Penny, Holly and me. We’ve been best friends since we were seven years old. We tell each other everything.
Well . . . almost everything. I haven’t told them about Simon.
The first time he hit me was on our wedding anniversary. He broke down in tears afterwards. That’s the thing about Simon. He’s always sorry . . . until the next time.
I’m not sure why I don’t tell my friends about my horrible husband. Maybe it’s because I don’t want them to worry. They have their own problems.
Now we’ve descended on Penny’s stunning country home for a rare girls’ weekend.
As the cocktails flow, the truth starts to come out. It turns out I’m not the only one keeping secrets. Bloody hell, we sure can pick them.
As I find out about the awful things Penny and Holly’s partners have done, we make a we’ve put up with our good-for-nothing husbands for long enough. It’s time to put things right. Permanently.
“Here’s to our horrible husbands. May they get what’s coming to them.” We clink our glasses and drink.
It seemed like such a good idea at the time. To kill our lying, cheating, murderous spouses. But now what’s going to happen . . . ?
Loved it
Thank you NetGally and publisher for this book!
Wow! WOW! Wow!! Boy was this book a great one! I enjoyed this writing style. All of the twist and turns. This thriller was definitely one I had a hard time putting down. I guessed wrong every time!! I will be picking up more books by this author ASAP!!
Penny, Holly and Lisa get together after many years for a girl's weekend. They keep in contact via Whatsapp, but do not mention how unhappy their marriages are.
It all comes out over the weekend, and they decide to kill their husbands.
Easily a 5 star read for me. I stayed up late to try and finish it, but the need to sleep won, so I woke up early to read the final chapters.
Riveting, fast paced, emotional, triggering. I could not put this book down.
I rate it among the best I have read this year.
Thanks to Netgalley and Joffe Books for the ARC.
Three best friends; Penny, Holly, and Lisa. They live in different parts of the UK and don’t get to see each other nearly as often as they’d like, so Penny decides to remedy that and invites Holly and Lisa to her home for the weekend.
They’re having a fabulous time but then the drink loosens their tongues, and they each tell the others about their horrible husband. Lisa’s husband is violent towards her, Holly suspects her husband may have killed someone, and it looks as though Penny’s husband might be cheating on her. They decide that they’re going to do something about those horrible husbands and come up with a plan – to murder them.
We all like a story that suddenly has an “I wasn’t expecting that!” moment, and this one certainly has a very big surprise that I didn’t see coming. Absolutely gripping and will definitely read more by this author.
Thank you to NetGalley and Joffe Books for an advance reader copy in return for an honest review.
An interesting premise for a story though i thought the ending was a little far fetched.
I generally liked the easy flow of the book which made it easy to read. Three women scorned, what will they do for revenge?
Thanks to net galley and the publishers for this arc
3.5 stars
Horrible Husbands is about three friends who hatch a plan to kill their husbands. It left me gasping for breath from the unbelievable twists that just started coming and didn't let up. I got frustrated with how much crap that the women have to deal with from there husbands and I actually screamed with desperation. I enjoyed how much they could rely on each other for support and I liked that the chapters were sharp and short alternative between the three.
