Star rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐/5
I received this as an arc through Netgalley.
I'm so sad that this series is officially over for me. If I had it my way, I'd read a book for ever single person in Meadowlark.
Cam and Dusty! WOW. This was an old love rekindled type of book with some time jumping from the present to the past when they both first fell in love. I'm not a huge fan of this trope or the time jumping thing, but still wouldn't change anything about this book. I went into this already emotionally invested in them from the snippets I'd seen of them in the other books.
The spice was, once again, right. Just the perfect amount of romancing, tension, and spice.
Favorite moments and quotes:
"So why was I sitting in the diviest dive bar in all of Wyoming, wearing my wedding dress, drinking straight vodka?"
-
"I'll love you until we're dust, Camille Ashwood."
-
"I like this," she said against me mouth. "I don't get picked up very often-tall girl problems." "That's the last time you're ever saying that," I said. "I'll pick you up all you want-toss you around a bit, too."
-
"I love you madly and deeply. I love you in ways that people don't believe exists in real life. I love you for who you are and who you're going to be, Ash."
What a way to finish up a series, y’all. I loved this story. By the end, I was a blubbering mess.
There’s something about a second chance romance that is written so well that makes you want to give every second chance romance a chance, ya know?
I have become obsessed with this world Sage has created and I am just sad to be done with it. I think my only complaint is that I just wanted a bit more, a bit more of the dating, him spending time with her kid, and even all the adults having conversations because the adult relationships here are so healthy and not commonly found in romance novels.
This series is like a warm hug and the final installment did not disappoint. I once again dropped everything to read this eARC before the others on my shelf. Cam has been a character that I wanted to learn more about since book one and I was so excited to get to see a story unfold for her. Dusty is a swoon-worthy book boyfriend. I had a bit of a hard time getting into this one at first because I’m still not over “Lost and Lassoed” which I read twice and listened to a third time, but once I was hooked, I couldn’t stop reading.
In the final book of the Rebel Blue series, we follow Cam and Dusty, high-school sweethearts who never really got over their first love. It was a delight to watch these two navigate a new friendship and see Cam get her well-deserved happy-ending. I have only one critique…I wanted more of a resolution with Cam’s parents. Cam’s parents really don’t deserve the time, but I still wanted to see Cam give them their due. A strong suit of this story is how well the two main characters communicate. Dusty and Cam really bring out the best in each other.
Thank you, NetGalley for this eARC! I am sad to see this series end, but I am sure I will revisit again.
And I almost forgot the wonderful bonus epilogue…🥹🥹🥹
Lyla Sage did it again! The final book of the Rebel Blue Ranch series was an absolute honor to read. The Rebel Blue Ranch series has felt like a warm hug throughout my entire reading experience.
Wild and Wrangled took a special place in my heart as my favorite in the series! It was so beautiful to see where everyone from the past books have ended up, and to finally see the end of Cam and Dusty's story <3
Tropes :
Golden Retriever / Soft Boy
Friends to Lovers!
Second Chance Romance!
Found Family
The romance was adorable, captivating, and made my heart swoon! Dusty was the sweetest character ever, and he reminds me so so much of my own partner.
I don't want to spoil too much about this book, but PLEASE pick it up and read!! I fell in love with all of the character's more and more with every page turn.
Thank you for your dedication and for letting us into your world once again Lyla Sage <3 I cannot wait to see what you have in store for us next.
And thank you Net Galley for the opportunity to read this early! I would have pestered everyone possible if I wouldn't have gotten my hands on this as early as I did!
CAM & DUSTY ❤️
4.5 ⭐️
These two were worth waiting for. Their relationship was so achingly beautiful.
And talk about a celebration of the other characters in the series! My last trip to Rebel Blue was everything— and now I think I need to start again from Book 1
This was a nice surprise and a solid way to conclude this series. I didn’t care for books 2 or 3 in this series, but I did enjoy this one.
This was a second-chance romance that checked the boxes: tension, yearning, first love, regret, etc. I think that the crumbs we got of Cam and Dusty in the previous books were good for context here. The plot made sense and had a good flow. I was invested!
