Jasmine is fleeing an abusive relationship and needs to get out of town. With money borrowed from a lifelong friend she flees Madison for San Diego. On the flight she meets Stephanie who is on her way to a conference. After a few days, they text their friends the same exact messages about the same man…and that is just the start of the bizarre texts.
The Business Trip has great twists and turns, I never was 100% sure where the story was going, and it kept me on my toes. Loved it!
Narrated by a full cast!! Andrew Eiden; Dylan Fitzpatrick; Fred Berman; Gail Shalan; Hillary Huber; Jennifer Pickens; John Pirhalla; Kimberly M. Wetherell; Kirby Heyborne; Tim Campbell. So so good.
Thank you, NetGalley and Macmillan Audio!

Jasmine is in an abusive relationship. She sets a plan in motion to leave her abusive boyfriend Glenn and fly to Colorado to start her life over. Stephanie is a news director who has a business trip to a news conference in San Diego, but has a layover in Colorado. Jasmine and Stephanie sit next to each other on the plane from Madison to Colorado. Their lives change forever.
The blurb on the book/site for this book does not do a great job - Trent McCarthy is just a minor player in this story and there isn't a lot of mystery wrapped up in the plotline he's in, so it's misleading.
Reading this book felt a lot like watching "Lost." It started out interesting and I was invested, but as you go along, you see that the writer didn't have the story mapped out from the beginning and seemingly made stuff up as they went along, which culminated in a ridiculous ending. <spoiler> Really, doppelganger? This trope is as played out as "OMG IT WAS THE EVIL TWIN!" Eww. </spoiler> It went downhill quickly and stayed there.
Thanks to #NetGalley for the ARC audiobook.

Two women, Stephanie and Jasmine, meet on a flight one day and their lives are completely changed. These two are complete strangers but end up talking and hitting it off. They could become friends. But then what happens next has both of their lives spiraling out of control.
I listened to the audiobook of this story and, while I like dual point of view stories, I was a little skeptical when I saw how many authors were narrating this story. That usually means several povs, which I usually find easier to keep us with when I'm reading an actual book and not listening. However I was pleasantly surprised when I was listening. Every single narrator made each character their own and it was awesome! I especially liked the way the story was written on a unique order, going to before, after, during, before and then back to after the flight and everything came together real nicely.
And then the twists! Wow! Such great storylines and unexpected twists. One twist was expected in my opinion but most were not and I loved it! I highly recommend this book. If you love twisty, dual povs and unique storylines, you should totally check this out when it is released on January 14, 2025.
Thank you to NetGalley, MacMillan Audio, and Jessie Garcia for the advanced copy of the audiobook! I very much enjoyed the book!! Thank you sooo much!!!

This book was everything I needed and more—the plot, the characters, and THAT REVEAL! I’m completely obsessed. I can’t wait for its release so everyone can experience it, especially my friends—they’re going to devour this one! I can’t wait to read more from Jessie Garcia, this one was definitely a banger!

Highly recommend! 5 stars!

Thank you Netgalley for the advance audiobook and reader copy of The Business Trip by Jessie Garcia in exchange for an honest review. This book was full of surprises and twists and kept me guessing the whole book through. Who knew a simple business trip to San Diego could become so convoluted?

3.5 Stars. This book was fast paced and had a lot going on. There are a lot of characters, which started to feel difficult to follow in an audiobook. The narration was excellent, but at times the writing felt a bit juvenile. The ending felt too far-fetched for me. Overall I enjoyed it and would be interested in other books by this author.
Thank you to NetGalley and Macmillan Audio for my advance copy in exchange for my honest feedback.

