Wow what can I say. I .ove a book with twists and turn. This book had some and so much more. The ending was a surprise for sure.
The Dorsey family a wealthy family who carries some hidden lies and family secrets. Theo Dorsey heir apparent who was the last to see a woman who was found murdered. Could he also be connected to the death of another young girl? Then there is Mrs. Manning the housekeeper or is she something more. Many lies have been told about this family. Or are they.
EnterSabrina Adam’s who is so looking forward to working for Theo Dorsey. Sabrina lost her library job and has only bee working part time at a bookstore. Living with her sister and dirtbag brother-in-law doesn’t help. So getting this job was saving her or was it. Strange things were happening once Sabrina started working there. People were warning her to be careful of that family. The money she was being paid to restore their library was too good to turn down. Maybe she is being punished for lying about her credentials. One thing is certain Sabrina was going to look into all these mysterious murders that are happening. Is Theo Dorsey involved? Is her life in danger?
I could not put this book down. I needed to finish and have my questions answered. Boy was I surprised with the last few chapters. Blew me away. Not what I was expecting at all. I did have to reread certain parts a few times for character clarification. Other than that I’d lived it.
Thank you NetGalley and Storm Publishing for the ARC. Thank you Angela Henry for a great book. I look forward to more from you. 4.5
Sabrina Adams finds herself a new job just when she was down on her luck. She is employed to work in the library of the wealthy Dorsey family for 2 years which is a live in position. As soon as she enters the Dorsey family’s home she feels uneasy. There’s secrets and lies uncovered round every corner. This book had me hooked! Very well written and executed. The characters and plot are well described, it’s easy to follow and keeps you guessing. The ending felt a little rushed but kept me intrigued as the story revealed the secrets that everyone had been keeping. It was thrilling, scary, disturbing but most of all enjoyable to read. The secrets revealed make you question everything you’ve read so far. A great book that I’d highly recommend for any thriller or murder mystery fan.
This was hard to put down.
One of those books you can't wait to get back to you while you're out.
When Sabrina finds out she will soon be unemployed, the local Bookstore no longer needs her, she is thankful for the offer a regular customer offers her. It almost sounds too good to be true. Work and love in an estate and help restore a private library (for those that feel it was unrealistic for her to take this job, please note that I would leave my Director level position for a national company in less than 3 seconds for an offer like that- so it must be a booknerd thing)
Anyway- early on the creepy vibe starts, and this thriller will keep you on your toes. I did not see the outcome, and I love when a book tricks me like that! My first by Angela Henry- definitely will not be my last! It is set for release in January 2025 so keep your eyes peeled!
Thank you to NetGalley and Storm Publishing for the chance to read and review this one!
What a riviting read this was..
Sabrina is hired to restore the Dorseys library. The mansion is beautiful but Sabrina feels an unease and tension in the household.. There are many rules, locked doors and secrets..
I loved this book.. It is twisty and there are a few clues along the way as to what is going on.
I loved how the story unfolded and though Angela Henry a brilliant storyteller. She is a marvel at making the reader feel the unease alongside the characters and with the drama and intrigue, this book is a wonderful way to lose an day reading..
Crackling!!!!
I absolutely enjoyed every second of this book. Sabrina a librarian gets a job at a mansion where the Dorseys want her to restore their library. Once she begins working there, Sabrina starts noticing weird things happening there. Most people she encounters warns her off the family.
Sabrina starts going deeper into the controversies surrounding Theo. As a reader, you do question why the author mentions trivial things but they all do tie up in the end. The final reveal was so intriguing which left me with mixed feelings about the characters.
Compliments to the author for mixing a laid back story with such a neurotic twist to the end.
I give this book 5 stars. Go ahead and read this crazy book.
I thank NetGalley and Storm Publishing for the E-Arc and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

when I was browsing through NetGalley, and I came across this Arc I rushed to request it! and when I requested it I was excited to get into it! as soon as the prologue opened I knew that I would be immediately hooked! I gave this 3 stars because the chapters were quite long and it did get a bit confusing with other pov’s but otherwise that it was a great and enjoyable read!
this books follows the main character who is financially struggling after being ‘sacked’ from her job as they were short-cut on money to fund the wages. But then she receives her dream job and gets to be a home librarian for 2 years within a contract. Apart of the contract is that she has to stay at the families house that she works for but she soon realises this family isn’t what she thought they were.
