Marie Harte is a new author for me so this was my first exploration of this world. I had a hard time finishing it. The story itself was intriguing and very sweet. But as much as I enjoyed the premise, I couldn't get invested in the characters.

Delilah "Del" Webster has been fighting her attraction to Mike McCauley, Eldest brother and widower, of the McCauley brothers since the moment she met him. Now that his other brothers have found happiness and relationships with the girls renting the house next door, Mike is feeling a little left out. Though still mourning his wife's passing during his son, Colin's, birth six years ago, he finds his attraction to Del confusing.
Mike's had an understanding with other women in the past, that he's not looking for more than companionship with no interest in ever marrying again. When he starts up with Del, he finds that he needs to define thing with her. Especially since his mother is doing everything in her power to push him closer to her neighbor's divorced daughter, with a child.
Del is so very different from Mike's deceased wife, everyone is surprised by their attraction to each other, especially Del and Mike. But Del has a great connection with Colin, who knew she was to be his new mom from the moment he met her.
I loved how the relationship between Del and Mike evolved over the past couple of books into this one. I teared up a bit when Mike had to deal with a few residual emotions and issues from his wife, Leah's, death.
I also loved the POVs from Colin, Mike's six-year-old son. He was adorable trying to get Del and Mike together, getting help from both Ubie and J.T.
I am really enjoying this author's style. Funny in a lot of ways, but with real issues in others.
As I've said in other reviews in the series, I'm looking forward to the Donnigans story, cousins to the McCauleys, and the guys from the shop, co-owned and run by Del.

I have to say that this is by far my favorite of the four books. Mike has been a widower for six years. Still grieving for his dead wife, he isn't prepared for the feelings that stir up in him when he is around Del.
I loved Mike and Del. Their relationship was explosive, but so much fun to watch. Del is pretty tough on the outside, but inside she is really soft and longing for love. I have been rooting for this couple since Del first showed up earlier in the series. I loved how she was with Colin, Mike's 6YO son. I thought the author did a really good job of making the reader feel Mike's grief and struggle to move past his wife's death. That break down scene really had me choking up and that rarely happens. I loved their HEA in the bar.
One of the things that really made this book was having part of the story told from Colin's point of view. He was really central to the story and having his thoughts just added depth to the relationship between Mike and Del. This book wraps up the quartet nicely. I highly recommend this one as well as the series as a whole. -Kari
