Another winner in the Marcy Kendrick series. In fact all of Theo’s books are worthy reads. The characters in the Marcy series are all well developed, and the mysteries are just the right balance of suspense with a little terror sprinkled in. I do get frustrated at the romances, and I’m sure that is exactly Theo’s intent! You can’t help love both partners and their relationship with each other. I’m waiting patiently for the next in the series! Thanks to NetGalley for this ARC!

This was a strong sixth entry in the Detective Marcy Kendrick series, it had that concept that I was looking for from the previous five entries. The characters had that feel that I was looking for and enjoyed the detective element that I wanted. Theo Baxter wrote this perfectly and had that charm that I was looking for.

This is such an interesting read as you know who the killer is from early on and the book reveals the process of discovery for the detectives. You also get the different perspectives, including that of the mentally ill killer, which is fascinating. I found the interplay between the characters very interesting, including the complex emotions of jealousy felt by both detectives and how they dealt with it. I enjoyed reading about the food the characters enjoyed and absolutely loved the inclusion of Timber, the dog. There is so much to enjoy in this book and I highly recommend it. The ending seemed a little bit rushed to me but it was complete and satisfying so perhaps it was more that I just wanted a bit more to read…
