Kelli and Rob both junior crime reporters obsessed with true crimes, help discover a psychopathic serial killer. Now when a body is found near her house, she has another chance to prove herself.
Crime and mystery lovers will enjoy this tale, it is well written, witty, fast-paced and funny dark comedy, I realized this is a debut author, I would like to read the next work.

First, I want to thank #NetGalley, #boldwoodbooks and #tambarnett for the opportunity to review this ARC #HowtoGetAwaywithMurder ) in exchange for my honest review. All opinions are my own.
This story follows crime journalist Kelli Amari who is a self proclaimed true crime enthusiast. However this is a borderline obsession that she appears to struggle with.
The prologue immediately started with Kelli doing a test
"Are you a clinical psychopath?". This part was brilliant for me because who hasn't sat and done numerous quizzes completely convinced that it is you. This felt very relatable and likened me to her character. Did this feeling continue the whole book? Not quite- she is a character that you as the reader don't necessarily like but you want to know what is going to happen with her so you continue her story.
I did not see all of the twists coming, I was surprised by who was actually guilty. However due to some of Kelli's actions I did predict some aspects because I feel there were a few suggestions leading up to some aspects in particular.
My favorite part of this book was the various references to serial killers and their crimes. The book was incredibly well researched and these little facts were worked so well into the book that it flowed and didn't slow the story but rather added to it.
Initially I did find the book a bit slow to start because I just wasn't completely sure about it. In the end I managed to read over 50% in one afternoon because I just could not stop reading!
This was definitely a 5
read for me that I thoroughly
enjoyed and would definitely read again and recommend to others!

How To Get Away With Murder by Tam Barnett, Kelly is a credited with solving the white widow murders a serial killer who she also named. Even after he’s been tried and convicted she is still visiting him and is the only person he’ll speak to about his crimes. There is someone however who holds a grudge over all of Kelly‘s success and that was her prior coworker Rob, who was investigating the white widow case with her. After her 15 minutes of success however her career has taken a downturn until recently when the white widow is now going to be a documentary on Netflix, and to add to that there’s new strange murders happening in the woods close to her home someone is using a nail gun to embed nails into the eyes and esophagus of the victims and Kelly seems hell-bent on breaking the case but so is Rob. Kelly only gets a leg up on the competition when she becomes part of the investigation when the killer starts leaving notes and other things outside of the home she shares with boyfriend Ben. Ever since Kelly’s dad went to jail for manslaughter she’s been obsessed with True Crime his incarceration and death soon after has caused her and her mom to have issues and to make matters worse she thinks her best friend Paula is being beaten by her boyfriend. So many things to worry about and when it’s all said and done those problems will look like recess at a preschool and the winner of the best reporter will definitely be determined. I found this book to be so good but couldn’t decide if I loved or hated her but either way she was definitely entertaining. I do want to say I was shocked when the first thing that was said after all of the violence and debauchery was an acknowledgment to Jesus Christ. I mean he is my Lord and Savior I just had to chuckle that that was the first person she acknowledged. I loved this book and anyone who loves a good mystery with a very original character as theMC you will definitely love this as much as I did or at least I hope you do. #NetGalley, #BoldwoodBooks, #HowToGetAwayWithMurder, #TamBarnett,

i am not used to reading books where you are meant to hate the main character, and that is why it took me a while to get into the book, but once i got used to the pacing and format of the book, i could not put it down!! it was so thrilling getting to go along a journalist investigating a murder case. i have to admit, there were so many twists towards the end that it made my head spin with how much was happening, and i almost wish the last chapter did not happen because i got attached to the main character and was rooting for her in the end! i genuinely enjoyed this book, and will be recommending it to my fellow true crime lovers!

This was good! I loved Ben, the softy boyfriend of our main character Kelli, he’s what really made me like the book. I will say, I knew who the killer was I thought it was predictable. I did NOT however see the last twist coming, that one got me.
The story follows the Kelli Amari, a journalist, who caught a killer and is trying to catch a new one. Luckily these new murders are happening quite literally in her back yard.

Here's a long and slow story for a simple plot, and thus not what I prefer. The characters are OK, but the comic part I don't get.

An interesting take on a serial killer troupe - girl catches serial killer - girl keeps communication with serial killer - serial killer on the loose in her neighborhood - who did it - why- when - was it her? It did keep my interest as far as wanting to know how it all ended and answering the Who, What, Where questions - but the whole vibe of the main character seemed a bit off to me

This sounded fab when I read the synopsis, true crime buff wanting to commit the perfect crime - yes please! It didn’t disappoint.
Kelli is obsessed with true crime. She watches it for hours, reads about it and is a crime journalist, so who better to get away with it! A spate of murders are happening around the local area Kelli lives and she starts investigating. Before long, she’s questioning herself - did she do it?
Equal measures of laughs and seriousness throughout, this book had my attention from the beginning. Great writing style and the plot was twisty and turny all the way to the end. And what an ending!!

I found this book just wasn't for me. It was silly and far-fetched and it really irritated me. Having an obsession with a killer just didn't feel right. I struggled through it and was glad to finish it. My thanks to Netgalley and the publishers for giving me the opportunity to read this book in return for an honest review.

