I enjoyed this book. I loved King! He was a great bodyguard and bf! June was not as easy to connect with as a FMC. There were moments where she was a bit irritating. She very much reminded me of Whitney Houston's character in The Bodyguard.
I liked all of supporting characters and wouldn't mind seeing them in books in the future. I wish there were more details to the story's villain, his motive behind his initial encounter with June and how evolved to be who he was and/or why he was after her after so many years.
Overall I'd rate this book a 3.5 star. I would revisit this author in the future.
The story of June and Aedan is one of the sexiest. I was always comforted by how reassuring his love and feelings were for June. For sure, I was annoyed at her running back to Aaron, but as the story unfolded, so did June’s trauma. The romance was super sexy and relentless in the last 100 pages. Early on, the amount of “tech talk” and corporate job exposition was a little drawn out for me. But it built my anticipation for sure. The shifting settings between Ireland and the US was also pretty cool. I would like to see this book adapted to film. Way to go Rita G!!!
Thank you to NetGalley for the ARC. This is my first book by this author. I always love seeing a Black FMC being loved the right way even when she's being stubborn.
TAMING A KING by Rita A. Gordon is a sizzling bodyguard romance with an unique twist of a love triangle between the characters
This book takes you on a wild ride of emotions. It was suspenseful, gripping, intense, and passionate in all the right ways. The characters were so intriguing and completely complex there were so many deep layers to them that makes you draw to them right away. I enjoyed June as the main character although at times June could be frustrating but that’s what makes her journey so real she’s her go through the ups and downs in her left and making tough decisions. Seeing how her and Aedan relation progress from the start and end of the book was amazing, they had incredible chemistry together, it felt so organic and real.
Definitely recommend this books it was amazing and beautiful written, will need to pick up more of Rita’s books in the future.
I had high expectations for this book, but unfortunately, it fell short for me. While the story promised a captivating romance between the two main characters, I felt that it was overshadowed by too many other elements, making their connection feel secondary.
What bothered me the most was the inclusion of romantic interactions with other characters and some instances of cheating. These moments were off-putting and completely ruined the book for me
Overall, while the book had potential, these aspects significantly detracted from my enjoyment.
Aedan and June's love story was nice but she got on my nerves ALOT! At one point I had to take a breath from the story. I felt like the title almost should've been "Trying to keep June" because oweeee.🤦🏾♀️ And some of it just seemed toooo good to be true. She was too spoiled.
Not sure if a bad file was updated, but this edition wasn't readable. I tried on multiple devices and the text was nonsense. This was the beginning of chapter 1:
- I fitss.L b.mk.,kdh kd caBryxalez yearz agop 'ong Yecore vy Srzx wBzz... I learneE xTere Bz no zu-T xTBng az a wnBgTx
I tried, but I think the file must have been corrupted or something.
