The goldfish storyline was actually really funny. She thinks that if she can keep a goldfish alive, she can keep the baby alive. Unfortunately, she's not the best at keeping a goldfish alive.

The empty grave thing was super gross. The comment on embalming fluid really made me wince.

I highly recommend this series all of them have been awesome,

I've struggled through the first four in the Charley Davidson series, but I'm now raising the white flag of surrender. There must be something to these books, as there are a staggering number of positive reviews. Readers seem to be lapping these stories up like a cat to cream, so I don't blame the author for continuing to crank them out. However- I am done.

I'm done with Charley being stupidly gaga over Reyes. She loses her damn mind (and all her common sense) the second he looks her way. She has a high enough opinion of herself that I don't get why she'd allow herself to be treated the way he carries on. He says he loves her, but puts her in danger. Sure, he saves her, but what's a guy to do? Maybe not use his girlfriend as bait in the first place?

Their relationship seems immature, self-serving on both sides, and doomed to implode. Maybe this is the author's intention, watching them grow into a healthy relationship as the series moves along, but I'm not going to stick around for any more of the nonsense.

I love this series as a whole. Daryna Jones has perfected her storytelling to where all parts flow together flawlessly. Would recommend!

Holy crap! With each book things amp up but by the end of this one, it feels like the world is in danger of exploding. I’m left wide eyed and a little worried about Charley and her abilities. There is just so much revealed here in little increments but with huge repercussions. I keep swearing I’m going to take a break from this series but I absolutely cannot. I am totally invested in this story and how it’s all going to play out. Be prepared dear readers. This one is going to blow you away!

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book provided by NetGalley and St. Martin’s Press. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Loved this thrilling, fun and heart pounding adventure filled with danger, excitement and passion... this crazy adventure begins where the last one left off... Loved it! Charley and her people are in for the fight of their lives as they get closer to the coming war. So excited to read the next book and find out what happens next.

So – quick catch-up: Cookie and Ubie are FINALLY a ‘thing’ and Amber is far more amazing than anyone ever thought. Garrett is still working on the translation, the hell-hounds are stalking, Charley’s father has gone incommunicado, someone is stealing bodies from the graveyard, Charley has ‘quit’ caffeine because of Beep, Reyes and Osh (the daeva) are working out their differences while trying to protect Charley from the hell hounds and herself, ok – mostly herself. Oh – and in preparation for Beep’s arrival – her baby with Reyes, she’s sprung out for a goldfish, named Belvedere, and finds herself unduly (and unusually) beset by jealousy when a television reporter, a few ants short of a picnic, start repeatedly appearing to gaze at and hang on Reyes. When you add in the spectre of Jessica, her former and last best friend from childhood, constantly talking and berating her, things are more than crowded around for her attention.

Far more involved with the over-arcing storyline of Charley and Reyes – and their fight for the world, this one has only a minor appearance of the PI gig, mostly because Charley is desperate to find her father and Ubie is working on a case of missing people – suicide notes with no bodies, and at this point, her visit with Rocket left her with the understanding that one of the missing is still alive, and then… the hellhounds. Fortunate to get out of the asylum with minor injuries, and most of the damage done to Reyes and Osh, and some to Garrett, they are all hoping to get some real answers from the German scholar who is working on the pages Garrett found: while Reyes and Osh have some idea of the ‘what’ the hellhounds are, and how they were created, they don’t know who summoned them (or if they do, they haven’t shared that info) or just how to stop them – because, of course they don’t just die - they keep coming back because they are built with a single purpose.

As with most of Charley’s world, she’s essentially fearless until nearly too late – much of what she learns about her powers and how to wield them is a spur of the moment thing, fortunately she’s usually driven by good intentions, so it often works out to pull her from the brink at he last possible moment. The questions come later, and with an often close-mouthed Reyes, and Osh who seems to appreciate needling him, her questions in this book seem to have few answers, as everyone seems to be a little lost. Overriding all of her instincts to help, to sort things out however is he worry about parenting Beep (now the size of a black eyed pea -hence the name) and the trial run with Belvedere. She’s starting to get a feel for it all with Amber, and seeing just why (and how) Cookie and Amber, Osh and even Garrett have come into her life – and with Reyes out of the frame for yet another series of murders, Ubie on the mend and new questions abut her father – there’s more to be revealed as we continue on this laugh out loud journey.

You need to start at book one and take each of these books in order – fortunately there are twelve with the thirteenth to be released in January… it’s well worth the time. Just bring plenty of cold drinks for Reyes and Charley will create some serious steam along the way.

I received an eBook copy of the title from the publisher via NetGalley for purpose of honest review. I was not compensated for this review: all conclusions are my own responsibility.

Well, this one was a bit happy and a bit sad. Someone has summoned twelve hellhounds to kill Charley. This of course only pisses her off and strengthens her powers, but worries Reyes that he won't be able to protect her and their child she is carrying. Unfortunately someone very close to Charley dies at the end. You'll just have to read to find out who.

Our main character bloom in this story. I definitely like pregnant Charlie as she finally got some answers and hella lot of New questions! Like always in this series.
Here Reyes's past will Play the significant role and will give it some turns I had not expected at all. The Twelve were summoned and well hellhounds can be a hella gringos.
Those books are addictive that should be learning here!

BOOK BLURB

Twelve. Twelve of the deadliest beasts ever forged in the fires of hell have escaped onto our plane, and they want nothing more than to rip out the jugular of Charley Davidson and serve her lifeless, mangled body to Satan for dinner. So there’s that. But Charley has more on her plate than a mob of testy hellhounds. For one thing, her father has disappeared, and the more she retraces his last steps, the more she learns he was conducting an investigation of his own, one that has Charley questioning everything she’s ever known about him. Add to that an ex-BFF who is haunting her night and day, a rash of suicides that has authorities baffled, and a drop-dead sexy fiancé who has attracted the attentions of a local celebrity, and Charley is not having the best week of her life.

