I have to only give this book three stars because although a lot of thought has gone into the book, the author didn’t put in enough scriptures to both back up what he was writing and illuminate it. It seems to me that he knows things so much that he can just write but he forgot the most important part of the spirit of Christmas, the Bible, instead we were given his thoughts which while interesting and definitely provoking, fell flat for me and left me feeling dry. I mean, did I miss the Bible verses? I don’t think I did, and think they were sparce.

In Search of the Real Spirit of Christmas by Dan Schaeffer is a thought provoking look at our traditions and simple thoughts concerning Christmas. An insightful book that encourages the reader to take a deeper look at the meaning of Christmas. There will be no going through the motions or celebrating this holy day without sincere gratitude to Christ. A great reminder of Christ leaving heaven to be born, then to be the sacrifice and living Savior for us. A book to be read every Christmas to find the true peace and joy in Christ during this season.
