An easy read but not a very original concept. Many books around using the family with secrets theme.

Sabrina has finally found her dream job as a private librarian, but she soon begins to suspect that there is a lot going on in the mansion and she is determined to uncover the secrets hidden by the people who live there.
A novel with a plot that increases in intensity as we delve deeper into the lives of the Dorseys and those around them.
The characters are very well characterised and make you suspect them and at the same time empathise with some of their dilemmas.
Of course there is no shortage of unexpected and unsuspected twists and turns and I have to say there are several that blew me away.
Undoubtedly, a recommended reading for those who want to stay hooked to a good psychological thriller.

This was a really great psychological thriller that came at the perfect time from NetGalley to get me out of my reading slump. I love a good book that's both easy to read but also keeps you wanting to read more to get to the bottom of what's going on. This book draws you in from the beginning when the lead character Sabrina gets employed to restore a handsome rich man's private beautiful library. I mean isn't this all of our dreams?? The lead character shares a love for books that I know all us avid readers do. I struggled a little with the narrative at points where I found the conversations to be unnatural, but I was still invested in the story. The end was filled with twists and turns that I did NOT see coming at all. I love when you get to the last 20%ish when it all starts coming together and you cannot read it fast enough.

The Family Lies keeps you guessing until the end. I was not anticipating so many of the characters having their own plot twists and loved how the stories were all intertwined somehow. If you love thrillers that keep you guessing, this one is it! There is no way Sabrina could have guessed all that was awaiting her when she accepted a new job. Just when you think you have it all figured out, the author throws you for a loop!

I really enjoyed this book it has everything you wish for twists and turns. I enjoyed the storylines. This is a phycological thriller and I really enjoyed Belle. An intriguing thriller which is full of suspense with plenty of twists and turns A stirring and unusual tale of love, lies and murder. A thrilling adventure that I highly recommend to those who love fast-paced, action-packed novel. This book is a gripping blend of mystery and family drama that keeps you hooked from start to finish. The twists are clever, and the secrets unravel at a perfect pace, with well-developed characters driving the emotional stakes. While some plot points may feel slightly predictable for seasoned mystery readers, the strong writing and engaging narrative make it a standout. A compelling read for fans of domestic thrillers with a touch of heart.

ARC copy courtesy of NetGalley. Sort of slow up until 60%. After that, it sped up. However, it had me confused about the last 10%. I had to reread the parts to fully understand the twist. It has a couple twists that I wouldn't have guessed. It was a good storyline. It kept a lot of secrets hidden until the end, which is good for you to not guess the one twist. Giving it 3 ⭐️ due to the good storyline, but with some confusion near the end.

This is the first book that I have read by this author, but it will definitely not be the last!

As soon as I read the premise of this book, I just knew it would suck me in, and it did not disappoint. I did not put it down until the very end.

Sabrina Adams is a struggling librarian who recently lost her job at the local library and is now working in a bookshop. Now loving back in her late mothers home with her older sister and brother in law, she is desperate to leave.

Every week in the bookshop, they are visited by a handsome man, one who seems to like Sabrina. On one such visit, he leaves his wallet behind, and so when at the end of a shift he appears and then invites Sabrina for coffee, she has no hesitation on accepting.

The man in question is the local CEO of Dorsey Snacks, Theo Dorsey. The Dorsey family is surrounded by scandal and rumours, including the unexplained death of a woman outside the Dorsey mansion.

Sabrina's 'date' isn't what it seemed, Theo actually wants her to become the family librarian, working in his late mother's private library,

Accepting the job, she arrives at the mansion to not only be met by the housekeeper Mrs Manning but also with her extensive list of rules that must be abided by. Sabrina, from the very beginning, feels there is something 'off' with the family, but stays put and tries to work through it.

Sabrina starts digging into the controversy surrounding the family, but is she digging too deep?

This is a tale full of secrets and lies, twists, turns, and an ending I wasn't expecting.

The characters are well padded out and executed brilliantly. I loved Angela Henry's writing style. It flowed perfectly and was wrapped up perfectly at the end.

It was a slow but enjoyable burn to about the halfway mark and then the tale just became twisted! I think I stuck it out because I couldn't believe the number of twists the Angela Henry through at her readers! Some of which required further development as the way they are presented seem just a little too far fetched for a psychological thriller. I think the author has a great deal of potential and is obviously not shore of ideas! Perhaps a better editor to limit some of the twists so the reader doesn't conclude reading the book feeling disappointed with the ending is needed. I think I'd read another book by this author ?? Not sure I'd recommend this one to many....

Let me begin by saying that this was such a good thriller! I couldn’t put it down, reading day and night, desperate to figure out what was going on in that damn house. It felt like the darkest, most twisted soap opera imaginable, in the best possible way!

Sabrina Adams: librarian, recently fired, living with her sister in their late mother’s house, and stuck in a low-paying, part-time job. You get the picture. So when Theo, the town’s most eligible bachelor, offers her a gig organizing his private library, she doesn’t exactly have a good reason to say no. It feels like Prince Charming has finally arrived to scoop Cinderella up and take her to his castle. For me, it was oddly satisfying watching everything unravel, piece by piece, as soon as she crossed that threshold.

