Thank you to Dreamscape for the early review copy of the audiobook. My opinions are my own.
I devoured the previous book in the series, and had high hopes for this because I loved Daphne and Monty in that one, and this book was fantastic. I really enjoyed the dual narration by Dani Cochrane and Rusty Mewha. I flew through the book and stayed up past my bedtime to finish reading the story alternating between reading with my eyes and listening to the audiobook.
I thoroughly enjoyed the bargain that they made for mutual benefit, and I loved figuring out all of the little clues to what happened to Monty in the past. And Araminta is a hilarious side character with some questionable habits.
Read this if you want:
- Fae
- friends with benefits
- can't kiss (it would mean it's real)
- full length mirror scene
- MMC under the burden of secrets
- FMC with a true feral side
- goth paper sprite
- attending a wedding
Highly recommend!

If you are in need of a diverting series, look no further than the Fae Flings and Corset Strings historical romantasy series by Tessonja Odette.
In the second book, fae shifter Daphne, whom we met in her pine marten form as a publicity intern in A Rivalry of Hearts, is still working at the publisher but now primarily in her seelie, more human, form. She has been given the opportunity to illustrate scenes for her favorite author’s romance novels, but she just can’t seem to get the males in the drawings right. She just doesn’t have the—ahem—experience to draw them in the throes of passion.
Monty Phillips, the other publicist from book one, is now working as a romance advice columnist at a popular periodical. He has grand plans to turn his columns into a book, but the publisher isn’t interested unless he includes a case study. Whomever should he choose as his subject?
Daphne once thought she and Monty were friends, but the last time they saw each other, he dashed her hopes and walked away.
Now, the two former friends and coworkers agree to an arrangement. He will pose as inspiration for her illustrations and she will allow him to instruct her as part of his matchmaking schemes.
Whatever could go wrong?
This is an absolute delight!
Read it for
- The neurodivergent rep
- The vulnerability the characters show each other
- Monty’s innuendo-laden comments
- Daphne’s curiosity
- Monty’s “Uh oh, surely I’m not falling in love” moments
- The mirror scene
- The introduction to Araminta, the FMC in the next book (She cracked me up!)
I thoroughly enjoyed the audiobook narration by Dani Cochrane and Rusty Mewha. They especially played the humorous moments well. I listened to this one with a big grin on my face.
I received an advance copy of the audiobook from Dreamscape Media. All review opinions are my own.

"My Feral Romance" was pretty decent! It was a bit different from the first book "A Rivalry of Hearts". That's not a bad thing at all. The first book was yummy with tension and sexy moments from what I remembered. This latest entry into the series explored more of the emotional side of relationships and delved into toxic family dynamics. Monty and Daphne were fun to read about. It's lighter on the smut but you can still feel the chemistry. I loved the slight jealousy Monty showed. Araminta is kinda hilarious. About time someone arrested her. Jk! lol The arc itself was in audiobook format, and I really enjoyed the narrators in this one!
Thank you NetGalley for this arc!

4.5/5
This book was so much fun! This whole series (Fae Flings and Corset Strings) has been such a breath of fresh air, both humorous and swoon-worthy.
In My Feral Romance, you have a socially anxious painter and an unsolicited meddling matchmaker who enter into a bargain for modeling sessions in exchange for trying out dating tips. My favorite part of this story is that Daphne gets to be the violent one, and Monty gets to look at her lovingly while she does it.
I love the rules and proprieties of the English Regency period with the chaos of fae bargains and customs. Can I also applaud the comparison of He's Just Not that Into You? I watched it recently and I kept thinking, this is Alex and Gigi but so much better!
Dani Cochrane and Rusty Mewha did a fantastic job with the narration.
I can't wait to see what misadventure Amarantha gets herself into!

4.25
This was lovely, if not quite as good as the first book, and I couldn't put it down! I do think `that this is more enjoyable if you've read the "Entangled with Fae" series, particularly the fifth book, which I luckily have recently read. I also recommend the audio as Dani Cochrane and Rusty Mewha do a great job and make the dialogue very engaging.
Daphne is looking for a model for her smutty book illustrations and Monty needs someone to give courtship lessons for a writing project. They could be perfect partners, only they used to be work buddies who had a bit of a falling out. Can they resolve their differences and work together? What happens when some feelings start to get in the way of their well laid plans?

