Dark cowboy romance… sign me up! This book was actually way better than I thought it was going to be. Westin was so hot. The spice was spicy and I loved how sweet he was for Diane. The narrators were also really great and I didn’t want to stop listening to this audiobook! Make sure you check the trigger warnings before you read this book!
🎧 ALC review
Jack Calihan and Hannah Chiclana are the perfect narrators for Westin and Diane. Jack has the perfect growly cowboy voice and Hannah is the perfect voice for Diane.
Westin takes place at the same time as Sovereign, so we get glimpses of Westin and Diane. Nothing prepares you for their story though.
Westin is the second book in The Sovereign Mountain series. If follows Westin Quinn, a rancher that works with his best friend on Sovereign Mountain. Westin is also know as the Gun Slinger and has a reputation to never miss a shot. Westin meets Diane and wants her to be his. The only problem is she is only 21 years old and he is much older. Also Diane's brother has married her of to one of the Garrison's brothers, his sworn enemy. Will Diane and Westin get to be with each other and how will Diane be able to leave her husband when she is traped at the ranch. Westin has just as much as steamy chapters as the first book in the series Sovereign did. It will not disapoint the reader at all. I would like to thank both NetGalley and Dreamscape Media for letting me have an advanced copy of this audiobook.
**ALC**
Second book of the Sovereign Mountain Series.
This book coincided with events that happened in book one, so to not be confused you MUST read/listen to book one.
I enjoyed the storyline. There were moments that were standout and I felt like the book was more plot than relationship heavy. It was very much like book one. Guy sees girl. Guy wants girl. Guy gets rid of girls husband/family. Guy gets girl.
Jack Calihan did an amazing job bringing the growly cowboy to life. Hannah Chiclana did a great job with the FMC portions.
⭐️⭐️⭐️.5
***I received a copy of this as an audio ARC via Netgalley for my honest review ***
- Age gap - Obsessed MMC - Dark Cowboy - Revenge - Sequel - Good Voice actors for audiobook -
The men of Sovereign Mountain are at it again. Rescuing mistreated women, reclaiming land, exacting revenge, and of course, thoroughly claiming and bedding their women. Westin is the second installment in The Sovereign Mountain series and follows the story of Westin and Diane, who we met in the first book, Sovereign. While this is a sequel, the reader can choose this as a standalone or even read the books out of order. This book follows pretty much the same timeline as the first, just from our new main characters' point of view and, of course, expanding on their backstories.
While I did really enjoy listening to this book overall, I do wish the storyline varied a tad more from the first book. It seems to have been plotted out off of the same formula. But I guess if it's not broke, don't fix it. Us readers will keep coming back to see what the sexy, overprotective, domineering cowboys are up to.
The insta love was SO bad. I’m talking, ridiculously impossible 😂 I felt this story was just so far fetched and unrealistic, I couldn’t handle it or get myself to care at all. 2x speed for the audio couldn’t even get this book over with quick enough 💀
Maybe if we would’ve gotten some backstory on the characters before diving face first into instalove & instalust, it wouldn’t have been so bad. 21 year old virgin not only kisses a random dude that’s way older - but also gives up her VCard? I just couldn’t. I rolled my eyes so many times during this story. 🫠
I didn’t connect with either of the MC’s because the story was just ridiculous from the get go and was hard to relate or get into caring for someone with such a ridiculous story line.
Thankyou dreamscape media and NetGalley for the ALC in exchange for my honest opinion . I read this book back in September and it was one of my highest anticipated reads of the year and the audio version was incredible . Love the dual narration .
Westin Quinn - morally grey MMC , a broody , possessive and dark man who is broken but such a caring soul for the people he loves and cares about most . He will do ANYTHING to get what he wants and nobody or nothing will stand in his way of doing so .
Diane Carter - FMC , strong - young and sassy who is willing to do anything to keep the farm protected even if it means marrying someone she despises .
I absolutely loved the plot of this book . It kept me so engaged , i missed meals while reading . Kept my emotions on edge the whole time , you truly felt for both the MMC and FMCs stories . The chemistry and angst between Westin and Diane was absolutely 🥵🔥 they were pure perfection .. the spice in this book was so hot , I had to jump out on the balcony to get some air . I binged this in a day both times I read it .
If you love dark cowboy romances with age gap , bdsm and great spice . Please read this .

