Horrible Husbands by Jessica Huntley is a suspenseful but also laugh out loud hilarious thriller! I couldn't put this book down I was so invested in what was going on. Lisa, Holly and Penny have been friends since childhood, sharing secrets, dreams and laughs as they navigated life together. Even after they moved to opposite ends of the country they still kept in touch with The B!tches group chat. But each of these women are hiding things. Lisa is married to Simon who abuses her, Holly is married to Will a lazy thief and Penny is married to Drake who cheated on her and who knows what else he is hiding. After 3 years of not seeing each other in person The B!tches plan a weekend at Penny's house where copious amounts of alcohol is consumed and all of the secrets the girls have hidden from each other come out. Thus begins a plan to reclaim who they once were. A plan to kill their horrible husbands.
This book was a highly amusing and thrilling read. Told from the POVs of the three women, this book alternates from the present to the past while we figure out all of the secrets that are being kept. And that ending? Holy! I thought I knew what was going on but nope.. I was wrong! If you are looking for an addictive humorous thriller that you want to read in one sitting, look no further!

However, the vigilante theme kept the story moving at a fast pace. I'm still processing my thoughts on it, but overall, it was a gripping and thrilling read.

I love this book and I love this author. I live for books about bad husbands. It scratches some weird itch I have. Freely hating these fictional men gives me so much joy.
That ending! I was so surprised.
As a mother of twins I felt so much for Penny. I have to say that the Acknowledgements gave me chills. I have an Alice and a Kate. I hope they go on girls trips with their bestie when they're all grown up. I hope they come up with books too.

Three women, best friends since childhood. Three husbands, who have all made big mistakes. When a weekend away gets the girls to finally be honest with each other, we get this fantastic page turner…

“The Bitches” haven’t seen each other in three years, though they text and FaceTime constantly. All three women have things in their marriages that they haven’t even confessed to their best friends: Lisa is married to the abusive Simon, Penny is married to the cheating Drake, and Holly is married to the lazy, thieving Will - and these are the LEAST of the things these men have done. I’ll let those who read it find out the rest of their sins, but let’s just say, you may want to kill them too!

When Penny invites her friends to her house for a weekend and the alcohol starts pouring, a deviously delicious plan is hatched - they need to kill their horrible husbands. This book had me hooked from page one, but when the planning started, I couldn’t stop reading until the ending that had me laughing and pumping my fist. Told from the points of view of the three women, this book seamlessly works its way through events of the past, as well as what is happening in the present.

I haven’t read a book this suspenseful in quite a long time - the bonus is that this book is also darkly humorous, filled with great characters, and gets emotional at times. It’s not easy to put all of those facets into a book, as well as have so many stories happening at the same time, and not have everything come out convoluted, but the author did it. There was no way I could put this one down until it was over, and because it’s so enthralling, it was a very quick read. Five stars!

This book is crazy….in a good way!! Definitely held my attention from start to finish. Read it very quickly because I couldn’t wait to see what happened next. A girls weekend went from lounging poolside and lots of wine drinking to planning their husbands demise. Good satisfying ending….which is a dealbreaker for me. I’ve already recommended this book to friends and coworkers. Put this on your TBR list!!

Wow!! What. Did. I. Just. Read. This book was so amazingly good, I read it in one sitting. The premise of the story was brilliant, and was unlike anything I've read before. I settled in on page one and barely looked up until the jaw dropping ending!

The story follows Holly, Lisa, and Penny who are childhood best friends. They plan a girls weekend since it had been many years since they had gotten together. During this weekend they discover they had all been hiding how horrible each of their husbands are. Vowing to never be hurt by them again, they devise a plan to rid them of their narcissistic husbands.

This is a fast paced story with a few excerpts from the past to tie up the stories of each character. The female characters are relatable while the male characters leave a bad taste. The action started right away and was plentiful throughout with an ending i didn't see coming. This book would make a great movie. I highly recommend reading this.

Thanks to Netgalley and Joffe Books for an advanced copy

Lisa, Holly and Penny have been best friends since childhood, living in different parts of the country means it’s hard for them to meet up but a rare girls weekend after 3 years has them spilling all their secrets about their marriages. These are not just minor complaints and to save themselves and others from their dangerous husbands they devise a plot to murder them.

This book was so exciting, it was hard to put down, I loved all 3 women’s characters, they were easily relatable and we get chapters from the past too which really help pull the story together. It’s a gripping, binge worthy thriller with snippets from their WhatsApp group chat aptly named ‘The Bitches’

Penny, Holly, and Lisa have been inseparable since childhood, but their bond takes an unexpected turn during a long-overdue girls' weekend getaway. While venting about their miserable marriages, the three women share shocking secrets about their husbands—secrets so dark that they begin to entertain the unthinkable: murder. A twist on the classic "Strangers on a Train" premise, the key difference here is that these women already know each other all too well.