OMG! This was the best book I’ve read in a while. This kept me hooked the whole time. Kelli is obsessed with true crime. She catches a serial killer and wants to write a book about him. Then murders start around her house in the woods. Who is this mysterious serial killer?

This was a twisty murder thriller, I didn't uncover the killer which made it more exciting when I found out who it was. When bodies start turning up with nails in them, local reporter Kelli wants to find out who’s doing them and will go to any means to get it. This was a fast paced thriller with some great characters and a great plot. The author is very good at plotting the murders and covered them up very well. 4 star read
Thanks to Netgalley and the publishers for a copy.

How to Get Away with Murder follows Kelli, a journalist who has a fascination for serial killers, who is writing a book about a serial killer she caught, The White Widower and at the same time is trying to look for a new serial killer, The Nailer., who just started killing on her backyard.
I tried so hard to like this book unfortunately it just was not for me. There were some parts of the book that I did enjoy like Kelli's obsession with serial killers and befriending one (Dick, aka The White Widower) was a great part of the story, I did enjoy their meetings. Kelli was such an unreliable narrator which at times it worked but others it made it very hard to keep reading. I did finish the book and the last twist was a bit predictable but well written.
Overall, this book had a lot of potential as the plot concept is a great and something I do love reading about but overall I just could not connect with the characters and some parts of the story.
Thank you NetGalley and Boldwood Books for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Being honest, I found it all a bit far-fetched, but once I suspended disbelief I really enjoyed it!
It was a fast-paced, twisty thriller with a great amount of suspense and curve-balls.
Perfect for true crime fans.

This book was provided to me via NetGalley in turn of my honest review. Honestly some parts of this book were good but other parts were hard to get through. I figured out the "plot twist" pretty early on but I must admit at the very beginning the author had me fooled.
The main character was very selt-centered, narrow, pretty unlikeable and on top of that the author made it seem like everyone wanted her attention. Super off-putting to me. Her obsession with this murderer was not enjoyable and her neediness to be liked and to flaunt what she's capable of was not necessary to me.
The ease with which the murders happened is also mind-boggling to me. The descriptions of all the drunks and poor, homeless people was over the top for me.
The book had me hooked on the mystery of the ninth victim, just for the author to drop it in the end and not tell us anything (I waited the whole book for the reveal).
The other reporter.. I have no idea why he cared so much about the main character's business, it felt very immature. Journalism seemed very twisted and a sorry excuse of a job here, I would not be proud to be a journalist if I were these characters. Let me make it clear, I disliked EVERYONE in this book. Not one likeable character..
2 stars as I truly was hooked on the offered mystery.
Maybe this book just wasn't the scene for me.

It was very hard for me to get into this book. The writing style lacked emotion, not a whole lot going on, and the killer was both obvious and made no sense. A good portion of this story is descriptive fluff and not laying the foundation for the mystery. And yet, it’s told in a cold and unfeeling manner. If that was the authors intention then they nailed it. But for me, it was hard to care about a story that read like the author was bored while writing it.

70/100 or 3.50 stars
This was a fun thriller that I was able to devour in one sitting. I was able to predict what would happen, but I still enjoyed my time reading and wanted to keep reading to see if my predictions were correct (they were). I liked the way this story ends, as I can see how some readers would have no idea what is going to happen next. I figured it out and still had a good time!
The best part about this is the complexity within the characters around psychopathy and how that impacts their lives throughout the novel. It was a bloody good time, and I would be interested in picking up future work from Barnett!

This book was a good, short read. However, I wasn't a huge fan of the MC and found a lot of inconsistencies that were a bit frustrating with her character. For example, she's obsessed with serial killers, true crime, and enjoys torture porn, but is terrified of the dark/what's waiting in the dark and needs pills to sleep? That doesn't make sense and she constantly flip flops with this behavior throughout the book. There was also a lot of telling and not showing which made the plot drag. Overall, it was an okay read. It just didn't catch my attention and hold it.

I really struggle with books when I don’t like any of the characters and can’t connect with any of them. Unfortunately, that was the case with this book. It started off with some promise, but I just couldn’t continue rooting for anyone.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for this ARC!
A fast paced, twisty thriller with a true crime obsessed main character- Yes please!
Kelli, a journalist living in a small town, previously was involved in the capture of a prolific serial killer. The book is set a number of years later when Kelli herself is now old news. She’s looking for the next thing that could give her a boost and get her back into the game when a suspicious death occurs in the forest behind her house. Kelli is immediately all in and to her surprise finds that dead bodies are not the only thing close to home.
I really enjoyed this novel, it kept me on the edge of my seat and wanting to keep going to see what was going to happen next. It was a great choice to make Kelli an unreliable narrator!
If you’re looking for your next read and really want to be hooked in, I’d definitely recommend checking this out!

Thank you to the publisher, author and NetGalley for the ARC in exchange for my honest review!
I liked “how to get away with murder” it has great pacing, lots of twists and turns and was written well. I will say I did clock the killer before the end but I also normally do so I wouldn’t say it’s predictable and boring. It reminded me of AGGGTM series or the truly devious series.
Would recommend !
