I listened to this on audio and found it to be an easy listen. I had a hard time with the main character- it was hard to root for her because she wasn’t very likable. The narration was good, as was the pacing of the story. However, by the time we go to the end I was ready to be done. It dragged on for a bit longer than necessary.
Nobody’s Perfect is a cute women’s fiction that follows a romance plot, but instead of the two main characters being love interests, it follows the mother and the daughter, as they embark in the discovery of their bond.
I loved the dynamics of the main character’s relationships in correlation to her husband (soon to be ex), her sexy new neighbor, her friends, her son, and her mother. The exploration of her own self in this pivotal moment of her life was heartfelt and relatable.
I listened to the audiobook version of this story, which was performed by a single narrator who brought the main character to life. I listened at 1.5x speed (my normal audiobook speed is 1.75x but needed to slow this one down a bit).
Thank you NetGalley and Brilliance Publishing for this advanced listening copy.
Nobody's Perfect is the story of Vivian, a stay at home mom and lighthearted YouTuber with a page called MomScouts, who gets sideswiped by her husband when she discovers divorce papers in his sock drawer just after their son has left for college. The shock and surprise and anger about this situation plays out for Vivian with her close group of neighbor friends, a drunken video on her social media, a new widowed neighbor, and a reconciliation with her own mother. I enjoyed getting to know Vivian and her friends, both old and new, and liked how she dealt with her husband as a strong woman instead of a pushover, but my favorite was how she and her mother grew closer along the way as Vivian realized all of the things her mother had done for her along the way. I was not fond of the influencer portions, mainly because I felt that they pulled you away from the main story. Thank you to Brilliance and NetGalley for the early listen in exchange for my honest opinion.
After finding a DIY how to divorce your spouse kit in the bottom of her husband’s sock drawer, Vivian is about to embark on a new “adventure”. I absolutely adore the relationship she has with her mother, and the support that is given. Seems to be a very realistic story and I really enjoyed it. The narration was also great and fun to listen to.
Very enjoyable- quirky, well-written and laugh out loud funny in some spots, you won’t be disappointed!
This book was super cute and lots of fun! This is my first book by this author and I’ve definitely been wanting to try her work. Lots of good quirky humor. Vivian is a stay at home mom with a son going into college. Her and her husband were planning to move to Florida upon retirement. Unfortunately, she finds out her husband is having an affair. I thought the author did a great job with the emotional struggle that Vivian goes on throughout the book. This book was well written with great conflict and kept me listening until the end. I would definitely listen or read a book by this author again. I thought the narrator did a great job. Huge thanks to Brilliance audio and Netgalley for allowing me to listen and review this book!
After twenty-five years of marriage, Vivian's husband wants a divorce. Nobody's perfect is about finding yourself again when everything you thought you were falls apart. It's about trying something new and figuring things out. I think women in their forties will love this. The narrator was fantastic and it was a fast read. I really enjoyed Vivian's foray into YouTube. Sometimes author's are very awkward when handling these types of stories but it was done very well!
Thank you to NetGalley for an early review copy.
This was a fun, light hearted listen for me. As a woman with my youngest at college and of a similar age as the main character, I found it very relatable. The narration is perfect and it is a great one to listen to while doing other things. The book gave me Class Mom (by Laurie Gelman) vibes. I recommend to any mom looking for something easy and fun.
Thank you to NetGalley for the audio arc in exchange for my honest review.
I listened to the audiobook and the narrator was perfect for the emotions and humor of the book. It was so funny, lots of secondhand embarrassment and the author’s writing is very realistic! I loved the main character’s growth throughout and I would love to read a sequel with these characters. Highly recommend!
Vivian Quackenbush is a stay-at-home mom to her son who is newly in college. While she thinks she is getting ready for a life of being an empty nester, she comes across divorce papers from her husband, Mitch. Her world is turned upside down. She has a YouTube site called Mom Scout where she posts tips for fellow moms. Vivian drunkenly posts a video that goes viral. All of a sudden, she is receiving opportunities to be an influencer for certain products. She is going through all of this alongside her two best friends. I never connected with Vivian’s character and was honestly annoyed with her at times. She seemed much younger than her actual age. I wish the friendship between the three of them was more robust and more connected. Lots of mistakes were made and most of them I felt were avoidable. This was a story about Vivian trying to find herself after divorce. I do love the Mom Scout’s idea; my son is in Cub Scouts and earns badges – why can’t I too? The ending felt lackluster and predictable.

All of us become a little self centered as we go through trials in our lives. This is no different for Vivian, the main character of the book. A long time married, she finds papers in her Husband's sock drawer. He wants a divorce. And now her life is thrown on a whole new path.
Many thanks to Net Galley and Brilliance Publishing for an audio ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.
This was such a sweet second chance novel. The story focuses on Vivian who is recently divorced and pretty much has to learn to how start over. Her husband is such a frustrating man who seems like he just wants to take everything from her and make her life as miserable as possible.
Patrick, her next door neighbor, is such a breathe of fresh air. Everyone deserves a partner who puts effort into a relationship and shows that they care about you. Vivian hasn't dated since college and has been married for over half of her life, so starting all over is no easy feat.
My favorite part was her re bonding with her mother. They didn't have the worst relationship per say, but by the end they were far closer than they've ever been. I think that Vivian learned so much about herself and became more selfless and cared more about other people's feelings rather than just her own.
Thank you to Netgalley, Brilliance Publishing, and Sally Kilpatrick for an ARC of this audiobook. This review is my own honest opinon.
This was such a fun read! I was immediately drawn to the cover and enjoyed discovering the significance as I read the book. It dealt with some serious topics but the tone was light which made it very entertaining. Vivian’s sarcasm, ability to poke fun at herself and hot flashes made her relatable and the kind of character I would like to be friends with! I was cheering her on during her journey of self discovery after years of identifying primarily as a wife and mother. This book touched my heart and also made me laugh out loud multiple times which I loved. The narrator’s southern accent was perfect for Vivian and was the icing on the cake.
Thank you to NetGalley, Brilliance Publishing & Sally Kilpatrick for the chance to read this book in exchange for my honest review.
This was a really entertaining story. I appreciated the evolution of the FMC's relationship with her mother and felt for her as she navigated her new life.
My only hang up was the age of the FMC: The FMC was stated to be 44 but with the narrator's voice AND the language, actions and thought processes as written- I feel like she was better suited at around 54. This is simply my opinion as a fellow woman in my 40s.
The narrator spoke very clearly and did a really good job.
