This book was TWISTY. There were so many different plot points that I did not anticipate the way they would end up tying together, but they did all in the last 10% of the book. There were far more "lies" than what I originally expected.

Thank you to NetGalley and Storm Publishing for providing an e-ARC of this book in exchange for my honest opinion and review.

The third Angela Henry book I have read and another enjoyable read. As an ex librarian Angela had plenty of knowledge to write this book from and it adds to the depth of the background to this book. An interesting plot that gripped this reviewer. Thanks to Storm Publishing and Net Galley for the chance to review this book.

Told through multiple POV, we mostly follow Sabrina, who is hired to restore a personal library in a wealthy family. Upon arriving, she is given a long list of rules to follow, including some odd ones like "stay locked in your room after midnight." Through receiving a letter and hearing gossip, she is warned that horrible things happen to people who work for this family. What is this family hiding?

I found myself immediately interested in the characters. Seemingly normal people, but you question what they are hiding. In some cases, you get a hint early on, like the fact that Sabrina doesn't know how to do all of the aspects of her job. The connections are also interesting- things seem tense with the housekeeper and Sabrina has to fight her personal feelings for her gorgeous boss.

The setting of the mansion is intriguing. There are many secret pathways which are perfect for spying, eavesdropping, and sneaking around.

The writing is fantastic- I found myself tearing through the pages. When I wasn't reading, I was thinking often about the plot. Once the rumors about the family started coming to light and the first murder happens, I was completely hooked. Putting this book down became near impossible. I wanted answers. The twists were excellent and well executed. The end was absolutely mind-blowing and a bit of flurry as we discover new fact after new fact about the characters, we thought we knew about.

A fantastic book, and well worth the read.

I really enjoyed reading this book! The author crafted a suspenseful storyline full of twists that kept on coming, secrets and lies.

This is a new to me author and I really enjoyed her writing style. The story was fast-paced, it hooked my attention early and kept me turning pages. I was invested in trying to solve the Mystery.

I think Thriller fans are definitely going to want to add this one to their TBR and I'm looking forward to reading more from this author in the future!

Wow, what a rollercoaster!

Sabrina had no idea how “lucky” she was when she landed a once-in-a-lifetime job working for the Dorsey's private librarian.

This book is packed with so many unexpected twists that I had to go back and reread certain parts to ensure I understood everything correctly.

The ending left me stunned, and I've been replaying the entire story in my mind ever since.

Thank you to NetGalley and Storm Publishing for the ARC!

This book hooked me right from the start. I loved the characters and switching between points of view. I didn’t see most twists coming so it was fun to see how the story came together and the plot was developed. Parts of this book reminded me of Frieda McFadden’s The Wife Upstairs. Definitely a good read!

I really enjoyed this book and the ending was brillant, didn’t see that coming. The Family Lies is all about the Dorsey family and they have many lies. Sabrina is offered the library position in the household, but when she arrives she’s met by the housekeeper and a set of rules. Very strange rules. The story has a twist and really liked it. The setting is perfect in the old stately house and the plot was really good. It’s a page turner. 5 star read.
Thanks to Net galley and the publishers for a copy.

Angela Henry’s The Family Lies is a compeling thriller full of suspense and eerie secrets. The characters weren't that complex, but I still liked Sabrina Adams’ journey as the new librarian for the mysterious Dorsey family. It pulls you in right away, with an elegant estate full of rules, secrets, and possible danger.

While the story is undeniably engaging, the ending felt a bit too much with twist after twist. At some point, the surprises started to feel excessive. Still, the book is an entertaining read for thriller fans —just be prepared for a whirlwind finish.

Every family has secrets. Some just hide them a lot better than others.

Sabrina loves books. So went she gets an opportunity to restore the private library of a wealthy family she takes it. But there’s something off about the house, what could it be? Why must she follow so many rules?

When her employer gets question by the police about the disappearance of a local women, she doesn’t know what to believe. Sabrina can’t trust Theo, who can she trust?

I couldn’t turn the pages fast enough. Such a good psychological thriller that had end on the edge of my seat. I was so shocked by the ending! I thought one thing and then another thing happened.

If you are looking for a good psychological thriller. I’d definitely recommend this book! Thank you NetGalley, Angela and Storm Publishing for the E-ARC!

Angela Henry delivered a suspense-filled thrill ride that grips you from the very first page and refuses to let go.

This is my first book by this author and it definitely won’t be my last. Her writing is masterfully atmospheric, and the way she describes the Dorsey mansion evokes a chilling sense of isolation and danger. The setting is almost a character itself, amplifying the suspense as secrets unravel. From the creepy third-floor ban to shadowy figures lurking in the woods, readers are constantly on edge, wondering what might be lurking just out of sight.

I was hooked from the beginning. The story’s pace is relentless, with no dull moments to slow you down. It’s the kind of book that makes you say, “Just one more chapter,” until you realize you’ve read the entire thing in one sitting. I binge-read it was impossible to stop.

