I thought that this book was brilliant!
I loved the layout of the pages and the story was well written.
The book is a great way to introduce some of the most famous works of arts to a new, younger audience - I read the book with my daughter and she loved it - it was a lovely touch too as well to hide the mice in the pictures and we enjoyed looking for them and finding them too.
It was a pleasure to read and really enjoyable - loved the approach taken.
It is 5 stars from me for this one - very highly recommended!
This is such a fun and immersive book to help introduce kids to art! Our adorable mouse family goes through the tiny art museum, taking in the sights and imagined sounds of the works. Poor hungry Pépin searches for cheese in each artwork but to no avail — until he realizes he can create his own masterpiece and paint his own beloved cheese!
Hawkins does an amazing job of bringing these classic works to life in her own style, and I really appreciated the end pages encouraging readers to sit with the art and sensorily absorb. The earlier kids can be exposed to the magic of losing yourself in art, the better.
Thank you to NetGalley and the author for providing me with a free eARC in exchange for an honest review.
