This was a very silly book! It had a very quick pace as it moved from one idea to another. I do wish it had an extra page or two with each idea, because I felt that some of them weren't explored to their full potential. The book is a little bit long, but I think an older kid wouldn't mind that. If I used this book for Storytime or in an elementary school I would probably shorten it just a little bit. Some of the rhymes didn't have a great rhythm, but overall I enjoyed this book!

Very cute story. My littles laughed at all the silly things the dragon attempted to try to eat a snow cone. The illustrations were vibrant and attention grabbing with lots of detail.
Thank you for allowing me to review NetGalley, Amanda Sobotka, and Cider Mill Press.

A beautifully illustrated book that teaches children about perseverance and how to be creative with solving problems.
A fun and engaging story for children aged 3-7 years of age which see a cute dragon trying to eat a snow cone but none of his plans seem to work.

Great story for bedtime or story hour. Engages the curiosity and problem solving in a lighthearted situation. The art work and length is perfect. Recommend.

I received an ARC from the publisher in exchange for an honest review
Dragons Can't Eat Snow Cones by Amanda Sobotka is a rhyming picture book. The titular dragon wants to eat a snow cone quite badly but it keeps melting every time he gets it close to his mouth. So he asks other animals, a fisherman, and pirates to help him come up with a plan.
This was a very cute picture book. The art is colorful and cartoon-y without feeling busy or making the text hard to read. I loved that the times when there are repetition, the words were highlighted in a different color and made bigger so beginning readers can see the letters easier and try the words out themselves. This is also a great way to test the knowledge of young readers, particularly on the habitats of animals like penguins and gophers and slightly more advanced vocabulary such as ‘commotion.’
I would recommend this to young readers who like fantasy picture books with humorous premises

Such a cute story about a dragon who can’t eat snow cones and his journey for just one taste . My daughter loved it!

A dragon who doesn't give up, even after trying to eat a snow cone countless times and melting it before a single bite! Will he ever manage?
Maybe we all need to be more like this dragon and keep on trying!

This was a very cute story. It is about a dragon who hopes more than anything to have his very own snow cone, but it keeps melting before he can eat! He goes to various animals for advice, and is eventually able to have the snow cone of his dreams!
I think children will love the rhyming scheme, as well as the beautiful and entertaining art. Perfect for any dragon lovers!

Fun book following a dragon as he gets advice on how he can go about eating a snow cone without it melting first.. Some great problem solving ideas and help from friends.
It’s a must read if you are looking for a fun book or a dragon book.
I’ll be buying it for my dragon loving nephew.
Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the arc.

Very cute read that is almost like combining “Dragons love tacos” with “If you give a mouse a cookie”. Great read-aloud for younger children (4-7). As an adult, the squirrel visit made the least sense, but overall the story was enjoyable and fun to read. My 6 year old loved the illustrations and the overall story.
Thank you to NetGalley, Amanda Sonya and Applesauce Press for the DRC.

This is a sweet story with adorable illustrations. A cute book for any dragon lover or small child. Would make an excellent bedtime book

Sweetly silly, this dragon goes to extremes to try and achieve his dream.
Very fun illustrations of a dragon’s attempt to eat a snow cone. The rhyme is loose, but the message clear: sometimes what you want is right under your nose. You just have to grab the chance when it arrives.
Thanks to @NetGalley for sharing this DRC with me for an honest review.

A dragon is faced with a tricky problem - how can he eat a snow cone without it melting? He comes up with lots of ideas and eventually perseveres. The illustrations were particularly dynamic with varied colors, settings and lots of fun details. The dragon looked appealing, children can relate to both his curiosity and determination. The rhyming flowed well and the length was perfect for young children. I loved that the ending opened up to a new problem.

the title make you think and creates problem solving thinking

Dragons can't eat snow cones is a fun and colorful picture book that takes you on the journey to eat delicious sweet treat. Although, it may be difficult for a dragon to eat a sweet frozen treat.
Really enjoyed the art in the book, the images are great and very engaging for children. This is a book that would do really well for a story time. I think kids would really enjoy it and find it funny. The only thing is it is a tad long, might lose some of the littles attention.
All in all, a really good picture book!!

The fire breathing dragon had to go on an adventure to find a way to eat a snow cone. But a dragons got to do what a dragons got to do.
It was adorable story, kids definitely get a kick out of the avalanche.

This is a story that follows a dragon on a journey in seek of a solution to their breath always melting the snow cone before they can enjoy it. Throughout the story the dragon seeks advice from other creatures that is quite funny and clever and there are subtle jokes hidden throughout the illustrations. The dragon shows perseverance and creativity in problem solving as they work to reach their goal. I love how the story followed a rhyme sequence and it flowed very well. This story is a total delight bound to result in giggles and keep little listeners or readers enthralled. This book is a must for any classroom library

I loved the illustrations. My children thought it was funny. I loved all the different characters he went and talked to. The length of the book was just right.

This was the cutest story with the best animations! Great for the kids and such a fun read. Would definitely add this to my shelf!

Go on an adventure with a dragon as he tries to find a way to eat a snow cone.
Great problem solving and trial and error themes through the story which I feel are important lessons for kids.
Engaging story with vibrant words and illustrations that don’t distract from the story but help kids visualize the important elements of the plot.
The rhymes are a bit off at times but I don’t think kids would notice as much as an adult.
