An Exodus of Sparks by Allisa Cherry explores the ways in which grief can reshape and reform our individual identity, and I found this theme to really resonate with me on a core level. Each vignette is a complex, multi-faceted musing on defining self and family, and the autobiographical elements gave weight to the poet's conscious stream of thought. This is an evocative collection that will leave the reader with much food for thought.

So many layers that can hide in beautiful wording. I highly recommend! Thanks to NetGalley, the author and the publisher for the free eARC in exchange for my honest opinion.

I enjoyed this book of poems. The various subject matters were interesting and really layered. Beyond the technical aspect of poetry, these poems had a real grit that made them thought-provoking and memorable.
