Wow. What a fantastic debut from Rachel Paris. It has everything I need in a great psychological thriller: suspense, mystery, drama, secrets, and betrayal.

Rachel's writing style is addictive, I honestly couldn't put it down, I read it in one sitting.
I loved everything about it: the setting, the atmosphere, the fantastic twists, and the characters, especially Skye and Mei. The majority of the other characters were reprehensible, more the love to hate type, which made it all the more interesting.

The twists and turns were crazy good. I thought I had it figured out at one point, but I wasn't even close.
Rachel is an amazing new talent on the thriller scene, and I'll be eagerly awaiting her next novel.

Fans of Rose Carlyle, Lucy Foley, Ruth Ware, and Lucy Clarke should definitely read See How They Fall.

I can't recommend this book highly enough.

5 stars from me. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Thanks to Netgalley, Hachette Australia & New Zealand, and Rachel Paris for the chance to read this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

This dual-perspective, who-done-it thriller is an absolute page-turner!
The story centers around Skye Turner, who is married to a wealthy businessman with a large, tight-knit family. But do they have a secret?
During a family dinner where they gather to discuss the family business, tragedy strikes-someone is killed, and another is left in critical condition.
Detective Mei is assigned to investigate the case. On the surface, the family appears 'normal,' but is everything as it seems?
Rachel's debut thriller is not only filled with twists and turns but kept me guessing until the very last page. Her talent for storytelling made this a brilliant read. I especially enjoyed the character development, both Skye and Mei are strong and resilient characters!
I'd definitely recommend reading this asap!

I made the mistake of starting this book on a Tuesday night. I should have waited until the weekend, as I didn't want to put it down. I was hooked until the last page, and didn't come close to working out what was happening or who committed the crime.

The book was told through the eyes of Skye, the wife of one of the Turner family sons and mother of 6yo Tilly; and Sergeant Mei O'Connor, who is investigating the case.

I really enjoyed how we learned about the case, as well as some of the personal and professional challenges Skye and Mei were currently going through.

See How They Fall is author Rachel Paris's debut novel, and I am looking forward to see what is next for her. Hopefully a return for Mei and many more novels!

Very good debut Aussie thriller! Well paced, and engrossing. I loved the subtle hints and twists that lead to a satisfying conclusion.

The highlighting of female paranoia is important, and I liked that this only involved the POVs of two very different female characters.

Will definitely look out for more of Paris’ novels!

A riveting debut, this tense psychological thriller had me hooked immediately.

It is written from the POV’s of Skye - who attends a family gathering where her sister in law is murdered and her daughter Tilly is poisoned , and Mei - a young female detective simultaneously trying to prove herself at work whilst also caring for her sick Mother with whom she has a strained relationship.

Every family member has secrets of their own and as the story unfolds, the tension builds, keeping you captivated and on the edge of your seat until the very end.

I really love a good thriller and this one is up there with some of the best I have read! I’m excited to read whatever Rachel writes next!

𝕄𝕪 ℝ𝕒𝕥𝕚𝕟𝕘: 4.5/5 ☆

This was an absolutely cracking debut novel and if this is the standard of Rachel Paris' first book then I can't wait to see what she comes up with next.

This is a book that sucks you in from the very start with the main event happening in the first few chapters. The rest of the story is full of reveals and a host of unlikable character's that will have you rooting for the good guys.

The children of a recently deceased wealthy business mogul and their families gather at a holiday estate . Just a few days in and one adult and one child have been poisoned. With one losing their life and the other left fighting for their life every family member becomes a suspect.

See How They Fall is written from the perspective of family member Skye Turner and Detective Mei O'Connor as they try to find out who is responsible and why the poisonings occurred.

A very bingeable murder mystery!

Wow, this was such an intense read!!

This is a fast-paced, twisty thriller that had me hooked from page one and gasping out loud more times than I can count. Every time I thought I knew where things were heading, another surprise came out of nowhere.

Once I got used to the dual POV, I was fully invested in both perspectives. The pacing was relentless, and the tension just kept building, making it impossible to put down. My heart was seriously racing so many times!! That said, this isn’t just an edge-of-your-seat thriller. It dives into some dark and heavy topics and it really hit hard, so I’d definitely recommend checking content warnings if you prefer to be aware of those things.

