I love a police procedural! I really enjoyed the detective. She was flawed and had her own traumas which made it all the more interesting. I enjoyed the case as well. The narration was well done and I enjoyed her voices too. Good read.

This is the third installment of the Detective Harriet Foster series. Even though it’s part of a series, it can be read as a standalone. This Chicago-based murder mystery is gritty, realistic, and heart-racing. The plot is absorbing and thought-provoking full of twists that will keep you guessing. The narration masterfully brings the story to life adding intensity and suspense. Thank you, NetGalley and Brilliance Audio for my audiobook.

Echo is the 3rd book in the Detective Harriett Foster series.
Talk about a wow-factor read.
My attention and interest in this series was captured with books one and two, Hide and Fall. Let’s just say book three, Echo is next level.
Tracy Clark does not disappoint. I was totally invested from the beginning to the end. It is a roller coaster ride of twists and turns that you do not see coming.
Echo is edge-of- your-seat goodness that is totally book hangover-worthy.
Double bonus for the audiobook. The narration was top-notch.

Originality :⭐️⭐️⭐️ few concepts and facts in the story were somewhat my first time knowing them, but in general the plot seemed a bit usual kind.
Plot :⭐️⭐️⭐️ the plot is good, and also the story, but the mystery element was not that top-notch
Overall :⭐️⭐️⭐️in the end I did enjoy the story, but I would not be so sure if I’m picking up the next instalment. But I would let time decide.

DNF - Unfortunately I just couldn’t get into this one to the point I didn’t really know what was going on.

This was a pretty standard story about a police woman who has suffered a family tragedy and finds herself mixed up in an unusual case, involving the death of a young man from a very rich family, that unexpectedly mirrors the death of a student at a nearby college that took place decades ago.
Some parts of the story were interesting, particularly the relationships between the various police officers. But one problem with the book was that it lacked suspense. From the beginning, it was fairly clear who did what and why.
With a little more mystery infused into the story telling, this would have been a much more interesting book. Despite that, it was an easy read, and the narrator did a good job. And Harry is an excellent protagonist.

Thank you to Kaye Publicity and Amazon Publishing for the advanced copy to review.
Echo by Tracy Clark is the third and final book in this series, and I have enjoyed all three. Detective Harriet Foster is flawed, which comes through in her work while trying to solve her cases. This time a college student is found dead in a field near Hardwicke House, home to the exclusive Minotaur Society, and said student happens to be the son of a billionaire. His death ‘echoes’ an unsolved case from 30 years prior, and off we go. As with the other two books, this grabs you from the start and keeps your attention all the way through, I read this in two sittings only because I had to sleep in between lol. The audio was excellent also, I listened and followed along with the physical copy and enjoyed it that way. I loved this book and the series overall and definitely recommend it.

The Detective Harriet Foster series is set in Chicago. Harri who has been on the force 17 years is adjusting to her new partner and team. She still struggles with the recent death of her partner, and her son five years ago. She has been getting phone calls from a man taunting her about them.
Harri and her new partner Vera Li, get a case where a billionaire donor's son has died at a mansion near the college campus. It becomes clear the incident is similar to one 30 years ago when the billionaire himself was there at the college. Harri and her team have a difficult time interviewing witnesses or suspects as many are wealthy and do what they can to avoid them. Eventually, information is collected and evidence to help them. But more bodies pile up first.
The taunts continue and finally based on the clues in the threats, Harri has a discussion with her mother. She learns about some things in her father's law enforcement career. The new information assists in narrowing down the suspects. Even after she is certain of the culprit, she has to follow the rules and evidence to stop him.
I found this a very satisfying conclusion to the series, although I would happily read more. It seemed very realistic that some evidence was hard to obtain or that it wasn't enough. The team had to keep working and also protect those being threatened. It was heartwarming to see Harri moving forward with her life as these cases were solved.
Narration:
This series was my introduction to this narrator. I really enjoyed her performance and felt the distinct voices were comfortable and appropriate for the characters. I was able to listen at my usual 1.5x speed.

📖 Book Review: Echo by Tracy Clark 📖
Thank you to Thomas Mercer for granting me access to the ebook and Brilliance Publishing for the audiobook via NetGalley! Tracy Clark has absolutely outdone herself with Echo, a gripping mystery set against the chilling backdrop of Hardwicke House and Belverton College. This story had me hooked from the first page to its brilliantly unresolved ending. I’m already counting down the days until Clark’s next book!
Detective Harriet “Harri” Foster is a force to be reckoned with, bringing determination and grit to a complex case filled with privilege, secrets, and tragedy. The dual threads of past and present crimes surrounding the elite Minotaur Society kept me guessing at every turn, while Harri’s personal struggles added depth to her character.
The narration brought the tension and atmosphere to life in a way that made me feel like I was right there in the eerie halls of Hardwicke. The exploration of wealth, power, and justice was thought-provoking, and I loved how the unresolved ending left room for speculation and a craving for more.
If you’re into mysteries with strong female detectives, morally complex characters, and edge-of-your-seat suspense, Echo is an absolute must-read.

I tried to listen to the audiobook and it just didn't work for me I couldn't get into it. I was bored and had to stop listening, as it was not holding my attention at all.

I was really involved in this crime series from start to finish. Even though I hadn’t read the previous detective books, it didn’t take long for me to get hooked. The story kept me engaged with its intricate plot and constant suspense.
The pacing was perfect, and each twist in the case pulled me deeper into the investigation. I found myself eager to see how the detective would piece everything together. The characters were complex and well-written, especially the lead detective, whose sharp instincts made every clue feel crucial.
Even though I missed some of the earlier context, this book was still a fantastic read. I’m now eager to dive into the previous books in the series. If you enjoy crime thrillers with great depth and unexpected turns, this one is definitely worth checking out.