Dusty was perfect, as the men usually are in this series. Ultimate book bf material. I liked Cam, however I don’t think she really had any growth. She never actually confronted her parents (who are her biggest nemeses), and that horrible third act breakup that lasted for a chapter made me want to scream. Thank god Wes talked some sense into her because what?
The flashback chapters felt a little unneeded, I think we could’ve just gotten a prologue and that would’ve done the job.
Overall, this is probably the second best in the series. I love the Ryders and all the characters in this series, and I think this was cute, enjoyable ending to the series.
I absolutely love this series so much, and I am quite sad that it is over!
However, I LOVED this installment! I was so happy to get Cam and Dusty’s story, and also to get some of their back story! Rebel Blue Ranch feels like somewhere that could be home, even though it’s fictional.
I will definitely reread this series sometime soon, and I am going to talk it up to all my reader friends!
Thank you so much for allowing me to read these early!
The setting of Rebel Blue has always felt like a comfort place and the fact that this is the last book makes me incredibly sad but also I’m so so happy because this book is written so well. This is definitely the best book in the series. The second chance romance between Cam and Dusty is beautifully written and I feel emotionally connected to the characters.
4.5 stars
I loved this book so much more than than I thought I would. I was the least excited about reading Cam and Dusty's story of all the main characters in this series and this might be my favorite book.
I really enjoyed this series, with an exception of this book.
The author’s note at the start had me all teary and ready for one last ride at Rebel Blue. But the story just didn’t deliver. The pacing of the middle of the story, dragged and the flashbacks were not really helping move the plot along.
The antagonist of the story was not Cam’s ex who left her at the alter on her wedding day, but Cam herself. She is selfish and creates the problems in her own life. She was so concerned about her parents’ money that she’d marry some guy she didn’t love? Bring that guy into her daughter’s life just for money? Gross. Cam is a lawyer and capable of making money and yet she’s still acting like a child who needs to make her parents happy? Why? There is no reason.
From the point when Dusty returns, Cam avoids him like he’s the villain of her past, but he literally never did anything but love and support her. His character is given almost no substance and no development arc. He loved her as a kid, and he loves her now. He’ll do anything for her and she knows it, but doesn’t trust it or his staying power? Huh?
Surely when we finally found out why they broke up we’d know why she treated him this way? Nope. She followed him to his dream job and then instead of carving her own path, got bored and went back to her parents for their money and their rules. So why were we avoiding Dusty? What did he do to gilt her? Nothing. She left a note and ran away, and then he stayed away for 15 years before coming back home to set down his roots.
All the other books in this series had fully formed characters with fleshed out backstories; both the FMCs and MMCs had development arcs. Unfortunately, in this final chapter, Dusty was given no real story. He wasn’t given the freedom to grow or get mad or have his own requirements in their relationship. He just had to slot into Cam’s life in anyway she’d allow him and let her yo-yo around with his heart until she finally realized that no matter how hard she pushed, he’d still be there.
There was also a missed opportunity when they said they’d be together until they were “dust”. Why not use both of their names and say until we’re “ash and dust”?
Lyla Sage- you have done it again. What an ending. What a goodbye to these characters and to Rebel Blue Ranch. I am a sucker for second chance romances especially when they involve a tatted blonde cowboy named Dusty Tucker who’s spent 15 years yearning for shy studious Camille Ashford. This one brought me to tears and made me laugh and blush throughout. My heart ached in the best way at every page. I must admit I was a little weary of this one because it didn’t involve any of the main Ryders but I was so very wrong to have doubts. Cam is just as much a Ryder as anyone else. I love how the Ryders and Tuckers always loved her as their own because she absolutely deserves the love and attention and care that her own parents never gave.
4 stars because I wish I’d seen even more of a relationship between Dusty & Riley like Teddy & Riley in L&L and more of Dusty & Cam as an official couple. (maybe I also just didn’t want this to end and would read 300 more pages to their story) However, I love love loved the side relationships between Dusty & Teddy and Cam & Ada, Wes and Amos. I love this series. I love these characters. Bravo.
