Hannah Chiclana and Jack Calihan were absolutely perfect as the narrators for Westin and Diane. Hannah nailed Diane’s youthful and naive tone while capturing that spark of fight within her. Jack brought so much depth and tension to Westin’s backstory and perfectly conveyed the immediate respect and obsession Westin felt for Diane during their first encounters gahI’m still thinking about it, haha!
This is definitely a story where the spice plays a key role in showing how their trust and connection grow. I also loved getting a fresh perspective on certain events from Sovereign. Overall, I really enjoyed the story and thought these narrators did an amazing job!
Westin Quinn. Yes. Please. This book was NEXT LEVEL spicy. I loved everything about Westin and Diane. Their dynamic was way more complex than I could have anticipated from the glimpses we got of them in Sovereign and it was very pleasantly surprising. I adored how gentle but wildly protective Westin was of Diane from the get, as we have come to expect of our Sovereign Mountain boys. Immediate possession takes hold and he only sees her. I will say the only thing that got me with this book was the pacing, I feel it was a bit discombobulated for me and as much as I adored to see Westin and Diane’s much deserved happy ever after, it just could have been a bit shorter in my personal opinion. However, I still very much enjoyed it. 4/5 stars.
Thank you Netgalley and dreamscape for the alc. My opinions are being left voluntarily. This was my first dark cowboy and I immediately went to grab book 1 and 1.5. I feel like I'll be devouring this authors ba klist and anything similar. Love the narration was so well done.
4.5/5☆
Definitely keen to read this one, *whispers here's hoping he's not into the BDSM lifestyle too*😝 Annnnd he is 🤣.. must be a cowboy kink in their part of the country 🤣
I was really looking forward to this book especially with how much I enjoyed the previous instalment, once it went live, I dived right in, and if I’m being brutally honest I kind of got bored, I don’t mind books centered around the BDSM lifestyle but when it takes it away from me connecting with the characters that’s when I have a problem with it, I had everything crossed that this author would go a different way with Westin since the previous book was too similar to come across as unique as one reviewer mentioned it was almost a copy paste version, and yes I have to agree with her.
If your a fan of the tv series Yellowstone I base my cowboys off Rip, loyal, brash, tough, takes no shit kind of a guy, piss him off and your dropped off at the train station. But when he loves he loves tenderly, fully, you connect completely with the love he shows, this is what I seek when it comes to this genre.
I wanted to push through and finish this book but sadly I couldn’t finish it, I only got about 60% and I was done.
This is a my problem with this book, others have loved it, sadly it just wasn’t for me..
I do enjoy a book that has a fair amount of "spice" but I don't think I was quite prepared for the book to pretty much open the story with an older man taking our main characters virginity without a single conversation getting to know each other. It felt a little too much downloading porn and skipping all the "talking" and getting straight to the deed. The first sex scene is very descriptive and I won't lie, it's hot but I look for a lot more depth of story in my romantic spice. These too seem like they have "insta-love" on the brain and then the dialogue sounds like they just met (which THEY DID!!!!)
Anyway, not my cup of tea and so I did not finish but I can tell you if you are here for straight up sexual hotness... I believe this is probably your kind of book.
I’m obsessed with the Sovereign Mountain Men! If you’re as into dark cowboy romance as I am, then you have to pick this up! Although it’s the second book in the series, it could hold its own as a standalone, so you can jump right in. But of course, I highly recommend reading book one, Sovereign, for the full backstory and to truly appreciate the series.
Westin is set in the rugged beauty of northern Montana, the story of Westin Quinn and Diane Carter is intense, passionate, and full of drama. Diane’s life at Carter Farms is tough with her overbearing brother and her fight for freedom. When Westin, the enigmatic and dangerous cowboy from Sovereign Mountain, walks into her world, everything changes. Their chemistry is off the charts, and the romance is scorching hot! It’s impossible not to get swept up in their story. If dark, spicy, forbidden/age-gap cowboy romances are your thing, Westin will have you hooked!
Truly don’t know what toxic misogynistic garbage I just listened to, but I couldn’t finish it. Couldn’t even get half way. ,