If you love thrillers that keep you hooked while also making you feel something, this is one to pick up. I won’t be forgetting it anytime soon!

Big thanks to NetGalley, Hachette Australia & Rachel Paris for the early copy!

As a debut book for this author, my expectations were truly exceeded! Meet the Turner family: Duncan, Jamie and Hugo. They are the sons of the late Sir Campbell Turner. A multi billionaire who has recently passed away. They all meet up for the weekend at Yallambee to discuss the estate. The weekend turns in to tragedy and unimaginable consequences for the family with one member dying and another in a bad way in hospital. Give this book a read if you enoy Liane Moriarty or Sally Hepworth!

Thank you Hachette Australia and Netgalley for a gifted copy of the book for my honest book review.

I enjoyed this one, it’s hard to believe this is a debut! There were moments that made me feel quite stressed as a mum but it was definitely a fast paced read that had me gripping the edge of my seat. I had to keep going.

Although I found some of the plot predictable I was pleasantly surprised by the final twist because it completely blindsided me.

If you liked The Perfect Couple, I would recommend this book.

achel Paris’s debut is a fast-paced and tension-filled book, told from the dual POVs of two strong female leads.

Skye is married to Duncan, son of the famously wealthy Sir Campbell Turner. When Sir Campbell passes away, Duncan, his two brothers, and their respective families, meet in one of their palatial Sydney estates to discuss their succession plan. Their first night together, however, starts with arguments and accusations, and ends with two members of the family falling victim to arsenic poisoning.

Mei O’Connor is the police detective brought in to investigate the poisoning. We soon learn Mei has her own personal problems which, of course, leads to further complications with the case. I really liked Mei and hope Paris will consider making her the star of a series.

As Skye and Mei uncover more and more of the Turners’ secrets, Paris built the tension beautifully and I really had no idea how they would manage to extricate themselves from the family’s evil clutches.

With topical serious themes of domestic violence, sexual abuse and gas lighting, Paris has written a modern domestic thriller which would be perfect for fans of authors like Sally Hepworth and Liv Constantine.

An Australian Crime Thriller that will have you keeping on guessing who did it until the end.

I absolutely enjoyed the female dynamic in this one on how a mother would do anything to protect her child and a female detective that keeps on pushing on her instincts. I was so invested to find out who did the poisonings that i couldn't put it down.

Thank you so much hachette for gifting me an earc for an honest review.

Have you ever had the joy of reading a great book while watching an equally great TV series at the same time? That was me with this one, and the crime thriller levels in my house were through the roof.

See How They Fall was described as a gripping thriller with twists you won’t see coming and that’s spot on!

It had all the ingredients for a solid crime thriller - rich, wealthy families with dark secrets, mafias, investigations, mystery and murder. The suspense was high, and the dual viewpoints of the two main characters made it impossible to put down.

It’s hard to believe this is a debut, but you can bet I’ll be lining up for Rachel Paris’ next thriller.

If you love female Aussie crime authors and drama filled thrillers in the style of Ali Lowe or Kelli Hawkins, you’ll be gripped by this one.

A big thank you to Hachette and NetGalley for the sneak peek!

If you can't trust family.. who can you trust?

Meet the Turner family: Duncan, Jamie and Hugo. They are the sons of the late Sir Campbell Turner. A multi billionaire who has recently passed away. They all meet up for the weekend at Yallambee to discuss the estate. The weekend turns in to tragedy and unimaginable consequences for the family with one member dying and another in a bad way in hospital.

A very well written Australian debut family thriller full of plot twists, lies and unlikable characters. Told in two points of view from both Skye and Mei. I absolutely loved Detective Mei O'Connor and would love to see her more in the future. Money does not bring happiness and this is exactly the case for this book. I recommend reading this one if you love a good Australian thriller.

Thank you Hachette Australia and Netgalley for a gifted copy of the book for my honest book review.

See How They Fall was a page-turner that hooked me from the very first page. Set against the backdrop of a wealthy, powerful family, the story kicks off when the Turner brothers and their families gather at their late patriarch’s estate to discuss the will. But the reunion takes a dark turn—the next day one family member is dead, and another is fighting for their life in the hospital.