In the first book in this series, Daphne and Monty are enemies to friends, so in a sense you can call this an enemies to lovers romance if you follow the whole trajectory. They both have reasons to avoid entanglement, but with a little communication and a lot of silliness, everything is resolved in the end.
Both characters are witty, so their dialog is fast-paced and hilarious. This is a great series, with charming characters and lots of light-hearted banter.
Great audio narration, although I did like the female narrator significantly more.

3.5 stars
I always find it so strange when mystical creatures succumb to the perils of capitalism. Like you can literally shift into a fox type creature and prance about and you have magic, but you CHOOSE to get a shitty job at a newspaper. Why? Can’t relate.
There was a lot going on in this story as I tried to keep track of the different characters and their individual struggles, as well as working out the magic and different types of creatures we might encounter. I was glad for the comic relief that was sprinkled in and the banter between the MCs.
Thanks to #netgallery, the author and the publisher for access to this ARC

My Feral Romance
by Tessonja Odette
Narrated by Dani Cochrane; Rusty Mewha
I received an ARC of this audiobook through Netgalley.
The two main characters have serious obstacles in the way of them being together - magically binding obstacles.
This is a fae world with different types of fae, different sizes too, and humans that know about fae.
I was confused about some parts. If a fae can sometimes be a furry creature and sometimes be a human - can they change their gender? Can they choose to look different?
I also felt like the ending of this book came nearly two hours before the audiobook finished. It was just such a strong, intense climactic moment that it seemed like the perfect ending. The last 2 hours were good, but couldn’t compare to that one scene.
I enjoyed this book and the imagery. I just think the world-building needed a bit more structure.
I think this has the makings of a great series that could get better with each new book.
I recommend this book for romantasy fans like me. This was 100% up my alley!

A fae world friends to lovers with all the best parts of a romance novel. Daphne and Monty used to be friends until Monty gets fired and doesn't return Daphne's attempts to continue to be friends. A year later, Monty is back and he has regrets. Maybe he can make it up to Daphne in a mutually beneficial professional bargain.
This book was so fun. The banter, spice, story, and characters were all wonderfully done and the characters are lovable. I didn't realize it was part of a series and I can not wait to dive into the rest of them. As a fantasy and romance reader, this was the perfect swap of romance with a touch of fantasy instead of the other way around. The magic wasn't the main part of the story but it added such whimsy. The focus was the romance story and so the world building took a backseat, but without taking away from the story or entertainment.
The dual narration was appreciated and enjoyable. I received this audiobook as an ARC from NetGalley and Dreamscape Media, opinions are my own.

This was such a cute romance I really loved it and was friends/rivals to lovers with fae, shifters, magic, spice and more really worth the read highly recommend

Full disclosure: I loved Rivalry of Hearts so I went into this one already hoping to love it too. Reader, I was NOT disappointed.
Tessonja Odette has once again created characters with humor, nuance, and passion. I loved seeing the chemistry between Daphne and Monty but even more so I was thrilled to see the companionship and comfort that slowly bloomed between these two, often against their wills.
This is a lovely expansion on the world of the first book (and connects to her others well, although I haven't read those (yet!) but it can be read as a standalone and enough worldbuilding exists to keep the reader informed.
Go pick up this cozy book for those long winter nights.
Then join me in waiting impatiently for the next.