I liked this creepy thriller! Once that twist happened I had to double-check what I had read/listened to! Jasmine and Stephanie meet on a plane, they also look like they could be doppelgängers! Stephanie is going on a business trip to a conference and Jasmine is escaping a toxic relationship. However, soon both their friends/coworkers receive a text from the women about meeting a guy and following him back to Atlanta. While Jasmine's friend is a little annoyed with her for leaving her abusive relationship without giving her a heads-up that she was leaving. However, Stephanie's work starts trying to get ahold of her and her friend and cat sitter are getting suspicious they finally get ahold of the police and the guy is a dirtbag type of guy and he is arrested with evidence on him.
However, while this seems to be a hook, line, and sinker type of mystery this is just the beginning and nothing is as it seems! There is this SHOCKING twist that you'll be on the edge of your seat, unable to put the book down until you find out what happens! Guys this should definitely be on your TBR in January! I listened to the audiobook and read the ebook too! The audiobook was phenomenal! The narrator was incredible and her voice fit the storyline and was engaging to keep my attention!
I'm really grateful for the chance to read and listen to this book. It was a real treat, and I thoroughly enjoyed all the twists and turns in the story!

Holy moly, this book had me guessing the whole way through! I thought I had it figured out, but Garcia threw so many curveballs, I was constantly wrong. The multiple POVs were a bit confusing at first, but I got the hang of it quickly.
If you're a dual reader/listener like me, the audiobook is a MUST. Each character has a unique voice actor, making it incredibly easy to follow who's who. Plus, it's just plain engaging to listen to!
Sure, some parts might be a tad far-fetched, but hey, that happens in a lot of good thrillers. This is Garcia's debut, and I'm seriously excited to see what she comes up with next!
Thank You to both MacMillan Audio and St. Martin’s Press for the ARC and ALC via NetGalley. I voluntarily read and listened and gave an honest review.

This was such a fantastic audiobook! I loved all the narrators. Having a different narrator for each POV was really helpful. All of them did a fantastic job at bringing this story to life. Even with all the different POVs it was easy to follow. I really enjoyed the pacing and writing of this book and the overall story was great! I didn’t see the twist coming but I still wanted a little bit more…maybe another twist, a little more suspense or just a more exciting ending. Something a little more to make me really love this one. I’ll definitely be recommending this one though.

Two women sit next to each other on a plane. One is on a business trip, and the other one is on the run from an abusive relationship. A couple of days later, both women sent a text to friends and family that they had met a fabulous guy and were planning on spending the next week with the guy getting to know him. Whiplash twists and turns kept me guessing. Take this gem on vacation - you will not be able to put it down. The narration was outstanding.

well, that was fun. Lots of characters whichnormally gets me confused, but this one worked. No one I really liked but nothing made me dnf. I was curious the entire time and read it all in one sitting. It would have been a five star but that epilogue wasn't it. enjoyed the rest though.

Okay, if you’re looking for your next domestic thriller, this was so good!
Stephanie and Jasmine have nothing and everything in common. The two women don’t know each other but are on the same plane. Stephanie is on a business trip and Jasmine is fleeing an abusive relationship. A few days after the flight, both women vanish after apparently meeting the same man. They stayed in contact with friends sending the same exact messages about the same exact man but as the texts become more alarming and then silent..panic sets in.
The beginning is a little bit of a slow burn while you’re putting the pieces together and really learning who the characters are. I listened and physically read this book and the audiobook really made it easy to follow along. There are a lot of characters in the beginning and the audiobook is narrated by a full cast. Each character is voiced by a different narrator and I absolutely love that.
The chapters are each a different POV and they’re short and sweet and left me dying to know more. Everything about this book was binge worthy and addicting. You can easily read this in one day.
The twists are over the top in the best way. They’re layered and clever and I had the best time thinking I knew what was going to happen and ultimately finding out I was so wrong. 😂
Such an excellent debut from Jessie Garcia, highly recommend! The Business Trip is out so soon, 1/14!
Thank you @macmillan.audio for this advanced listening copy and @netgalley @stmartinspress for the advanced reading copy.

