Five out of five stars from my six year old. A gray world turns colorful in this story full of chalk drawings. The rhyming was beautiful.

Me and my family loved this book! My kids found it inspiring, immediately after we went out to chalk our walkways and walls with colorful designs, sun, rainbows, flowers, monsters and more.

Super heartwarming and beautifully illustrated. The rhyming pattern is well done and reads well aloud.

Chelsea Tornetto tried to revive the art of forgotten days when children used to play in the streets with the new/broken pieces of chalk. Rhythmic style of writing and clear illustrations keeps the reader engaged throughout the reading. You can finish this book in one go with your child.

Author talks about different ways in which chalk can be useful for street play. I like the most where she talks about pretend play and calk can make you really strong. Starting from the grey walls and ending with the colours of rainbow, shows the creativity. Take out some time from machine life and allow your child to have chalk the walk!

What a charming book! I love the message about how art can transform the world, bringing joy and color and firing the imaginations. Even the temporary nature of the art only inspires future creativity. That's such a positive message for a child who finds it hard to let go or gets disheartened when her creation doesn't last or has a mistake. The illustrations are delightful. I can imagine reading this to a group of students and then taking them outside to do some sidewalk chalk art.

This children’s book was absolutely adorable! I have two young kiddos and they both told me they gave it a “13/10”. It promotes creativity, friendships, imagination, and perseverance. As we read along the pages, they loved the different scenes promoting imagination and creativity. I think this may be one of our new favorite nightly reads.

I loved the verses and the flow of the story. The grayed out world that comes to life with chalk was so fun. I didn't love the quick change to the chalk being washed away - it made the little one sad too. While I can appreciate that this is a reality of playing with chalk its abruptness was intense. i wished that, if including that, we could had also made mention of the fact that maybe the memories are still there? or the friends we made playing in the chalk were still our friends.

This book is a good source of inspiration for sparking creativity for sidewalk chalk designs. It encourages imagination and offers fresh ideas for reinventing everyday spaces. Perfect for reading before chalk activities or creative play with younger kids at school.

The illustrations are perfect. The idea of chalk bringing together kids (and adults). The rhymes. It's all perfectly executed. It even addresses making friends, imagination, and dealing with sadness when the chalk drawings wash away in the rain. I will absolutely read this with my 5-year-old, and may buy a copy for his kindergarten teacher for her classroom.

This is a great addition to any school, home, or community library. While there is no wide lesson to learn from, this title offers lessons in creativity. It tackles modern day concerns and the impermanence of chalk. It's a fun little picture book.

This was absolutely adorable! Great rhyming, message, illustrations, and vibrant colors. I read this with my 8 year old daughter and she loved it too. It made us both want to go outside and create with chalk!

I really enjoyed the illustrations of this book and the progression from gray to color. I also like that it gives ideas of what to color when playing with sidewalk chalk. I love the idea of reading this book alongside coloring outside on the sidewalk. I also thought this book gave a prompt to start a discussion with little ones about how some things are temporary.

The only drawback was the section where it said that chalk was better than screens. Although I appreciate what the author was trying to do there, I don't think screens should necessarily be painted as "bad" as I think they have a time and a place. Overall cute read for my littles.

Chalk the Walk is an adorable story about the power of creativity! The illustrations are colorful and whimsical. It is written in rhymes that would be easy for early readers to read on their own or with the help of an adult. I would recommend this book for preschool and early elementary aged kiddos!

Chalk the Walk is a vibrant, aptly colorful book about the magic of chalk art. With chalk, you can be or do anything you like — and even when it washes away, you can always create new and different art when things dry. A very cute book that will hopefully inspire littles to get outside and draw!

This book is exactly what children need to fuel their creativity when exploring chalk play. A piece of chalk is an outlet to limitless imaginative ideas for the artist. The best part about art is that it's temporary and leaves its canvas blank after a rain shower or a quick hose down. The illustrations are perfection and will grab the attention of any child who reads it. 10/10

This is a very sweet book that covers so many imaginative elements of art. When I think of chalk, I think of just making drawings - but this story book shows all the fun creative ways you can explore and make-believe with a simple stick of chalk.
I also love that it shows that it’s okay for chalk to wash away because it just means you get a new canvas to start again! I can’t wait to bring this book into my classroom!

The artwork is precious, rhymes are spot on and the transition from grey to color on the bags and with the language is really poetic.

Read this with my littles and we agreed that it was a delight.

I especially liked that it addressed the non permanence of chalk artwork, and how it’s alright to be sad when art is erased, but still look forward to trying again.

A child brings chalk out to the sidewalk in front of her building, and inspires people young and old to use their creativity and imagination.

This is a very sweet book that will inspire children to use their imaginations to create their own fun.
