I read and enjoyed this book. However as I started to write my review I was horrified to realise that the updated 2024 cover by Wicked Smart Designs (and used on Amazon) uses AI, which I can't morally support or promote. This is a lesson learned for me as well. In future I will ensure I am more careful when requesting books to review. Happy to discuss further.

Briar the sister of a duke becomes infatuated by her gardener/sister’s brother in law, Wren/Robert. She finds him interesting and deems him the person to help her with a situation at hand. Her neighbor Percy, who wants to marry her but also got one of the village girls pregnant. As they get closer sparks appear by both try to ignore it. Until one day all three of them get kidnapped by a group of highlanders and are taken back to Wren’s clan in Scotland. Along the way friendships and marriages occur and family secrets come crashing right out of the closet along with all the skeleton bones.
I will say that Percy became on of my favorites towards the end but will not spoil much!

I loved Briar and Wren (can't resist a Scottish brogue!). A fun adventure..

I really enjoyed this well-written, grumpy-sunshine, road trip romance, brimming with LOL moments, tear-jerking drama, twists, intrigue and deceit, action, suspense, danger and spicy love scenes. The protagonists are endearing and complete opposites. Wren is a jaded grump, yet with a big heart who prefers to be left alone, and Briar is a naive, good-natured, feisty and talkative heroine who can't stay away from him. The chemistry between the two is great and fun to read, and it was nice to see Wren gradually succumb to her charms.
It's not necessary to read the first book, but I still recommend it.

I really enjoyed this book! I'm not usually fond of stories with Scottish characters because I have to look up so many words, but that was not the case with this one. It really was a rollercoaster ride with twists and turns, characters grow through the story and I might read more books by Fenna Edgewood.

A marriage of convenience, mercenaries, al fresco nights, megrims and mermaid moments. And when they finally make it to the castle, there’s his devious cousin, clan envy and long-ago betrayal. The green-eyed monster is ready to dine, and it ain’t pretty.

Briar and Wren’s slow burn romance is marvellous! At first he’s the lesser of two evils, but she really can’t deny he’s one delectable giant - especially once the kilt comes on, or was it off? And he - this gentle caring but brutal warrior - is so smitten by his forbidden English rose... not that he’ll fall in love again. Never. Ever!
Percy’s redemption arc is a thing of beauty! A little sad, but also heartwarming.
I loved the colour and folklore in this story, the brogue, the loyalty and the sizzling steam!
Action-packed, entertaining, witty and swoony romantic, this was an utterly enthralling read!

Lady Blair Weds the Scot is such a fun read. Blair is an awesome lead character. I love historical books set in Scotland. You won't be disappointed in this book.

This is the second book of the Blakeley Manor Series by Fenna Edgewood and you're in for a treat. In this story we find Wren who is the gardener at Lady Briar’s manor home. After being kidnapped together they depend on each other to escape the Highlands. Things change quickly when the future and fear of scandal mix and the two must wed. What they don’t expect is the chemistry between them. I don’t want to give it away, you will want to read this and discover it all for yourself.
This story is why I love Edgewoods writing. It is packed with action, intrigue and amazing passion. The characters are so full of life with great detail, as well as the rest of the story. You will feel like you are a part of this story too.
You will love this adventure and every moment that Edgewood creates in this masterful story.

Lady Briar Weds the Scot is an enjoyable romp that interweaves modern ideas about women's rights and feminism with a traditional Regency setting. Not entirely authentic but certainly entertaining!

Briar and Wren are great together, and the cast of secondary characters are engaging, I wish some of their stories didn't end so abruptly and would be keen to read more. There's some spice and although Briar, who is about 19 or 20 years old, is a virgin as would be expected, she is quite bold which ensures Wren is kept on his toes! I was delighted to see that while there is plenty of potential for other woman drama Briar is mature enough that this doesn't occur.

Book 2 did deliver over book 1. Wren and Briar are quite the pair and their proximity during their kidnapping led to opportunities for them to get together and fall in ❤️. Overall a fast paced read.

I did enjoy this one more than the first but they are both freaking fantastic and I will be reading every historical romance or whatever from now on.

Author Fenna Edgewood brings readers a Regency romance. This is a light, fast read. Our main characters are Briar Blakeley and Wren Spencer. Briar is a beautiful young woman approximately 22 years old. Her sister was involved in a bad marriage, leaving Briar with no desire to marry. Her brother Dart, the Duke, has offered to present her for a season but she isn’t interested. Wren Spencer fought in the war against the French but refused to returned Renfrew Castle because of to a family dispute. He takes a position as gardener for the Blakeley family. He enjoys working in the gardens, especially the herb garden. Percy is a childhood friend that has gone astray; he is a heavy drinker, a womanizer and in need of money. He has always assumed he and Briar would marry and is angry over her rejection.
Percy, Briar and Wren are kidnapped by a group of Scots that intend to drag Wren home whether he wants to return or not. Briar’s reputation is in jeopardy from traveling with the men without a female chaperone. Both Wren and Percy ask her to marry them. She turns to Wren and accepts his proposal. Briar has already fallen in love with the Scott. Wren tries to convince himself he is doing the noble thing, but he is deeply in love with her. Not everyone is glad to see Wren return.
I have mixed feelings concerning this cheesy tale. I didn’t dislike it. I actually enjoyed most of it, but it needs work. The speech was often off. It was written with too much contemporary thinking. Dart allowed his sister to make decisions for herself, allowed another sister to marry a stable hand. These things would never happen during that era. Then there is Wren. When he first met Briar, he was rude, prickly, annoyed and hasty to get away from her. He worked for her! There was no way a servant could talk to a mistress in such a manner. This tale has a lot of potential but still needs work.

An enjoyable romance. Both Briar and Wren are kidnapped and taken to Scotland, during the journey they form a strong bond. They have to overcome a threat to their lives. Percy who starts as a baddie redeems himself and I enjoyed his role in the progression of the story, I wanted a different ending for him. Esme who is wronged by all the men deserves a story of her own, I was left more interested in what happened to her than in the actual ending.

This is the first book I have read from this author and plan on reading more. Lady Briar is kidnapped with her Scottish gardener/secretly a laird. They marry on the forced trip back to Scotland and discover love, overcome a treacherous cousin to live happily ever after.

The way these authors write Scotsman....makes me need to track one down for myself lol.. I am really loving these historic romances, and I jumped on this ARC. This book was perfect, I could not ask for more when it comes to this genre. It was spicy, the MMC was *chefs kiss*, the plot was addicting. Highly recommend :)

This was a truly unique and entertaining love story. It was fast-paced with many plot twists, including class differences, action, drama, adventure, suspense, and other emotional issues that kept me engaged. The characters were confident, complex, and strong-willed. I enjoyed the delicious spicy passion and the sweet romance. I highly recommend reading!

I first stumbled across this book while I was dealing with the post-covid brain fog looking for light reads in KU. I had a excellent time then, so when I saw this was being republished I thought I'd give it another go. I am happy to report this book is great fun both with and without a brain fog!

Without spoilering too much: Lady Briar and the family gardener get abducted on the way to visit a tenant family. As is the case in any decent romance novel, they fall in love along the way. If you're looking for anything resembling realism or historical accuracy, keep looking. If a wildly dramatic and entertaining historical romance is what you want, this is the one. There's kidnapping, villains, murder, unexpected inheritances, Scottish highlander and witty banter. It's not perfect, but it's really fun and I am here for it!