So first of all this gave me, ‘The Housemaid’ vibes by Frieda McFadden, with the advertising of a job and staying in the families home. this book was a quick and easy read and easily gets you out of a slump. I will definitely be buying a physical copy and re-reading when it is officially released!
☆ Publish Date: 22nd January 2025.
☆ thank you to NetGalley, the author and the publisher for gifting and allowing me to read an e-arc of this book in exchange for an honest rating and review.
Sabrina Adams thought her luck had finally turned around when she was hired to restore the private library of the wealthy Dorsey family. But as soon as she arrives at their elegant estate, she senses something is off. Rooms are locked without explanation. And why does the housekeeper, Mrs Manning, insist on so many rules?! Good book! This book had suspense, intrigue, murder, mystery, a sort of who done it and some really crazy twists and turns!! The story was interesting! I definitely recommend reading this book! Thank you NetGalley and the publisher for sharing this book with me!
This book sounded SO interesting to me when I ran across it! I was excited when I got approved to read the arc! I have never read anything from this author before, but I love the writing style and I loved the story!! The Mc gets my dream job, and gets to go be an in home librarian! Stuff starts happening and she realizes things aren't exactly what she bargained for! This book moves at a great pace and the ending wrapped everything up neatly! I would 100% reccomend this book to my friends and family. Thanks for the opportunity!!!
Another good thriller from Angela Henry! The first 75% or so of this book was great and I could not stop reading. The last 25% wasn't as much fun for me but I still enjoyed this one. Some of the story was a bit far fetched but overall this was a fun time. Sabrina definitely had more conviction than me because I would not have stayed in a house of someone I barely knew especially after hearing all of the "house rules". This book definitely has it's fair share of secrets and Sabrina has some of her own.
Thank you NetGalley and Storm Publishing for access to the ARC in exchange for an honest review.
The premise of this book sounds so good, but the execution didn't quite live up to what I wanted it to be. I found myself rather uninterested at most parts and I really couldn't get behind the main character (I don't know why, but she just wasn't that interesting to me).
This book follows Sabrina as she is hired to work at a wealthy family's library, but things get weird. There are lots of strange rules around the house and suspicious people about. And past mysteries and secrets resurface.
This was one of those books where the beginning is really slow and you don't see where it's going or what it's doing, but then all this information and action begins and starts just piling up at the very end. I know a lot of people love that in a mystery/thriller, but I don't really tend to like that. I prefer to always be on the edge of my seat and focused because the story and characters have just captivated me THAT much.
Thanks to NetGalley for the e-ARC of this book in exchange for my honest review! My Goodreads review is up and my TikTok (Zoe_Lipman) review will be up at the end of the month with my monthly reading wrap-up.
“Liars lie to everyone, including themselves”
Sabrina lies to get librarian job working for the tall, dark and handsome Theo Dorsey.
Detective Jared Green tries to warn Sabrina that the wealthy business owner is connected to multiple female murders but the young woman gets herself involved with the family anyway.
But she starts finding suspicious items and accidents start happening. Is she in too deep?
Angela Henry has become a firm favourite for me. I love her twisty and easy to read thrillers. This was no exception. Well written, fast paced and a punchy ending.
“We’re all capable of murder under the right circumstances”
Many thanks to NetGalley and Storm Publishing for my advanced copy.
Rating: 4.5/5 stars
Angela Henry has done it again! The Family Lies was a gripping thriller that made me questioning every single character wondering who was the villain. There were plot twists coming from the beginning of the book and the buildup to the end was incredible. Once I got to about 70% of the way through I literally could not put it down and stayed up way too late to finish it! The characters were amazing, the multiple little storylines that all wove together really kept you intrigued, and the multiple POV chapters every once in a while were a great way to breakup the book. I loved Angela Henry's other book The Perfect Affair, and couldn't wait to read this one and it did not disappoint!
