I feel like I’m supposed to like this more than I did. But I felt like I, as the reader, never got the connection or what made them fall in love in this story. They have basically grown up together and when she thinks there’s some espionage at work, she sends him an anonymous message. Their banter is fun but it felt like they jumped right from “this guy is stabbing you in the back” to “let’s make out” very suddenly.
It all felt a little fast and without much on page connection. There was almost no chemistry at all. I was sad.
Such a cute romance. I really enjoyed the letters being passed back and forth on an app. Reading the back and forth between the two main characters always adds that special little addition to their feelings for me. It was spicy and romantic and once I had gotten into the story it was hard to put down. It does take a little bit to get into and there wasn't a lot of tension, but the back and forth was sweet.
June was very relatable as a main character even though she came from money. She was written down to earth and a bit shy and sweet. I loved the dual POV. Beau also down to earth and what you'd expect from the adoring, hot, love interest.
I recommend to anyone wanting a spicy romance with low drama. She falls for her best friend's brother, which isn't my favorite trope but I adored the main characters. It had me smiling during multiple points during the story. Well worth a read!
I love a good best friends brother romance. June and Beau are adorable and I love that they were able to find a way to be together. Him being aloof to June loving him for years is funny, men are clueless. The sister did annoy me a little bit but she'll probably get a book and I'll read it.
I received an arc through netgalley.
Meet me at midnight is a funny, epistolary, best friends brother romance.
I absolutely love the hidden identity & texting/ social media trope, and this was done so well. I wish there had been a little more of that, and less of the inter-workings of the office.
This was a really cute, funny & easy read. I enjoyed it!
Avery was….. a lot.
But Beau and Juniper were really cute.
I love Max Monroe’s writing & for me this one was a 3.5-4 star read.
Thank you so much for the opportunity!
I loved June and Beau’s story. I really liked June. She has secretly been in love with her best friend’s brother since the day she meet him. Beau has never seen June as anything other then his sisters best friend and another little sister. Especially with the five year age gap. June is hilarious with her thoughts of Beau. And their life together in her mind. This is a cute, funny, and entertaining read. I can’t wait to read Avery’s next.
I liked this a lot ... it was fun and I love this trope (best friend's brother). The pacing was good and the use of the app was done really well (communicating via the app). The ending was a bit over the top but ultimately satisfying. Give it a try!!
Meet Me at Midnight came out last week on November 8, 2024 and you can purchase HERE.
"Midnight is our latest social media app that we'll be releasing early next year," Marcus Hughes explains, and I quickly pull my phone out of my pocket and start taking diligent notes. I've got a major redemption arc to write for myself if I want to prove I'm anything other than Avery's ditsy friend who can't figure out fucking Zoom filters. "Think of it as an app meant for dating and conversation, but you can stay anonymous while you do it."
A fun, quirky best friend's older brother romance. The book starts with laughs and continues throughout. The characters are well-written and the story is the perfect lighthearted rom-com to keep you invested.
Oh, my heart! ♥️ Beau and Juniper’s love story is a delight. Best friend’s brother. Hidden identity. Flirty, sexy banter through texts. Throw in a loving found family and a somewhat clueless, but loyal best friend and you’ve got some of my favorite parts of this book. #MeetMeAtMidnight #NetGalley
This book was a fun and cute read. I liked that the female main character had her crush but didn’t really make it her personality or the sole reason why she had been friends with his sister. Yes they’re all from money, but both the FMC and MMC don’t really flaunt that and both wanted to work hard and enjoy simpler lives. I also really liked her found family dynamic. The spicy scenes were also well done and nothing over the top. It was a quick read for me, but it was a good one. I enjoyed it and would recommend.
I finished this in one sitting because it was so unputdownable! I liked the writing, and even though not all jokes worked for me, I had a lot of fun reading this book.
June and Beau were great together and their chemistry was pure fire. In general I’m not a fan of secrets, but I loved that he initially didn’t know who he was talking to. It was a neat trick to avert any potential creepiness, which was very appreciated in this setting. It was maybe a little weird that they were having cyber sex before he even knew who she was, but luckily they quickly moved on to the real thing.😏
What didn’t work for me was Beau’s sister and June’s bestie Avery. She was a spoiled, entitled princess and she annoyed me to no end. I didn’t get why everyone was so okay with her laziness, and what was even the point of having her employed if she never showed up for work anyway.
She was also partially responsible for the third act breakup, which was the stupidest thing ever. June and Avery were 23 but acting like 15 and I really hate third act breakups built on fabricated high-school-level drama. The last few chapters were a train wreck and it’s really a shame because it was an anticlimactic ending to an otherwise captivating story.
I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.
