I have found the most amazing series of children’s books that are just what our world needs! Written and illustrated by the very talented Azizi Tuere, this story is stunningly perfect. In this story we get to follow a new friend around her day while she discovers the many ways and things that make her beautiful. This book is all about encouraging children to love themselves and to discover the uniqueness that makes them so wonderful. It shows that beauty is not only on the outside but also our inner beauty that makes us kind, caring and understanding. It is also the beauty inside that makes us unique, it is what makes us happy and doing what we love.
I love the diversity of this book. I love the powerful message it sends to our little ones. Even adults need to hear this story. I love the theme encouraging children “I am beautiful because I am_____” and gets children to think and discover what's amazing about themself. She discovers her beauty in how she feels and how she treats others. My favorite line is “I’m beautiful because I am me. That’s the most beautiful thing I can be.” What a wonderful message to share. The vibrant illustrations really capture the beauty of the story.

A sky full of Stars for me

This picture book screams “Adorable!” from its very cover, with a very Molly Lou Melon-looking heroine smiling at the reader, to its twee Hallmark Card sayings like “Every moment is a gift, wrapped in wonder.” Our plucky protagonist sets “off on an adventure to find out what makes me thankful to be me.”

I’m usually a sucker for adorable moppets learning to appreciate the big and little things, so, if it’s too soppy for me, it’s soppy indeed.

A beautiful book by Azizi Tuere with a beautiful message.

Wonderfully illustrated, this book teaches us, both children and adults about the ways to show gratitude.

There is a QR code in the front of the book which takes you to certficate, collage page, colouring page and a parent teacher guide. In addition, there is a journal page and word search for the book. This book would compliment any Social Emotional learning curriculum implemented in schools.

This book was a delight. I love how well written it Is and easy to understand for my littles. The illustrations are absolutely stunning. I was super excited to be able to share this message with my kids and hope that they will ask for this book over and over.I can't wait to add this entire series to our home library!

Rarely do you find a book that is absolutely lovely, from its storyline to its underlying message to its illustrations. I'm Beautiful Because I Am by Azizi Tuere is such a book, and it should be on the bookshelf of every child and every library in the land.
Tuere is a double threat in the world of children's book, providing both the inspirational prose, and the stunningly beautiful artwork that help to bring the words to life. She gently teaches young readers the importance of appreciating the beauty around us, and illustrates that beauty with soft pastels and whimsical pictures. All the while is the underlying lesson to love oneself, because you are beautiful too. It's a lesson children and adults alike would do well to take to heart.
