank you RB Media and NetGalley for the opportunity to listen to this audiobook.

Clare Gilmore has done it again! She's quickly become one of my favorite contemporary romance authors and I loved the banter and chemistry between our main love interests!

Clare Gilmore did it again! Perfect Fit was such a fun read. It really is for the girl bosses out there. I did not know I needed a second chance romance with an overworked CEO where the love interest is her ex best friend’s TWIN brother but I did! The re-meet cute was so funny and unexpected! Josie was a joy to read and so relatable, despite being a CEO under 30, and that is a testament to Gilmore’s writing. Will is one hundred percent book boyfriend material and I will leave it at that because I do not have enough words without giving spoilers. The cover is lovey and Katharine Leonard’s narration really added to the reading experience. I highly recommend picking this one up!

This book was about corporate life, love, having it all and finding yourself with the one you love.

I really liked this audiobook. The narrators were awesome too!

Many thanks to Net Galley and RBMedia for an audio ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Clare Gilmore writes the most lovely stories! Josie is such a hardworking character who needs the gentle but firm reminder that her worth is not tied to her grind, and she deserves all the love and peace. Will is adorable, definitely making me swoon throughout the whole story. Will is able to love Josie in the most special way she needs, giving her space but being consistent in showing his intentions. I love the way these two have a second chance at meeting each other, at actually knowing the other despite years old misconceptions.
they truly are the perfect fit and I was touched at the beautiful, honest, gentle way they showed it throughout this whole story. thank you for the alc :)

i like to begin my reviews with general thoughts. however, in this case, i’ll start with characters because i liked them much more than story/plot:

josie i really liked the main character, Josie. i connected to her in so many different ways; mostly to her habits and the way she thinks. she can’t see anything expect her work and even though i found her annoying i couldn’t deny similar characteristics.

will again, he was doing some crazy annoying stuff as an adult but his love toward josie covers everything he did. he is the most patient person i’ve read about lately. he was there every time she needed him; he made her feels safe and helped her overcome workaholism and challenges on her way.
-
they did wrong as teenagers, we won’t deny it. but zoe did wrong too. i really think is important to communicate! please!!! they just had to talk to figure everything out.
-
why 3 stars? too many scenes i skipped. i believe the book could be shorted and it would be more investing that way. but still would recommend for fast readers!🤍

anyway, work trip scenes…🤭

Thank you NetGalley

Josephine has been focused on her business to the exclusion of most anything else in her world. It started out as hobby and with then social media took over and with the help of her best friend and an amazing investor she is living her dream. When her investor forces her to hire a consultant, she is reunited with an old friend/crush/brother of her former BFF. Now that Will is back into her life she is forced to deal with some emotions from the past and yet she is so clenched it takes her almost falling apart and losing it all to figure out what matters most and correct her trajectory. She is doing her best to keep it together and keep all the wheels on the bus, but social media giveth and can just as easily take away. It was an interesting listen to Josephine finally letting go a bit and finding her center with Will, the consultant, her former BFF and most importantly, finding her own center. The narration added to the listening experience.

I consumed this book whole. I had a few days off from work and I listened to this one while doing laundry and cleaning the house. It was sweet and a little bit sultry but also wholesome and complete. Josie and Will are both established adults with established lives and when they literally collide sparks fly and the past comes back to low key haunt them.

Will and Josie’s work relationships quickly evolves into so much more and in the process they are forced to deal with the pieces and people they left unfinished seemingly a lifetime ago.

This one is such a wholesome and fun read. I loved it. You will too. Swear it.