Highly recommended for those who loves:
✨️ Friends-to-lovers
✨️ He Falls First
✨️ Forced Proximity
✨️ Touch Him and You Die
Intriguing storyline, beautiful writing style, well-paced, and loveable characters make this book so hard to put down!
I was glad to see familiar characters like Briony and Thorne make an appearance as well as new adorable character like Araminta, whom I adore!
I’m loving the chemistry between Monty and Daphne. They’re not perfect, but their flaw makes me love them even more as I get to know them throughout the story.
I love their banter, which shows how comfortable they are with each other without having to pretend and just be free to be themselves.
My favorite part would be the moment where they finally open up to each other about their deepest fear and raw feelings.
As you can tell from the title, the romance is feral, messy and a bit rough so if you like spicy romance then you won’t be disappointed with Monty and Daphne!
I read this book along with the audio version I got from Netgalley. Both narrators did a great job in delivering this story!
However, I noticed there’s one chapter missing from the audio version when I was reading the book.
Overall, My Feral Romance is an incredible read and definitely going into my favorite list of books in 2024!
The bonus epilogue at the end was the perfect preview for the next book. I can’t wait to get my hands on that book next year!
⚠️ 𝐓𝐖: adult situations, explicit language, fantasy drug use, childhood trauma, descriptive on page sex scenes (medium spice), sexual activity in public spaces (without an audience), violence, blood, illegal fighting sport and mild gore.

I adored A Rivalry of Hearts and the sequel did not disappoint! I loved really getting to know Monty and Daphne and see them learn to trust each other. Daphne is an amazing heroine. I loved seeing her find someone who really appreciated her for her whole self and seeing Monty learn to open up. Their chemistry was great and I really enjoyed seeing them try to not fall for each other while actively falling for each other.
I also loved how the magic was woven into this story while keeping the romance as the central conflict. Anyone who loves fantasy elements but couldn't care less about a war or anything that requires a map this is for you! I really struggle to find books like this so I scream about every single one!
I listened to the audiobook narration of this story and loved it! Dani Cochrane and Rusty Mewha did the narration together. Dani is a new to me narrator but also did the audio for A Rivalry of Hearts. Romance readers may recognize Rusty from The Match by Sarah Adams.

3.5/5 Stars | My Fair Lady but with Fae
What I liked: The Banter! The pining! The adorable emotional reveals and growth both as people and as a couple! This was so cute and SPOT ON for the description of "Bridgerton meets My Fair Lady and a dash of He’s Just Not That Into You." This can be read as a standalone. It was a dual POV book, with dual narration and the audiobook was fantastic!
What I didn't like: It's possible I'm just in the mood for something more plot-driven, but the plot on here felt so easily resolved. Any conflicts could have been easily resolved prior to any shenanigans and that was deflating at the end of the book.
Thanks to NetGalley and Dreamscape Media for the copy of this audiobook!

My Feral Romance was just as funny as "A Rivalry of Hearts"
The story was very captivating and I laughed a lot!
The tension and spice was top notch. AND the chemistry between Daphne and Monty was everything I wanted!
This series holds a special place in my heart!
A very cozy rom-com fantasy that worked very well as an audiobook!

This is a light and fun romantasy - a friends-to-lovers tale of a fae (shape)-shifter, who mostly takes on a human shape to live as an artist, and her colleague, who denounced his inheritance and works as an advice columnist on sexual topics. Of course it’s really a story about accepting people and loving them for who they are, or having the courage to be alone in order to find someone else who gets you.
This is officially the second book in a series but was described as a stand-alone. I haven’t read #1 but it took only a short while to understand the shape shifting and some terminology specific to this world used in context. It was enjoyable, and I can see why regular readers of fantasy and romance would give it high marks. Not my primary genres, but a fun outing.
My thanks to the author, publisher, producer, and #NetGalley for access to the #MyFerelRomance audiobook for review purposes. The book and audio are currently available.

I didn't read the previous book in this series, but that's OK, it didn't matter. I loved it! Perfectly adorable. Perfect narration.
Many thanks to Net Galley and Dreamscape Media for an audio ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.

This was so cute! This story follows Monty and Daphne as they find their way back to each other as friends and then more than friends. I don't love the "self-hating mmc" trope but Daphne was a strong character and gave Monty the appropriate amount of shit for it. Her character strikes a really good balance between insecurity and bold decisiveness. She isn't sure of herself all the time but she does the things that scare her anyway and she does them with conviction. I think the character's in book 1 had more chemistry and a more realistic relationship flow but I still had a great time with this sequel.

It is hard for a sequel to live up to the perfection of the first book in the series and this not only lived up to it, in ways it surpassed it. Monty was a marvel, so beautifully written and the slow burn of their romance had a perfect pay off.
