Solitude. Poetry. Nature. These made up the Journal of a Solitude. I have been on the lookout for May Sarton after reading her other memoir, Plant Dreaming Deep. Filled with impressions of the passing season, inner turmoil, her pets, loved neighbors, and the appreciation of home, this memoir is all sorts of wonderful silence and lamentations, of poetry everywhere you look and varying stages of solitary journey.

One day, I will reread this and mayhap, write my own journal of solitude.

May Sarton is a favorite author of mine and I have read all her body of work. I found this a delightful read and am so appreciative to read her views on the beauty of solitude. A wonderful read.
