Sabrina Adams is a Librarian however not able to secure a job as a Librarian in the small Ohio town of Harper’s Ferry or even in nearby Cincinnati so is currently working part time at a local book store.
Handsome Theo Dorsey is a regular at the bookstore. Once he finds out that she is a Librarian he asks her if she might be interested in doing a private library restoration as well as appraising a private collection of books by African American authors. He said the job is estimated to take about twenty-four months but she needs to live at the estate, since she is next to unemployed-. She accepts.
She is excited when she sees the elegant estate, however soon senses something isn’t right. They have cameras everywhere ‘in’ the house however very little outside on the massive ground. She is banned from the third floor, plus told must be in her room by midnight with the door locked.

When a local woman goes missing the police arrive with questions about as Theo Dorsey, was the last person to see the missing woman alive. Hmmm
There is no doubt Theo is very attractive and Sabrina wonders if that is why she is sure he is innocent even when she get a note telling her to beware
Story definitely kept me curious.

I love psychological thrillers and always try to figure them out- first by suspecting everyone.
Yet I love when I am fooled. Yikes! I was totally fooled by this one.
It was GREAT!!!!

I am always interested in the author’s motivation for a story so the Author’s Notes’ are a must read for me. In ‘a Letter from the Author’ Ms. Henry tells us that she retired from a thirty year a library career to pursue writing full-time.

She goes on to say she loved creating imperfect characters with twisted motives. In this story she wanted to show how the past can haunt a person and make it difficult to move on.

This was my third Angela Henry and I am looking forward to her next thriller!!!

Want to thank NetGalley and Storm Publications for this early eGalley.
Publishing Release Date scheduled for January 22, 2025.

There is a lot going on on this book. While it did grab my attention and I was desperate to know the truth, the writing let this book down slightly. The descriptions of the characters were very basic, whereas the descriptions of the library and the books was too detailed. The ending was all over the place, it felt like twists were being thrown in for the sake of it.

Gripping thriller that'll have you on the edge of your seat and shivers down your spine. It's got the whole Rebecca by Daphne D vibes.
Sabrina Adams thought her luck had finally turned around when she was hired as a librarian for the wealthy Dorsey family. But as soon as she arrives at their elegant estate, she senses something is off. They have cameras everywhere. She’s banned from the third floor, and she spotted someone watching the house from the nearby woods
Twisting and winding this thriller captivates you as we hope that Sabrina the new librarian at the house will be safe.
Honestly the end plot twist will have your jaw on the ground.
Heart stopping best describes this fast paced and eerie thriller

Sabrina Adams is the third wheel at home. Forced to cohabit with her sister Cami and brother in law Bruce, Sabrina really has nowhere to go. Since her mother’s death, Cami and Bruce had moved into the property, and even though it was now co-owned by the two women, three was definitely a crowd. When a job opportunity comes up that includes accommodation, Sabrina is all for it. But at what cost?

The premise and blurb for this book made it a sure fire winner, full of mystery, murder and intrigue. However, the reality of the read was far from the promises made. The amount of repetition and bulking out was unbelievable, the book could easily have been twenty pages shorter, which, coincidentally, would have made it a snappier and more succinct read. With a fair sprinkling of errors throughout (cerise is the French word for cherry), the writing wasn’t as expected. The characters were all very thinly created, too much emphasis on how they looked as opposed to how their personalities would come across.

I did think it would be a DNF, but I persevered, though possibly should have gone with my first inclination.

2* for plot alone.

Thank you NetGalley and Storm Publishing.

I don’t even know where to begin. This book has a cast of characters with a lot of history. The twist and turns in this book are unbelievable. There is a lot going on and a lot of plot so you really need to pay attention and have a clear mind when you go in. I absolutely could not put this book down. It starts with Sabrina, going to work as a private librarian and a house filled with secrets that you don’t see coming. I hope everyone else enjoys this book as much as I did and I cannot wait to read more of Angela Henry’s books

This was such a strong psychological thriller novel, it had that element that I wanted and enjoyed from the first page. The overall story was everything that I wanted and really enjoyed everything about this. The characters had that feel that I was looking for and thought they worked in this type of book. Angela Henry has a great writing style and am excited for more.

The premise of this book immediately grabbed my attention because I love plots that revolve around estates with secrets, people with suspicious pasts, and protagonists who slowly unravel mysteries. However, the writing style felt choppy and was hard for me to get into. Additionally, the multiple perspectives and some of the one-dimensional characterizations were distracting. Ultimately, this was a DNF for me, but considering how much other reviewers enjoyed it, I'm confident it will find its audience.

Heightened tension and over the top thriller with twists and turns that you wont see coming. If you want something to erase the dreary evenings, reach for this, you wont want to put it down.
