Very fine art and a rollicking narrative verse bring us a convoluted tale of three critters, who just happen to manage to help each other out. A bird crashlands as it has got so tired it's lost the flight of the rest of its flock, but a brave chameleon just about manages to help it out and talk through the bird's worries. That's when they see a monkey with its hand caught in a trap for it – a trap where it won't think to let go of the bait and therefore have a smaller fist. All told, the chameleon loses doubt and shyness – how brave, the bird learns to share and halve a problem, and the monkey learns literally to let go – and (spoiler alert) knows where the birds have gone. Only the slightest stumbles in the rhythm deflect from the poetry being world-class, and we get classroom activities as well. You don't have to have read the one before this in this small series, but there's no denying Windmill Books have resurrected another class affair by bringing them both back out. A strong four stars.

A lyrical and heartwarming children's book filled with meaning and valuable lessons. I loved its themes of kindness, courage and friendship. The rhymes were good, but occasionally came across as trying too hard. It's worth bearing in mind that less is more...

We thought this was a cute book. My 5-year-old thought it was funny with the coconut trap and wanted to make his own. We were so happy to see the friendship between the three blossom and that it had a happy ending!

When a little lorikeet gets lots in the jungle, he gets help from a few friends along the way. This is a beautifully illustrated adventure about friendship that the kids will truly enjoy both at home and in the classroom.

Conker and the Monkey Trap is a beautifully illustrated picture book for children with some fantastic messages woven within it.
Conker, Sanjeet, and Maud are all alone and lonely until their paths cross within this heartwarming story. Conker helps and saves Sanjeet, and then the pair save Maud, and the trio become fast friends. They learn so many things from working together as well as friendship ; bravery, kindness, empathy, teamwork, and inner strength. The story is very captivating, as are the beautiful, bright illustrations throughout the book.

Thank you so much to Windmill Books/ Rosen Publishing and Netgalley for the ebook to read and review.

Conker, Maud and Sanjeet were all lonely until events of the day bring them together in friendship, kindness, challenges and team work. The three of them form a strong new friendship after they help each other out.

This was such an incredibly sweet story it was so sad at first when they were all alone. Conker saw a bird in a puddle, he remembered all he was taught and went to talk to and help Sanjeet. The two of them walked and talked and then came across a monkey in a monkey trap and together helped figure out how to save her from it.

I really enjoyed this story it was so so beautiful to read it had so many different messages from bravery and strength, to kindness and manners, teamwork and friendship. I loved how many different and helpful messages this story conveyed to its readers, all in a simple way too which is wonderful.

This is a beautiful story to look at, the illustrations were all so bright and pretty to look at and the rainbow feathers of the birds were stunning. The story is really easy to read, the characters are adorable and I loved it so much. The back of the book also provides some really sweet activities that readers can do after they’ve read the book.

My children really enjoyed this story. They picked up on the comradery and the test of being a true friend for someone in need. I was lost for the first few pages as to why the title is what it is but this was overall a cute read.

The illustrations were adorable and my kids enjoyed pointing at the details and what went hand in hand with the story. The illustrations kept them engaged and entertained.

Thank you Hannah Peckham, NetGalley, and Rosen Publishing Group.

This books illustrations are wonderful, vivid and kept my daughter engaged. The only thing was Conker was walking on 4 legs and then on one page was all of a sudden walking on 2. Which felt a little odd and my daughter (3) actually pointed it out.

The story was ok, I actually didn't know this was a second installment until I read the back cover, so I have no prior knowledge of the story on Conker before this. I think the story was very wordy and somewhat felt like it was broken up and didn't flow as great as it could have. I found myself turning back to the pervious page a few times to make sure I didn't miss part of the story. The part specifically when Maude told Sanjeet where the flock had gone jumped straight into Maude being welcomed into the flock, I had to double check I didn't miss something, just felt like a jump in the story that could be confusing for younger readers.

The rhyming was wonderful and I felt like it flowed nicely when read aloud. And the ending was a good way to wrap up to young readers the deeper meaning the book had. The cover art is great and drew me into the book, I can see myself grabbing it from a shelf just from the cover art. The activities at the end are a great added bonus!

I received an advance reader copy for #ConkerandtheMonkeyTrap from #NetGalley

One day, 3 animals found themselves lonely and sad, but suddenly Conker met Sanjeet and become friends. Not far from them, Maud struggles and met the other 2 animals. They helped each others, and the author closed it nicely. This book is well written, with morals to learn from the event of the day. A beautifully illustrated one too.

Oh we love Conker the chameleon stories! Book 2 is also a cute and fun loving story in ‘Conker and the monkey trap’ by Hannah Peckham. Her rhyming story catches my kiddos attention right away and throughout the story. The illustration are also beautiful and Stephanie Jayne did a wonderful job!

Conker and the Monkey trap features 3 unexpected animal friends who are having a rough go of it for various reasons. Together they learn ways to help themselves and others when they are struggling. The illustrations are vibrant and fun. This would be a good read for early elementary kiddos. I liked how it includes concrete examples of things to do when you don't feel good.

Thanks to Rosen Publishing Group and NetGalley for an eARC of this book for an honest review.