And the ending? Absolutely mind-blowing. The plot twists are cleverly woven, keeping you guessing and second-guessing every character’s motives. I thought I had the mystery figured out, but the final reveal left me stunned.

Perfect for fans of Freida McFadden and Lisa Jewell, The Family Lies is a must-read.

Thank you Storm Publishing and NetGalley for letting me review this amazing book!

This psychological thriller, put me on a mental rollercoaster of shocks, twists, and turns. It was fantastic!

There are multiple POVs, and the main character is Sabrina who is more than down on her luck. One thing Sabrina has on her side, however, is that she is very wise.

With her wit, she was able to acquire the job of a lifetime. However things quickly turn into a strange direction. Little nuggets of clues are given throughout the book, but you are in for a thrilling ride!

The title of this book is spot on. Do you want to know what happens? Pick up a copy and you will not be disappointed if you are looking for a thrill and for your mind to be blown away!

With so many authors nowadays comparing their new thrillers to my favorites I'm always a little skeptical. However thrillers in general do tend to stand out as my preferred reading choice but they're not always as good as their proclaimed. This book however really grabbed my attention and despite the comparison to my favorite book I really decided that would give this one a shot anyway. While it was a little slow in the beginning it really picked up after a bit. This book is all about our main character Sabrina struggling while living with her sister and her pervy brother in law, but unable to move. When the town's most eligible bachelor comes in and offers her a short term job at restoring his personal library she jumps at the offer even though she knows nothing about restoration. This can't be real, Sabrina gets to move out from her sisters house, work with books, and live with the town's most sought after bachelor? This is her dream, or so she thinks. What should be the perfect job soon becomes tarnished as Sabrina realises that the Dorcey's are hiding many secrets and she is determined to get to the bottom of it. I loved the sense of mystery that was ever present right from the get go. As a reader I was desperate to figure out what this family was hiding but desperate to keep the book going at the same time. I found this book very hard to put down and I couldn't get enough. This was a very fast paced read with lots of twists and turns. I loved the characters and even the ones I didn't like I like how well they were written. The best part about the book was the total sense for foreboding and wondering when the shoe was going to drop on our poor Sabrina. What I did find enjoyable was everytime I though I knew what the ending was going to be, the author would then announce my suspicions super early on in the book so I knew that meant there was a lot more going on behind the scenes, and I wouldn't be right. This is the perfect plot for a movie but even if it just stays a novel I feel that I'm very lucky l to have been given the opportunity to read it. This was a creepy thriller that really keeps the reader on their toes, and the twists and turns were fantastic, nothing I ever saw coming, and the ending really left me stunned. Great read and I'm so glad that I was given the opportunity to check it out early because I loved everything about it. Everytime I thought it couldn't get any better it showed up and left me completely blown out of the water. Clear your schedule when you start this one however because you will be unable to put it down. I can't wait to see what else this author has in store for us. And after a whirlwind like this book I know that this is an author no one will want to miss out on.

4.25/5 and could have been higher, but it went a little off the rails for me near the end.

The bulk of the story revolves around Sabrina, Theo, Mrs. Manning, Jared, Luca, and Belle (which also happens to be my nickname!).

This was my first Angela Henry read, and I'm impressed! As far as format, the book is organized with several POVs. POVs are chapter specific and don't bounce around unnecessarily, making the changes in characters easy to follow. The author did a great job of describing each character and setting in great detail, so it was easy to visualize the story as it progressed.

This story is creepy from the start. You're already wondering "who killed her" before you start chapter 1. I found this to be an easy read, fast to pull you in and enough going on to keep your interest. Most of the characters are keeping secrets, which helps the twists and turns to keep coming. You might think you know who did it, but you don't.

While I think the story overall is great, it did loose me a little near the end. There was some extraneous storyline happening that felt unnecessary and messy to me, and I personally believe the book would have been better without it. But that's just my opinion and I am sure others will love the details near the end of the book.

This was definitely a good read and I would absolutely recommend it to anyone who loves a good murder mystery.

A well-written, twisty, edge-of-your-seat novel that I thoroughly enjoyed reading! I loved the main character and found her to be very relatable in a way that sucked me into her story from the start. The author did a fantastic job of leading the reader along the ever-changing path of "who-dun-it", and every time I had thought I guessed it, I guessed wrong. There were layers to the book, and I enjoyed that there were plenty of other plot details to add to the depth of the story aside from the overarching theme. That to me is a great indicator of a great thriller, and I would highly recommend this to any reader who adores this same genre. Very well-done!

The Family Lies has a very gothic feel to it. Sabrina has been laid off from her job at the local library and has lied about having her library science degree. She is one class short of completing her degree and never did a masters and lied about both on her resume. When she receives an offer to catalogue a private library for the local wealthy family, she is thrilled. But the housekeeper has a series of very strict rules for her and there seem to be secrets and tension everywhere. Is one of the family a murderer or are they being set up?
The story kept me reading to see what was going to happen next. There are plenty of twists in this story and a couple of final shockers!
Thanks to Storm Publishing and NetGalley for the ARC.