This book follows Sabrina Adams who gets an amazing opportunity to work as a live in librarian to take care of a private library
Hired by the towns wealthy Dorsey family
She quickly realises something is off and sets off to try and figure out what isn't quite right about this family
With lots of characters to follow make sure you pay attention to all the little details of the book
Nothing is ever as it seems as Sabrina could be in danger she needs to make sure she isn't next
Who can she trust ?
But one thing is for sure you will not see it coming with the multiple twists towards the end of this book
This was a great read and I look forward to reading more
Thought the book was well written and will be on the look out for more books by this author
This was a roller coaster of a ride. Just when you thought you knew what was happening, a new twist would happen. Things are not always what they seem. It is hard to work out who is telling the truth, and also, since the different POV S aren’t dated, you assume that they are all the same time frame. This is the sort of book that you want to go back and read again, knowing what you know now. It certainly kept my attention, even if the denouement was a little bizarre. Thanks to NetGalley and Storm Publishing for a chance to read and review this book.
Gripping, haunting and fast-paced, this thriller will keep you on the edge of your seat. It starts off a little slow, but when it picks up speed, it will keep you guessing until the very end.
When Sabrina was offered a job by the richest family in town, she was down on her luck and didn’t hesitate to accept the job offer of librarian in the family’s large estate. But she knew instantly that things weren’t right. The house rules were very strange and the family dynamics even stranger.
If you like twisty tales that keep you engaged until the end, pick this one up. You won’t regret it. Thank you, NetGalley and Storm Publishing for the advanced reader copy.
Thanks to NetGalley and Storm Publishing for this Advanced Reader’s Copy of The Family Lies by Angela Henry due to be published January 22, 2025.

Wow – this one was a wild ride – I read it in one day! The characters were wonderfully developed and very complicated to say the least. Just when I thought I had it all figured out, I found out I didn’t, and the ending was a complete shock. Definitely a great read!

Sabrina Adams is hired by wealthy Theo Dorsey to work in the family's extensive library. On her arrival she's met by the stern housekeeper Mrs Manning who wastes no time in giving Sabrina a list of rules for her time living in the mansion. Some are pretty straightforward but others seem ridiculous, not leaving the house after midnight, not going to the 3rd floor, but as Sabrina is desperate for the job she agrees to follow them. A man approaches Sabrina on a trip into town asking her to investigate the death of his sister Cherise, believed to have been pushed down an embankment into the path of a car. She tells him she'll find out what she can. The household has lots of secrets and Sabrina soon becomes suspicious of everyone. Added to the story are the chapters told by the mysterious Belle.
For the first 80% of the book I was intrigued by the book, my mind was all over the place wondering where we were going next. However the end seemed to delve into craziness with the secrets going from believable to farcical.
This book is perfect for anyone who loves family dramas and hidden secrets
The Family Lies has so many twists and turns and an ending you wont see coming.
Crazy meets crazy and how I love that.
Too many lies and secrets to count.
When Sabrina Adams is offered a job of a lifetime to restore a home library for the Dorsey family she jumps on the chance and hopes her luck will change.
If it sounds too good to be true it usually is.
There are dark secrets around the Dorsey family and accusations of murder.
Angela Henry will have you looking over your shoulder, under the bed and holding your breath as the pages fly by.
This was my first but certainly not my last Angela Henry book.
I am a fan!!
Thanks to NetGalley and Storm Publishing for a wild read that kept the lights on.
This was told in multiple perspectives, but mainly told by Sabrina. Sabrina was desperate to get out of her living situation, so I can see why the job opportunity sounded like a dream come true. I immediately didn’t trust it though. From the insane rules to the cameras, I knew that Sabrina was in a for a wild ride.
I couldn’t wait to see how things played out in this one. The rules and house itself was so creepy, I wanted to know what secrets were being hidden. Mrs. Manning was very intimidating, and I can see why Sabrina wanted to avoid her at all costs. I usually can pick up things along the way, but I didn’t expect that ending. I suspected one person, but was surprised when all was revealed. The writing flowed easily, and I enjoyed this twisty tale.
For the first time ever, I am using the word, ‘spectacular,’ to describe a book.
I am speechless right now as I recall everything that took place, along with
the events that did not actually take place ~ and all that I can think to say
is that things are seldom what they seem... And the conclusion of the story
is perfect.