This is the second book in the Sovereign Mountain series and can be read as a standalone if you prefer, but it will give spoilers to the first book.
If I am rating on spice alone, this book is a solid 10/10. Raya Morris Edwards sure knows how to get those juices flowing. However, storyline wise I didn’t love this one as much as I did Sovereign. I think it had a lot to do with the fact that Sovereign had more eternal pieces moving and more mystery along with the fact that Diane and Westin spent the majority of the book separated and only met up for sex. Idk. It was still good, but it wasn’t great.
Westin and Diane had a secret forbidden relationship until Diane is force to marry to keep her home but they were still seeing each other even though she was married. They were trying to find away to be together.
Until they do and when they do they are set to get married.
Natrated by Hannah Chiclana; Jack Calihan
A cowboy romance with lots of drama.
There was a lot going on in this story, I'm actually surprised Raya included it all in one book, because it's quite a rollercoaster of violence, abuse and of course a tension-filled romance.
I like the set up of our main characters as wanting to be together, but hiding it or needing to be apart but trying to get back to each other. That was written well. And I really like how this story runs concurrently with book one in this series, Sovereign. Where the character's overlap in book one, we see it again here but from a different point of view. It's tough to do, but Raya made it look easy.
I love the depiction of kink and consent and how our main characters use their scenes to heal from their traumas.
Our FMC was fundamentally boring. She'd been pulled out of school at a young age and then worked as a maid/cook on her family farm. So she has no friends, no hobbies, no touchpoint to cultural references. I kept wondering why Westin even liked her. Other than talking about her trauma and sex, I didn't see what they actually had in common. While there was a little character arc with her, it wasn't enough to make her interesting. I prefer a more capable FMC.
Narrators Hannah Chiclana and Jack Calihan do a great job bringing the characters to life. I'll definitely be looking for them in other books.
I'm interested to see which character Raya focuses on for her next installment of this series.
This book is best read in your cowboys truck. Be mindful of the 🔫
**Review of *Westin* by Raya Morris Edwards**
**Rating: 5⭐️ Narration, 5🌶️ Heat, 3⭐️ Storyline**
*Westin* by Raya Morris Edwards is an intense read that delivers on its promise of erotica and BDSM. The narration stands out, offering an immersive experience with strong character voices and a gripping atmosphere, earning a solid 5 stars. The chemistry between the characters is palpable, and the sizzling heat factor gets a full 5🌶️ rating for those who crave steamy and explicit scenes.
However, while the erotic elements are well-crafted, the storyline itself falls a bit short, earning only 3 stars. The plot might feel predictable or lacking depth for readers who prefer more intricate storytelling alongside their spice. That said, if you're in it for the BDSM dynamics and passionate scenes, *Westin* delivers exactly what you'd expect.
In summary, *Westin* is a great pick for fans of BDSM erotica but may not satisfy those looking for a more developed narrative.
This book surprised me in the best way, I went into it not really knowing what to expect, but I ended up liking it a lot! The story kept me engaged and entertained, and it was a pleasant read overall. Loved the narrators they really bought the characters to life.
After Sovereign, I was excited about hearing Westin and Diane’s story. This one didn’t feel like the first book. More spice than plot. Narration was ok.
This was everything! I’m in love! I couldn’t wait to listen to this and I can’t wait for more! I hope that everyone puts this on the TBR and love it like I did! 10/10!
Addictive. This series is addictive. A little suspense and a lot of cowboy with a dirty mouth. Strong female characters who take their space and the men who love and support them.

This dang series man ... 🥵
What is in the water at Sovereign ranch? Because the men there ... holy heck. Sign me up! 😂
I am obsessed with this series and getting a deeper version of Westin from the glimpses of him in book one was perfection.
I also really loved the FMC, Diane, and found myself rooting for her the whole way through.

I can't wait for more of this series to come out! Available on KU, ebook, paperback, and audiobook (Nov 26th)!
I read the book, then listened to the audiobook and O.M.G. The male narrator brought Westin straight to life. An incredible job by both narrators really. I am loving the dark cowboy romance and as much as I fangirled for Gerard, Westin is the book version of RIP from Yellowstone. I can not wait for Deacon!
Sexy, cute, rough /ragged, sweet, damsel in distress all of the hot tension This book is the perfect mix of romance and tension! This type of storytelling—balancing raw attraction with a complex emotional depth—keeps readers invested, especially when the characters feel gritty yet vulnerable. Combining the rugged, wild elements of a "Yellowstone" vibe with the intense, evocative dynamics of a WS Greer-type romance adds that thrilling edge. The best audiobooks have just the right narrator who can bring all that passion to life!
I enjoyed this continuation of Sovereign Mountain. The relationships in these definitely raise some eyebrows with the age gap and proclivities given the trauma the women have endured (which I think is part of the point), but it works. The books are well-written and quick reads. I enjoyed Westin more than Sovereign, I think I felt worse for him and his background? The audio of this was really well done and I am glad I got a copy from NetGalley!
ALC review!
Thank you NetGalley and Raya for the ALC of Westin. Westing picks up where sovereign leaves off. Westin and Diane's story. Diane is young and inexperienced and Westin makes sure she is comfortable with what she's getting into.. he's starting out slow and giving her a little at a time until.... Westin is respectful of her and she's bringing all the sass to set him off.
I liked that this book followed the lines for sovereign because we knew what we were getting into!
I'm still undecided who's my fav! We may have to wait for the next...
