4 Wine Glass #Review of Night Unbound by Dianne Duvall

Dianne Duvall bumps up the steam factor in her Immortal Guardians series with Night Unbound!

" I came to you because you were all I could think of while I was being tortured. "

I don't know about you, but I was looking forward to Zach's story since he first graced the pages several books back. Arrogant, enigmatic, and with a simple innocence about him when it came to any sort of human interaction... I couldn't help but be intrigued by his character. Labeled a traitor by the Immortal Guardians, and hunted by the Others, Zach's only salvation is the the french telepath, Lisette d'Alençon. She captivates him from first glance, and he is compelled to keep her protected from the dangers she faces nightly. But he know's that his attraction is a perilous thing, for him and Lisette both. Lisette is a rare female immortal, and despite her ability to kick-butt just as good as any male immortal, she is cherished and protected within the group. Which makes it that much worse for her when she knows that she is betraying them all with her growing feelings for the winged immortal. But she see's what no one else does in Zach, and she can't help but fall for him even more with every new element she learns, despite the risks to them both.

"I want to try something."

There were so many touching scenes here, from the heart-breaking to the joyful. Night Unbound ran the gauntlet of emotions. I absolutely adored Zach and Lisette. They're devoted, impassioned, and just plain adorable. I also loved their ability to bring out all of those hidden faucets in leader, Seth, that we have only caught glimpses of until now. As always, Dianne Duvall peppers the story-line with ingenious humor to keep it from becoming too dark mundane.

“I did not need to see that … I mean I really did not need to see that. Jenna, honey, grab one of my daggers and poke out both my eyes.”

Night Unbound made for an exceptional addition to the Immortal Guardians series. With a thrilling, fast-paced plot, edge-of-your-seat action and suspense, and ensnaring drama with a scorching romance I couldn't get enough of. The author's writing is flawless as she draws you right into the heart of the book with imaginative story-telling, vivid world-building, and unforgettable characters. If you haven't picked up this series yet, I implore you to pick up the first book, Darkness Dawns, now. You will not regret it!