The author nails the balance between a slow burn and a total page-turner, dropping hints along the way that lead to some absolutely wild twists by the end. The story is packed with tension pretty much the whole way through, but it’s the last third that really had me in a chokehold. This is one of those books that makes you stop mid-read, stare into space like, mouth wide open, before diving back in.

It’s hard to explain just how unhinged everyone seemed at one point or another without spoiling the plot, but let me just say this: trust no one! I kept bouncing from one character to the next, convinced the housekeeper was shady, then Theo, and don’t even get me started on the side characters. Everyone has a motive, and some of them have actually done something terrible. Sabrina is stuck in this house trying to piece everything together whilst keeping her intentions hidden and being a gold-star employee.

In conclusion, The Family Lies was a wild and twisty read. The constant questions about what was really happening in that house, and what everyone was hiding, kept me hooked from start to finish. Each new clue had me second-guessing everything, and the suspense was perfectly crafted to keep me reading late into the night. I would recommend it to anyone who loves a story packed with secrets, tension, and jaw-dropping surprises. If you’re on the hunt for your next addictive thriller, this is it!

The Family Lies is a thriller following Sabrina as she begins working for the very rich and infamous, Dorsey Family. As she works there, she discovers all the weird things that have happened involving the Dorsey family. Including deaths and disappearances. If Sabrina isn’t careful, could she be next?

I really enjoyed this. It gave me some of the some of the same feelings I got as I read ‘The Housemaid’ by Freida McFadden. It was a slow build up until around the 70% mark, where everything started coming out. It was pretty addictive. I just wished the ending was a little more elongated and really hit the twists (if that makes sense) otherwise it was so good. If you like books where someone is finding out the mysterious secrets of a rich family with a suspicious past, with many twists and turns, think you’ll enjoy ‘The Family Lies’ by Angela Henry

3 stars. Sabrina, the MFC, takes a job restoring the books and library of a wealthy family. The housekeeper is odd. She has lots of rules to pass on to Sabrina, as Sabrina is not only working there, but living there for 2 years. This is a very very slow burn. The kind of book where we get little dribbles of info as the book goes along. I admit, I was totally uninterested by the 40 percent mark. I didn't take to Sabrina's character at all. The book was not what I was expecting and just fell flat for me. I will say, it was well written and easy to read. It had multiple POVs that did get confusing as the story went on. I will still recommend this book as it is just my personal preference to not do well with these slow burn books.

We spend a large part of this book uncovering all the secrets of the various members of the Dorsey family, and those close to them. Each one helps to paint a more accurate picture of the truth of what happened to two women who have both died with connections to the Dorsey family estate. Add in another couple of potentially missing people, and it all looks quite suspicious. All eventually becomes clear, and the guilty parties are revealed.

This book started well. I really enjoyed it for the most part, though I did rather get The Housemaid vibes as the premise was similar. However, I did feel that it got a bit lost and confused in the last part, and it all became a little far fetched

Jaw dropping and absolutely amazing! A must read for 2025.
This book is so easy to get hooked onto, especially when you refuse to sleep until you know more!
There was a lot of twists and turns I certainly did not expect. I recommend this to all thriller fans!

I LOVED this book! It was a bit slow in the beginning but then boom I was hooked!! I finished it in one sitting! My first by this author but will not be my last!!

Who wouldn't want access to the spectacular library of the Dorsey family and who wouldn't be slightly alarmed by the very odd and strict house rules?!
Lots of twists and red herrings along the way, a host of creepy characters, untrustworthy retainers and skeletons in the closet and a thoroughly pleasing outcome!

Sabrina Adams gets a job as a private librarian at Theo Dorsey's home, where she learns some, let's say, interesting facts about the Dorsey family.

I absolutely devoured this book. When I had to stop reading, all I could think about was getting back into the story and the world that Sabrina had been thrust into with her new job. I've recently been getting into psychological thrillers, and I must say that Angela Henry's book exceeded my expectations. I was shocked by the twist, and the characters were well-developed. I highly recommend this book to anyone who's read Freida McFadden or just wants to dive into the genre of psychological thrillers!

Wow what can I say. I .ove a book with twists and turn. This book had some and so much more. The ending was a surprise for sure.
The Dorsey family a wealthy family who carries some hidden lies and family secrets. Theo Dorsey heir apparent who was the last to see a woman who was found murdered. Could he also be connected to the death of another young girl? Then there is Mrs. Manning the housekeeper or is she something more. Many lies have been told about this family. Or are they.
EnterSabrina Adam’s who is so looking forward to working for Theo Dorsey. Sabrina lost her library job and has only bee working part time at a bookstore. Living with her sister and dirtbag brother-in-law doesn’t help. So getting this job was saving her or was it. Strange things were happening once Sabrina started working there. People were warning her to be careful of that family. The money she was being paid to restore their library was too good to turn down. Maybe she is being punished for lying about her credentials. One thing is certain Sabrina was going to look into all these mysterious murders that are happening. Is Theo Dorsey involved? Is her life in danger?
I could not put this book down. I needed to finish and have my questions answered. Boy was I surprised with the last few chapters. Blew me away. Not what I was expecting at all. I did have to reread certain parts a few times for character clarification. Other than that I’d lived it.