Jessie Garcia’s The Business Trip is a dark and riveting tale that takes readers on an unexpected journey through deception, justice, and the consequences of toxic behavior. The story begins with an air of mystery as a woman on a business trip appears to go missing, leaving those close to her scrambling to uncover the truth. From there, the twists come fast and furious, creating a narrative that is as unpredictable as it is engaging.
One of the highlights of the book is the way Garcia crafts her characters, particularly Trent. His arrogance and poor treatment of others set the stage for a powerful reckoning that feels both satisfying and inevitable. Watching Trent face the consequences of his actions adds a layer of catharsis to the story, making his arc one of the most memorable aspects of the book.
The twists in The Business Trip are expertly placed, ensuring the reader is constantly guessing. Garcia’s writing is sharp and focused, making even the most shocking moments feel well-earned. The pacing keeps the tension high, and the balance between the psychological and suspenseful elements ensures the story never loses momentum.
Overall, The Business Trip is a masterfully written thriller that delivers on both its twists and its character-driven drama. Jessie Garcia has created a story that is not only compelling but also deeply satisfying in its exploration of justice and the unexpected turns life can take. A must-read for fans of intense psychological thrillers.

OMG The Business Trip was so good. I inhaled this book almost in one sitting, only stopping to force myself to go to bed. It is full of twist and turns that will have your jaw dropping in delight and disgust.
I loved the multi-cast narration! With this kind of constantly switching multiple POV, it’s a necessity and the voice actors were cast so well. They really brought the story to life and definitely influenced my perspective of the characters based on their inflections. Their narration really helped drive the story for me.

3.75 stars
I love an audiobook with a full cast narration – especially a thriller. This one was so well done. Very fast paced and entirely bingeable. I loved the edge of your seat action and all the twists and turns.
My thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review this book.

I can’t even say more than that because so many unexpected twisty things happen in this thriller, I don’t want to ruin any of them for you. Is it all believable? No, of course not, it’s too crazy and wild and I loved every moment! Never a dull moment to be sure.

What an outstanding debut! This book captivated me from start to finish with its clever storytelling & gripping plot. The narrative unfolds through multiple perspectives, with timelines that alternate between past & present, offering fascinating insights into the events from various characters’ POV.
The intricate plotting kept me on my toes—I couldn’t predict how the storylines would connect, & none of my guesses were right! While the cast of characters is large, each one is distinct & easy to follow, adding complexity to the story. The twists were plentiful, & the conclusion was incredibly satisfying, tying everything together beautifully.
I wholeheartedly recommend this book to anyone who loves a well-crafted, surprising read. It left me eager to see what the author will deliver next!
𝗣𝗹𝗼𝘁: Stephanie & Jasmine are strangers who meet on the same flight. Stephanie is traveling for work, while Jasmine is escaping an abusive relationship. Days later, they each send their friends eerily similar & increasingly bizarre texts about a man named Trent McCarthy. Then, both women disappear without explanation, triggering widespread alarm. As they are declared missing & in danger, the mystery deepens: who is Trent McCarthy, & what really happened?

SOOOO good!! the twist! I said, "hold on, wait a second" then "oooooh" I loved this so much it kept me hooked from the very beginning!!!! I could not stop listening! I loved the full cast on the audiobook!

Thank you for the early copy.
I had very hard time with this audio. I lost track of all the characters and their story lines. It was too many and I found myself losing interest and concentration. It was hard to follow.

This is a suspenseful mystery about a woman named Jasmine and she is in a bad relationship. She sees no way out except running away. On her journey to freedom, she makes calculated decisions that land her in a worse situation than before she left.
I’m still racking my brain about how the story unfolded. With so many ways it could have gone, I never would have seen this ending the way it was written.
The author had me feeling bad for Jasmine but hating her at the same time. I believe this story touches on narcissism and psychological thrills of the main character.
I listened to the audiobook and recognized the narrators. I try not to be partial or biased about them, but there are two that are on my “favorites” list: Hillary Huber & Andrew Eiden (aka Teddy Hamilton). They always portray the characters the way they should be. No question about that at all.
