This is a story of a young Ojibwa girl in the mid-1800s.
Story starts with the author Louise Erdrich encouraging readers to download the PDF ‘Enhancement’ Guide’ which includes map, glossary as well as a pronunciation guide.
It is a children’s story however to me that age group seems a bit young. I am sure they would enjoy it if someone reads the story to them.
In fact the audiobook read by the author was better than I expected. I loved the way she pronounced ALL the words.
(I am not a fan of author reading their books – true they know it and can talk about the story but performing the characters is not as easy as one thinks. However, this was done very nicely as it contained so much information!)
The end of the book Ms. Erdrich included the typical acknowledgements but far more information about the Ojibwas. A Glossary/dictionary explaining the words- which is a must read – or in my case a great section to listen!!
Want to thank NetGalley and Harper Audio Childrens’~ Harper Collins for this audiobook.
