An imagination can be sparked with a bucket of chalk in "Chalk the Walk". "Faded pavement. Walls of gray. Boring city streets? No way!" Playing games, imagining, and exploring on the sidewalk is a great way to spend time outside. You can build a hopscotch with chalk. You can change the way you see almost anything with chalk. Imagination is the key. Chalk can be used to climb high and to learn how to fly. By playing pretend with chalk, you may even make new friends. A little chalk can brighten up even the darkest of grays. But chalk can also...

Thank you to NetGalley for letting me review this book. It's super cute. Reminds me of being small and coloring the sidewalk with chalk.
Recommend for all ages.
This book can inspire imagination and encourage a sense of community. Showing young children, they to, can also make a difference and put a smile on someone's face.

Chalk the Walk by Chelsea Tornetto is a perfect companion for summer 2025 library chalking programs. With unembellished, rhyming text, this story is easy to follow. Illustrations drive the story, showing how much color can change our environment. The characters in the story were diverse, including different ages, ethnic backgrounds, as well as community helpers such as the mail carrier. Our library plans to purchase this title as I find it is a resource to inspire our younger summer-reading participants to decorate the library property.

What child doesn't love chalk? Great picture book to go along with showing their creativeness, bringing together friends, but also understanding that some thing are temporary. Great discussion can be had about things being temporary and it shouldn't be a sad thing, but a chance to make it again! I think this would be a great read for ages 3-7. I will be adding this to my physical collection when this book becomes published.

Thank you to NetGalley and Familius for the advanced ready copy. This book is set to publish on Apr 1, 2025.

The world is a canvas and we are all the artists! What a lovely message to bring to children.

Chalk the Walk is about children who decorate their neighborhood with chalk and their imagination, brining color and life everywhere they go. It's such a great encouragement for children to continue to use their imaginations, even when things seem bland.

The illustrations in this are what makes it magical. The book has such a large contrast between the sidewalks, the chalk, and the characters in the story. I love how the adult interact with the children and their creations. It's such a warm environment and such a cozy book to settle into.

Thank you to the publisher and to NetGalley for the eARC! I loved the illusrations- especially when the book started off in black and white and as the characters draw with chalk more color is added. This book shows how creative you can be with chalk and how it can bring happiness to the people who walk by!

What do you do about boring sidewalks? Add some chalk, and let your imagination go wild! It is a fun rhyming lesson about how art inspires and delights everyone who experiences it and that your art is only limited by your imagination.

The rhymes and story would be perfect for library storytime. The illustrations make the book really come to life. I would definitely recommend this as a summer reading program, with plenty of chalk available afterwards for fun decorations.

Life Lesson & Artistic Encouragement

This book delivered a great message that life can be colored in with your creativity. This would make a great book for a classroom and to excite children about Art. I thought it delivered a great undertone about unplugging from electronics in addition to building a world you want instead of living in the gray.

I received a free copy of this book from Chelsea Tornetto and Familius. I am voluntarily leaving a review. All opinions are my own.

In a dreary gray town, kids add color and creativity to the pavement with some colorful chalk. Here, the adventure begins, and imaginations run wild. The kids draw hopscotch, trees, a butterfly, spacecraft, animals etc. This picture book is full of joy!

Starting on a drab, gray street a couple of city kids begin to transform their world with chalk. They invite their neighbours and passing kids into their games and imaginative play making an ordinary day into something extraordinary. The rhymes have a quick cadence making for a playful, engaging read and the expanding colours of the pages bring the story to life. I can’t wait to read this to my chalk-loving toddler!

Cute story about the power of imagination and where creativity can take you! Tells a great story about the importance of art and drawing for kids, and how something as simple as chalk can take you on great adventures! Also mentions the importance of keeping kids off screens, which I appreciated. Cute art style!

I loved this story about how chalk can be a wonderful source of creativity on imagination. The story starts grey, but as more ideas and chalk art is added trhe world become more colorful, I think that anology is a wonderful message for children. I love the illistrations in this book. The cover art is what initially grew me to it, and the inside illistrations continuted on just as wonderufl to make the story come to life. I loved the vivid colors and all the little added 'easter eggs' make it s fun read for little ones to point out things they find. I would ,most defeontly share this book with both my students and purchase a copy for my personal library.

Thank you NetGalley, Chelsea Tornetto & Familius for a eARC in exhcnage for my honest review.

This was a very sweet story of bringing color into our world. I loved the illustrations and story. I did feel like the end was somewhat abrupt/the transition wasn't quite clear but overall a great message and book!