Powerful, poignant and gloriously heartfelt, Meet Me At Midnight was an all-consuming read that I could not put down. Beau and Juniper’s story had all of the emotion, wit and spice that I have come to expect from a Max Monroe book, and it is definitely one of my top reads of the year; I absolutely loved it!
Meet Me at Midnight was a quick, fun read by duo Max Monroe.
June practically grows up with her best friend's family as her parents are absent from her life. Since childhood she's had a crush on her best friend's older brother Beau. This story is a dual POV, taking the reader through a journey of June and Beau as adults and begin working together for Beau's father. This is great for readers who enjoy workplace romance and brother's best friend. This was funny and sweet with a HEA that perfectly closed out their story. I did not love June's best friend, Avery, and am not sure I'd read her story based on her character in this book.
Thanks Netgalley for the ARC!
Juniper has had a crush on Beau, her best friend's older brother for years. They work together & now he is her newest neighbor. She has now found a way to chat and flirt with him anonymously. He doesn't know it's her, but the more they talk and get to know each other the more they like each other. Things start get to spicy and they finally agree to meet. As things continue to grow between them they keep their relationship a secret. as they work together. Another good read by this duo.
Thanks to netgalley for the ARC.
A solid read from Max Monroe- always expect the banter and have those expectations blown out the water. Avery was all kinds of crazy and I found myself undecided if I loved her, hated her or wanted to institutionalise her. An A+ side character.
Enjoyed the premise- very you got mail vibes.
Would have loved some June family side drama but all in all a solid book
This author books are a hit or miss for me but after reading the blurb for this book, I really wanted to read it. I'm honestly glad I gave it a try because it was a really great story. I will say that it took me a minute to get into the story but once I did, I literally devoured this book. It was a great best friend's older brother romance story with great characters, cute, flirty and laugh out loud moments that ended with a HEA. I was rooting for things to work out with June and Beau and when they did the ending left me satisfied. I'm looking forward to reading more books from this author. I just hope that I enjoy the next book I read as much as I did this one.
This is a breezy contemporary romance that’s sweet and low-drama. The story flows smoothly, maybe a bit too smoothly. It felt like a light, teenage daydream. If I had read this in my early teens, it would probably be an easy five stars. As an adult reader, I want more depth with the characters beyond their status and luxury, which sometimes felt a little overemphasized. The story hits on classic romance tropes, and while the epilogue is pure cheese, it's still an enjoyable read. The buildup is sweet, not overly spicy. The premise isn’t revolutionary, but it brings a fresh twist.
I loved this story! Juniper and Beau's story was perfection in my books! I loved the premise of the story, I loved the feelings it invoked. The whole story sucked me in and didn't let go right until the end. I am really hoping Avery will have her own book, I just know it's going to be just as good!
Highly recommend this book.
The authors note in the beginning is honestly what made me want to read this book!
Said it would cause uncontrollable laughter and it sure did! Also said it would cause incessant, smiling, swooning and giggling and boy did it deliver!
Juniper June is honestly hilarious and her inner monologues just made me relate to her lol.
Beau is such a sweet and caring guy and obviously oblivious to Junes crush.
I loved the way the whole book played out with the midnight app and Beau and Junes love.
I do have to point out that i absolutely hated Avery 😅 she was such a spoiled rich brat. Honestly her character is just selfish and really no personality, besides being a rich girl who always gets her way and always wants the attention for herself. Everyone else thought it was adorable and quirky but I doubt I’ll be reading the next book, because it’ll be about Avery.
Since this book wasn’t only about Avery I still have it 5 stars because I genuinely loved Beau and June and their HEA.
There was definitely open door spice LOTS of funny moments and plenty of swooning. Go read!
This is a found family, best friend's brother romance. Sometimes the best connection is when you actually get to know someone without judgement on their looks. Beauty from within speaks louder than outward appearances. Beau got a chance to see the real her without everything thing else getting in the way. Meet me at midnight was a great story, you will laugh, feel the angst, and maybe a few tears. Just know that in the end it's worth the ride.
4 stars! ⭐️
This book had me kicking my feet & giggling! I loved Juniper and Beau is QUITE the book boyfriend. I read this book so quickly and didn’t want to put it down. While the MMC and FMC were wealthy, it wasn’t like a usual “billionaire romance” and I loved that it wasn’t a main part/factor of their love story as I get tired of that trope.
Juniper was so relatable and the main plot line was, too - who hasn’t had a crush on their friend’s older brother at some point in time?! And I loved the way their whole story played out. And the found family - 10/10, I need a Diane and Neil in my life.
This was my first Max Monroe book, and I’ve already queued up another! I can’t wait to read Avery’s story next year!
Thank you to NetGalley and Max Monroe for the eARC of this book. I am leaving my honest review of this book after reading it.
