The amount of times I hear Why in a day….
So that was very accurate.
The words ran smooth and weren’t overwhelming for a short board book.
I think the illustrations were a lot. For my 4 year old it was fine. My two year we would’ve spent forever on each page naming everything if I’d let her.
I liked this book for my kids! The illustrations were well done and really cute, vivid and busy enough to have lots to look at but not too busy to make them annoying. Throughout the book the baby bear asks lots of questions just like any kid would, and the mama gives great answers that reassure baby of her love and care for them. I’d recommend this book to a mama with a little one.
Thank you to the publisher, Familius, and NetGalley for the opportunity to read this digital copy of the board book, Why, Mommy? Why?
This book is gorgeously illustrated with each picture adding so much to the story. This book seeks to answer common toddler questions with in-depth and emotional answers. Would make a great gift for a baby shower!
Such a lovely little story! I particularly loved that they were such simple and commonly asked questions from children, but with a really imaginative and thoughtful way of answering. The illustrations are beautiful too!
A colorful whimsical picture book for young children. The books picks up children’s urge to know “Why?”.
By repeating the same pattern of questioning “Why …, Mommy? Why?” and short answers it invites children to read along.
The illustrations are in a nice warm range of colors and show many little details to search for.
It’s a nice modern twist to have Mama bear have a phone. It would have been even nicer to have Mommy do some activity that isn’t associated with mothers/women (have her go on a hike, repair something small).
But overall a cute good night book.
This is precious. The illustrations are gorgeous and detailed. My 2 year old daughter was spell bound and asked me to read it again after we read it. The story is sweet and I loved how it comes full circle in the end tying all the parts together. It was short and the perfect length for when your toddler wants to read it again and again. I can see it being one they would eventually memorize and read parts along with you. I would buy this for my children and as gifts for friends.
Thank you NetGalley and the publisher for this advanced digital copy.
5/5 stars for this one. This explains in simple terms why moms do the things they do in relation to their children. It is a heartwarming story with cute pictures.
Loved the illustrations and thought the short story was cute! Definitely would be a fun board book. Four stars as I felt it didn’t flow the greatest but overall enjoyable
A wonderfully illustrated book for moms and kids to enjoy together! The clutter of the rooms illustrated made it feel more real and the inclusion of a phone made the story related to families today. Loved the story.
This is a cute and simple book. It would be perfect for toddlers or small children. I love how the book displays that everything a mother does is for her children in some way.
This is one of the most gorgeously illustrated children's books I've seen in a love time!
Love this quick little read for inquisitive little ones. Perfect to add to your nightly bedtime story rotation.
My son and I really loved this book! Thank you NetGalley for the ARC! Such a sweet story and fun pictures that he loved.
Got to Read this book from Netgalley. First the art is really cute, very vibrant colors and there was plenty of small details added in on the backdrop. As for the context, it was enjoyable to read and easy to follow along.
This is such a cute story that is perfect for young children. They love to ask “why” and this has such sweet explanations for a young child.
The art is fantastic and would keep a child looking for something new each time the book is read.
I will recommend this book to new parents.
This was cute and it did feel modern with the addition of having a phone and taking pictures, but the illustrations were a little bit busy. Overall, a cute and quick bedtime story with a great message!
Very heartwarming book! This will be a short review because I only have one bad thing to say about this book. The illustrations were amazingly detailed, I liked how this book was written, and it was organized really well. Additionally, this book is perfect for bedtime when little ones love to play the "What if?" or "Existential Questions" game. This is because the book asks those questions itself, and will engage kids in a unique way that will help relax them for bedtime.
However, I didn't care that much for the title.
Did it make sense? Once I read the book, yes. But, if you just see the title/cover of this book you will likely be confused. That is due to the "ominous" feeling of the title. It definitely seems like there is some sort of abuse element to it, even though that wasn't the case at all. I think that changing the title to something that will match the heartfelt tone of the actual book would help immensely.
Other than that, though, I liked this book!
If you've ever spent any amount of time around young kids, you know how common the "why" questions are. Why, Mommy? Why? addresses this in a sweet way that shows all the ways the mom loves her child. The illustrations are bright and have lots of details for young readers to explore. This would make a great bedtime story for young kids.
Thanks to Familius and NetGalley for an eARC of this book for an honest review.
This was such a cute book. It highlights the things us moms do that sometimes seem minimal or get overlooked but our kids truly do notice it all. I loved the illustrations and how colorful it is. I would definitely purchase this for my son.
LOVED the art in this one! It felt very sweet and cozy. I genuinely think this could be a good Learning Resource for younger kids who are asking all of the "Why" questions. It gives parents something tangible to point to and say, "Remember?" I think this had a perfect amount of words per page for a board book.
To start my review, I'll send a thanks to the author, Tamara Girardi, and the illustrator, Olga Skomorokova, the publisher, Familius, and NetGalley for the opportunity to read this digital copy of the board book, Why, Mommy? Why? I'll share my review to Goodreads, Barnes & Noble, and Amazon upon release.
This cute book focuses on the kinds of questions asked by children and the ways we can react to give children an empathetic and imaginative view of the world. Curiosity is a strength to be encouraged, and this book does just that! The mother bear in this book is very patient and understanding of all the questions asked by her little cub, and the illustrations that accompany the questions are absolutely lovely. The animals were all so, so cute and will draw the attention and adoration of children, for sure. I adored the page with the bubbles of possibility for the future adventures of the cub. Those were super adorable and detailed! I'd recommend for children aged 3 and under. I thoroughly enjoyed this cute little kid's picture book!
