Review: Tonight, I Bleed by Katharine J. Adams. Firstly, how absolutely stunning is the cover art on Katharine’s books?! They say “Don’t judge a book by it’s cover” but I think in this case you absolutely can. This book was beautiful, intricate, memorable, bold and very well written. I had only just read Tonight, I Burn, and the concept of these witches who must take turns to literally burn every single night just drew me in. There’s a lot going on in this second book, and for me I handled it well as someone who loves fantasy but takes awhile to process it. I enjoyed the character development and Penny becoming more assertive and sure of herself, and the pacing was spot on.
Thoroughly enjoyed this book and can’t wait to read the third instalment!
4.5/5
Thankyou to Katharine, Hachette Australia & NZ and NetGalley for the chance to read an advance copy in exchange for my honest opinion.

Unfortunately I did not enjoy this book as much as I enjoyed Burn. I felt this books was much slower paced and somewhat predictable.

The battle between good & evil is about to get hotter. The Warden has been taken to death but he still lives. Can Penny & Malin destroy him forever or will they lose the battle? They have fought so hard and even after everything they have been through together they might lose each other. Will Penny be strong enough to fight to find Alice?
A great storyline. Great characters. Penny, Malin & Alice deserve to be happy but can they ever really heal from all their scars?
Thank you Netgalley & the publisher for the copy. This is my voluntary review.

Penny is a thorn witch, walking Death is her birthright, but the Warden is keeping her locked away, his pet Death Weaver. The Resistance continue to fight the Warden, while Malin sits by his side. Penny has to try to save Alice and her coven from the Warden, and decide whether to ally with an old magic to do so.

I started reading Tonight, I Bleed directly after finishing Tonight, I Burn and I'm so sad I now have to wait to continue Penny's story! I loved seeing the development of Penny's relationship with her family in this book. Penny, Ella and Mila are closer than ever and put their trust in one another to do what needs to be done, to support each other even when they are scared.
Penny continues to try to protect Alice from the Warden, and sees Malin sitting beside the Warden and wonders if she can still trust him. Dante, one of the guards, plays a bigger part in this story, as a member of the Resistance and in supporting Penny.
I don't want to say too much and give spoilers for book one or for this story, but I loved seeing Penny find her strength and advocate for herself, even against those she loves who want to protect her. I could feel the pressure on Penny from the tenuous situation with Death and the Gilded and it shows what sort of character she is, when she won't let anyone deter her from her desire to save her friends and family.

I loved staying in this world and I look forward to returning again. Katharine J. Adams paints a vivid picture of Hallstatt and Death and her characters and I loved immersing myself in it for a few more days.

What a great sequel to Tonight I Burn! 🔥

Yes this will leave you on another cliffhanger for the next book but definitely worth the read!

We learn more about the characters in this story and not all is what it seems.

Make sure you add this little gem to your TBR pile x.