Told through alternating perspectives, we follow Skye—wife to one of the Turner brothers and mother to six-year-old Tilly—and Sergeant Mei O’Connor, the detective determined to uncover the truth. While Mei’s boss insists the case is open-and-shut, she isn’t convinced. Ignoring direct orders, she continues digging, uncovering layer upon layer of secrets and betrayals.

As the story unfolds, the Turner family’s dark past and hidden motives emerge, leaving readers questioning who can truly be trusted. With plenty of twists, backstabbing, and shocking revelations, this thriller keeps you hooked until the final page. I also loved the Australian (Sydney) setting, which added an extra layer of authenticity to the story.

Thank you to the publisher Hachette for sending me an early copy to review via Netgalley.

See How They Fall has everything I want in a book - rich people behaving badly, family drama and intrigue.

See How They Fall is about the rich and powerful Turner family who's patriarch has just died and his sons are now scrambling on how the business will carry on.

They come together over the Easter long weekend and this is where the story begins. Tensions are high and things only get worse when one of the sons illegitimate son arrives. After dinner on the first night things take a dark turn and the family will never be the same again.

Told from two perspectives, one of the sons wives, Skye, and police officer Mei, you are never quite sure what is true and what you can believe. The pacing is great and I found myself sneaking time to read it - a true sign I'm enjoying a book!

With a twist at the end that you won't see coming, I highly recommend reading.

It is always refreshing to read a book set in your own country, especially one as beautiful as Australia. As soon as saw this was the case I decided to read this book and am very pleased I did.

Told in multiple POV’s this is story of well off despicable people who have the world at their feet and take it for granted. A billionaire family but as the old saying goes, money does not always bring happiness. Skye meets Duncan and her world is thrown up side down. Duncan is one of three sons of the very rich and respected Campbell family, Money made by Sir Campbell Turner. Syke is now living a life of luxury but while on a weekend away with the family to a beautiful resort, deadly games are at play. One of the family will die while another will be in hospital struggling to stay alive. For Sergeant Mei O’Connor, she now has the unfortunate job of trying to unravel what has happened and who is responsible, all while caring for her terminally ill mother.

Lies, family dynamics, secrets and betrayal all come together to make this a very enjoyable fast paced thriller Half way through the book we are presented with an extremely clever twist I did not see coming and this then moves the book along at an increased pace. A thoroughly enjoyable book that I would recommend if you wish to escape for a few hours and move into the Campbell’s world, one that I am glad I was not born into.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for an advanced copy, all opinions expressed are my own.

See How They Fall by Rachel Paris. Get this book on your list, I absolutely loved it!
It’s about three brothers and their families who reunite at the family estate after their father’s passing. Tension boils over when an illegitimate heir shows up, and a tragic event starts the ball rolling to reveal everyone’s secrets and lies.
I really enjoyed how fast paced this book was, the action started straight away, my jaw was dropping and there was often a cliffhanger ending to each chapter which made it pretty much impossible to put down. I liked the different points of view, I got to follow the investigation with Mei, the detective on the case, who is also dealing with issues of her own.
I recommend this to anyone who loves a quick, addictive, twisty thriller. I didn’t pick the ending and I didn’t know who to trust, who was innocent, and who was guilty. I honestly loved this book, it’s an easy 5⭐️.
Thankyou SO MUCH to @rachelparisauthor @hachetteaus @hachettenz @moapress @netgalley for the opportunity to read an advance copy, this is my honest review.

Paris’ debut domestic thriller ticks all the boxes- twists and turns and interesting characters. It was hard to put down. You’re grabbed immediately from the start and it keeps up a good pace the whole way through. I enjoyed all the different plot developments , some I guessed, others took me completely by surprise. As well as the whodunnit element it also cover a range of different topics- toxic males/ misogyny, post partum psychosis and infertility.

Set in Sydney, it was interesting to get a peek behind the scenes of the ultra rich.
Told from a dual point of view we get to know the mother of the victim, Skye Turner and police detective Mei O’Connor. Both women were interesting, flawed and you just wanted to see them both succeed. A clever and gripping thriller perfect for fans of Sally Hepworth, Kelli Hawkins and Liane Moriarty.