A tad north of hell, a hop, skip, and a jump past the realm of eternity, is a little place called Earth, and Charley Davidson, grim reaper extraordinaire, is determined to do everything in her power to protect it.

We’re doomed.

My Thoughts

Have Mercy on the world, Charley Davidson without a caffeine fix is a deadly combination!

After numerous brushes with courting death you would think our reckless PI had perhaps learned to "look before she leaped", or perhaps not.

From the get-go Charley Davidson has been hell-on-wheels and recent life changes on her part have not slowed this Reaper down in the least. If anything it seems to have made her even more determined to "tempt fate" instead.

With old allies and new Charley manages to unearth the truth and solve cases that have lain in the archives for years. The frustrations that lead FBI Special Agent Carson and Police Detective Robert Davidson to seek her help pays off in spades for both as not only are the cases closed but justice is finally served for the multiple victims.

However, all is not wine and roses for Ms. Davidson as finally the prophesy regarding the imminent appearance of the mysterious Twelve has come to pass.

The deadly beasts which are unleashed on Charley, Reyes and the others prove to be elusive as well as nigh unstoppable each time they are engaged in battle.

Charley once again experiences a giant leap in her Reaper powers, a leap that proves helpful if not totally what will save she and her friends at the end of the day.

In this 7th installment there are multiple plot twists once again that keep readers guessing and totally enthralled with the action.

Like others have stated before me there is never a dull moment in Charley's world as the bodies pile up, the mysteries thicken, the antagonists take she and her fellow fighters on again and again as the end of the book draws near the readers emotions are heightened to the breaking point.

A new development that is unearthed early on is the cause of a death that no one saw coming and nearly breaks Charley when she learns the truth that she is the reason it happened.

Just like the others before it this book ends on a cliffhanger which will shock readers to their core and leave them wanting book 8 immediately!

I think had I just read the CliffNotes summary of this series, even that would've felt OTT. Because wow I don't even know how we're at this point with so many books still to go.

This book (or maybe it's the series? and it's characters?) exhausted me. Charley was going through caffeine withdrawal headaches and I was right there with her. Granted mine might be more the head cold variety but still. There was added pain and I'm just tired.

Charley always seems to test the patience of those around her, including her one true love honey bunny from hell, and yet it seemed even his understanding in this one was.. less so. I wonder if we finally saw some of that frustration (well, there's always been frustration, their tru wuv aside, they have some major issues that never seem to resolve) because Charley is about to go through a growing up stage (finally, so overdue) as a result of what happened at the end of this one (again, another big momentous ending).

Reading these books is so hard because Jones is very aware of her characters' flaws and struggles, and makes the reader aware that the writer is aware, and even that some of the characters know their own hangups, and yet we're still forced to endure the ridiculous. Or rather I'm still forced. There are so many fans of these books and I'm clearly in the minority. Oh well. One more to go and then I'm off the hook for a while.

This is such a great series. This is the seventh book in the Charley Davidson series. The main character is the Grim Reaper and she's got a great sense of humor.

I received a free copy of SEVENTH GRAVE AND NO BODY (Charley Davidson Book 7) by Darynda Jones through NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. In this installment, Charley, private investigator and grim reaper, is being haunted by a childhood enemy who, prior to dying, was sort of stalking Charley’s fiancé. Said fiancé has been stalking Charley because twelve hellhounds have been sent to destroy her. Oddly enough, said fiancé also appears to now be open to advances by a local reporter. Charley’s uncle asks her to help him with investigating a series of missing people who left behind suicide notes. Charley’s dad goes missing, and a distraught teenager begs Charley to find her body.

Oh well, just another day in the life of the shining beacon of death. I highly recommend this series to mature readers who don’t mind occasional bad language and who either enjoy reading or don’t mind skipping sexy-times.

reading through this series in order has been fun. I'm loving Charley and her antics and sarcasm.

The author still does too much recapping for those that have read earlier books...so if you haven't started yet you could possibly jump in here, but you won't get the full affect of some of the actions and decisions.

Yet another amazing story to add to the series. I just love the characters and the world that has been created. The character development and relationship buildings have been great throughout. This is a 'must read' for sure!!!

In this seventh installment in the Grave series, come along and swim through the mazes of mysteries that hold you hostage alongside Charley Davidson. In number seven I felt as though Baby Beep was used as a prop to take down Satan (and yes I do feel silly even typing this sentence out thankyouverymuch), not a loving, symbolic figure of Charley and Reyes’ love. So many things happened in this book and as always, that alone takes away from the reading of the novel. I feel as though I am swimming through overused words and an editor would have been of extreme value during this read. Clean up your run ons, you’ll get more stars for the work.

I received an ARC from NetGalley and the publisher in exchange for an honest review.

Seventh Grave and No Body finds Charley and Reyes in a battle for their lives. Demons, infatuated females, mysterious figures in the night- everybody seems to want them dead. Add Charley's tendency to find trouble and our heroes escape death by the skin of their teeth again and again. Charley has a lot on her plate finding out she's a god on earth, being preggers with mankind's salvation, and hell hounds breathing down her neck but as always she faces danger head on with sarcasm and snark. Every time I finish one book, I want to run hell for leather into the next book. I am going to seriously grieve for the end of this series. My voluntary, unbiased review is based upon a review copy from Netgalley.