Told from the perspectives of all three women, the story delves into their desires, frustrations, and the toxic marriages they endure. While the plot is undeniably dark, there are moments of biting humor that offer a reprieve from the tension. The twists and turns keep the reader guessing, and the characters are richly developed, each one revealing more layers as the story unfolds. I was immediately drawn into their world and found myself hooked from start to finish.

While the ending might feel a bit far-fetched, it fits within the over-the-top nature of the narrative. Overall, it’s a thrilling, fast-paced read with a perfect mix of suspense, drama, and dark comedy.

Thank you to NetGalley and Joffe Books for this ARC.

This book is about three women who have been friends for years even though they are now scattered across the UK and haven't met in person in ages. They have one thing in common: they all have horrible husbands.

Lisa is a pharmacist living in England. Her husband Simon is a domestic abuser and gaslighter.
Holly is a personal trainer with a disabled hand, living in Scotland. Her husband Will is a gambler, a thief and maybe a cheating murderer too.
Penny is a well-off business woman with two kids, living in Wales. Her husband Drake is a cheat and a possible paedophile. Throughout the story we learn that some of them are also other things.

This all comes out when the women meet for a long overdue girls' weekend, at the end of which a shocking plan is formed - at least two of the three husbands will be killed by them and the third will be investigated for criminal shenanigans.

This isn't an easy read, and especially some of the flashbacks are brutal. Domestic violence and rape are described in disturbing detail so prepare yourselves.
I feel the flashbacks are mostly unnecessary and the halfway twist is very obvious from the beginning, but there's another twist or two towards the end I wasn't expecting at all.

This is a terrific multi POV description of revenge when women can't abide the monsters in their lives anymore. I feel that how they get away with it all is not really explored realistically, but it didn't impede my enjoyment of the tale. Recommended if you like women turning the tables in a psychological suspense story that is high on action.

Jessica Huntley’s Horrible Husbands delivers a captivating and wildly entertaining tale that hooks readers from the very first page. The novel’s premise—a group of women devising an outrageous yet oddly plausible scheme—immediately grabs attention, blending elements of humor, drama, and social commentary.

What truly elevates this story is Huntley’s masterful writing. Her ability to balance the absurdity of the women’s plan with an underlying sense of realism keeps readers engaged. The relatability of the characters and their frustrations adds depth to the narrative, making it both amusing and thought-provoking. Huntley captures the complexities of relationships with wit and candor, ensuring the story remains grounded despite its larger-than-life premise.

The pacing is brisk, and the dialogue sparkles with humor and authenticity, pulling readers deeper into the world of these women and their unconventional approach to addressing their grievances. It’s a testament to Huntley’s skill that what could have been a far-fetched concept instead feels plausible and, in some ways, cathartic.

Horrible Husbands is a sharply written, laugh-out-loud exploration of marriage, empowerment, and camaraderie. Jessica Huntley’s clever storytelling and relatable characters make this a must-read for fans of contemporary fiction with a humorous edge. It’s a delightfully wild ride that will leave readers eagerly anticipating what Huntley has in store next.

From the moment I dove into "How to Commit the Perfect Murder in Ten Easy Steps," I was captivated by Jessica's unique writing style and her wicked dark humor. So, when I spotted the cover of "Horrible Husbands," I didn't hesitate—I knew I had to read it!

The story unfolds during a long-needed girls' weekend for three close friends. Though they chat constantly, each woman harbors deep, unsettling secrets that unravel as the weekend progresses.

Readers get a multi-dimensional view of a dark and deliciously twisted tale through alternating perspectives. It's incredible to witness the strength these women demonstrate as they rally to support one another through their troubling predicaments. The lengths they go to protect their friendships are nothing short of astounding. And the ending? A perfect blend of resolution and possibility that leaves you both satisfied and eager for more!

Thanks to the author and Joffe Books for providing this this ARC VIA BookSiren and NetGalley. As always, all opinions are my own and left voluntarily.

This is a dark and twisty book that will keep you in it's clutches the whole ride! Lisa, Penny and Holly are best friends that have been embarrassed to tell each other how truly awful their husbands are. When the secrets come out, the ladies plot to kill each other's husbands as only a best friend can. "They may be good friends, but I don’t think they’d go as far as killing for me.’ ‘No, because only best friends would do that." Please be sure to read trigger warnings as the book starts with a particularly brutal scene.