Wild and Wrangled is the final installment in Lyla Sage's Rebel Blue Ranch series and an absolutely perfect end to the world of Meadowlark. Sage is an incredible writer and I can't wait to see what she does next. Thanks to NetGalley and Dial Press for the advanced copy!
The crumbs we got of Cam and Dusty were just enough to HYPE this book up. And it did NOT disappoint. I read this in a day and loved every minute. This *might* be my favorite of the series.
This review is all over the place and better read after you've read this book. So just read this book. Read this series.
Lyla Sage, keep writing. I can't wait to see what's next.
Wild and Wrangled is second chance romance done right. It's slow burn and so satisfying when everything finally falls into place. I am SO sad that this series is over.
Cam and Dusty had chemistry and history. The reasons for them falling apart was realistic for the time of life they were in. I wish there had been a bit more closure regarding Cam’s relationship with her parents and the trust fund motivation introduced early on—it felt like it fizzled out without much follow-up.
I couldn't love Dusty more. He is such a unique character and I loved that he just puts himself out there and is so honest with himself and with Cam. I loved seeing him bonding with Riley. Cam held back so much that when she opens up and softens more towards Dusty and finally lets herself BE herself - ah, just so good.
(Side note: this is super trivial, but…at the beginning, does Dusty say, “I’ll love you until we’re dust in the wind”? That’s what I remember, but later it’s just “until we’re dust.” I double-checked, and the full line is “I’ll love you until we’re dust in the wind, Camille Ashwood.” I loved that phrasing and wish it had been consistent. Nitpicky, I know, but worth mentioning!)
I absolutely loved this book and it was such an amazing end of the Rebel Blue series.
Easy 5 stars.
I really liked this whole series. Each one including this one was fast paced without the instant fall in love, which I like. Based in the west, cam and dusty reunite after she gets left at the altar. As she navigates her life after Dusty is there to help her pick up the pieces.
Lyla Sage, please never stop writing about cowboys in Meadowlark!!! I think it's safe to say to day that I devour every single iteration of cowboy romance. In this one, we see Dusty and Cam's love story, and it was so tender. I am a sucker for a second chance romance and this one did not disappoint!! It was obvious that Dusty was enraptured by Cam from the minute he joined our cast of characters. My only qualm with this story was that it felt like we didn't get to see enough of their relationship once they worked through some miscommunications. It just felt like it got cut short a bit. Needless to say I will obviously read any and everything set in this world in the future!
I absolutely loved this book. Lyla Sage does not miss. I’m heartbroken that Rebel Blue Ranch is over, but excited for what comes next.
Cam and Dusty and meant for each other. They are so in love it hurts. Even with all these years apart their tension is still palpable and very much alive and well. Dusty is so down bad for Cam. His willingness to work with her through everything showed his commitment.
Cam’s growth is spectacular, watching her working through her issues in real time was inspiring. Her issues with her parents impact her decisions as a parent. Her commitment to co-parenting with Gus in a healthy manner was done so well.
Wow Lyla Sage has done it again! What a beautiful ending to a series. Cam and Dusty were absolutely worth the wait. A heartfelt love story with just the right about of spice. I might’ve cried a few times during the epilogue. I’m going to miss the people of Rebel Blue Ranch, but I can’t wait to see what Lyla writes next!
Lyla Sage wrote an absolute masterpiece for her finale to the rebel blue ranch series. I adored Cam and Dusty with their shared history and being able to see how their love began with flashbacks to their teenage selves. Also, the fact that Cam was learning to be brave to give their love a second chance, while Dusty never lost hope that they would be together again gave me all the feels. Plus at the end having that Emmy bonus chapter helped tie the series to a beautiful close, seeing where each couples were in their lives. I will recommend Wild and Wrangled plus the whole Rebel Blue series over and over because it is THAT good.
Lyla Sage is a master of the romcom. I genuinely think Dusty might be one of the best romantic leads in any romance novel.
