Am I Being Unreasonable is exactly what you expect, a funny, lighthearted collection of the best of Mumsnet. It would make a good gift for a new mum (or long suffering one) in the same way a cat lover might enjoy a book about how to speak cat.
Funny, at times hilarious, but ultimately just a collection of posts with little to no added value to them. This would make a nice coffee table book, or a gift for that one family member you never quite know what to buy for. This is a 2.5 rating rounded up.
Quirky, funny and well-edited selection. Some of AIBU’s top-rated responses are curated for us in this book.
The majority were funny or interesting.
I have been following Mumsnet for years and always read different questions so this was a very interesting read to see what experiences are common / what advice is available, funny and informative. .
No me gustó el formato del libro, creo que era mejor que cambiara el formato porque la verdad que, al hacerlo "moderno", lo arruina
Absolutely brilliant! A hilarious look at the questions that are posed to Mumsnet member. I laughed out loud, rolled my eyes and nodded in agreement throughout. I would recommend this book.
A fun coffee table book and a great conversation starter for new mums. The same kind of satisfaction from watching a string of Tiktoks reading Reddit stories, but I do like that it caters to new mums who may benefit from a sense of community and fun who understand the stress that they’re under.
Thanks to NetGalley for this ARC!
This book is a collection of questions and answers from the infamous Mumsnet forum. Its definitely the lighter side of Mumset and gives examples of people asking if they're being unreasonable about things relating to their children or partners and 4-6 responses. It's entertaining enough and there are some giggles to be found there.
It's been a fair while since I've been on a forum like Mumsnet, but this book brings it all back. Am I Being Unreasonable is short enough that it can be read in one sitting but also perfect to keep on your coffee table and delve into now and then, perhaps when you, yourself are wondering if YABU. The AIBU dilemmas are organised by theme and I think it's fair to say there is something for everyone in this book - whether it will be rolling your eyes or laughing out loud. It's hilarious - posh candle AIBU, I am looking at you!
I'll admit, when reading it, a part of me was wondering if the people who posted their AIBU dilemmas, knew they were going to be published in a book. I know they're posting in a public forum but still...I think the introduction would benefit from a sentence explaining this.
It's definitely a great stocking filler or Secret Santa present for the Mums in your life.
Thanks to Mumsnet for the change to review an advanced copy of the book in exchange for an honest review.
