I was not familiar with the authors' previous work nor with the universe this series is set in. That said, I did try to inform myself more about the overall lore, and the previous two books. What I found alluring, apart from the beautiful prose that truly captivated me right from the get-go (that entire prologue about He Who Is....pure poetry), was how refreshing it felt overall from many modern fantasies currently in the market. I cannot give my honest thoughts about how the series ended, or how the characters' journey progressed (since I simply lack too much knowledge for that). What I can say is how the dialogues were well delivered, how the exposition was done well, how the story progressed nicely, how the characters were well written (which shouldn't come as a surprise, I realize).

BUT. I can also say this: I see how this may not be a story for every fantasy reader. However, the ones who miss the complex lore and difficult names, the prose, the old roots of magic, and its fantastical creatures that made us all fall in love with fantasy in the first place... I do think they will find something very precious to love and hold dear.

Thank you so much for allowing me to read this. I will certainly check and read more about this series.

These books are always a fun read with virtually every cool thing you love about fantasy in the first place. I've been following this series for three trilogies now and I usually fly through them in about a week. With all of the grimdark and super serious fantasy out there, it's nice to know that there are still some lighthearted fantasy books out there that capture the greatness and wonder of the earliest classics. I recommend all of the books written by this duo.

This was a strong third entry in the Dragon Prophecy series, it had that element that I was looking for and enjoyed from the previous two books. The characters and world worked with this plot and was engaged with the overall feel of this. Mercedes Lackey and James Mallory had that element that I was hoping for and was glad this continued in the series. I was invested in what was happening and thought the overall story worked with this genre.
