This is an utterly enchanting read that beautifully blends friendship, love, and a bit of mystery in a sweet Regency romance. From the moment George Kirkland and Arabella Canning are introduced, their long-standing friendship quickly becomes the heart of the story. The premise of a marriage of convenience, driven by the promise of a country home and fortune, immediately drew me in with its charm.
Arabella's vulnerability and longing for a home of her own are beautifully portrayed, making her a relatable and endearing character. Her lack of experience in courtship and flirtation only adds to her charm, and I couldn't help but root for her to find love on her own terms. Meanwhile, George, with his secretive nature and complex personality, adds layers of intrigue to their relationship. Their connection, based on years of friendship, is both tender and deeply moving, and watching it evolve into something more is pure magic. The complexities of their neurodivergences add depth to their relationship and the story. Their journey, filled with secrets, revelations, and emotional growth, is both captivating and heartwarming.
The mystery surrounding the treasure hidden in Dogwood Cottage added intrigue to the plot. The potential for gold and precious jewels lures both characters into an adventure that is as thrilling as it is romantic. The suspense surrounding the unknown adversary, who continuously disrupts their peaceful life, keeps the plot fresh and engaging. The treasure hunt is an unexpected and exciting twist, seamlessly blending romance and mystery.
Overall, this story is an enchanting and sweet escape into a world where love and friendship triumph, and hidden treasures—both literal and emotional—are waiting to be discovered. A true gem, which offers wit, charm, mystery, and most importantly, a love that is built to last. If you're looking for a heartfelt and delightful read, this book is not to be missed.

Trying to decide whether to read Discovery at Dogwood Cottage? I can't tell you whether you will like it, but I can say that this is a closed-door historical romance featuring two neurodivergent leads. Though the novel contains a mystery subplot, the primary focus is on the characters' developing relationship. Discovery at Dogwood Cottage is the second book in a series, but it can easily be read on its own, as it contains only passing references to the events of the first book.

Two characters, Arabella and George, who are childhood friends, decide to embark on a marriage of convenience. He gets an inheritance from his uncle, she gets security. They are both neurodivergent, and the book focuses on how friendship needs to more to make a successful marriage. The side plot with the missing treasure is also handled well.

3.5 stars

I just couldn't get into this...Ive tried about three times. I can see that the author has written two neuro divergent leads but I found it very difficult to find any empathy for the heroine. Unlike other reviewers I liked book one but for me this was a miss.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own

Discovery at Dogwood Cottage by Anne Rollins
What I enjoyed about this book:
🐕 Hidden treasure
🐕 Friends to lovers
🐕 Marriage of convenience
🐕 A country home
🐕 Closed door romance, kisses described
An enjoyable and engaging read! The characters have their own little quirks and are definitely memorable! I would recommend for fans of Georgette Heyer! The kissing was a little overly discriptive for me, but I would definitely pick up more books by this author.
Part of a series, I read as a standalone and had no problems.
Favorite quote: "In truth, character development was George’s least favorite part of writing fiction. He preferred catapulting his characters from one ridiculous situation to another."
Favorite scene: The ending

A Marriage of Convenience

Two childhood friends marry so that George can inherit a cottage reputed to contain a treasure. Many have looked for this treasure over the years, but no one has ever found it.

George and Arabella would have challenges to overcome. Their neurodiversity would get in the way at times. Then, there were George's secrets. To make matters worse, the treasure hunters were still looking for the treasure. Would George and Arabella find this elusive treasure? Would they turn their marriage of convenience into a loving one?

I was not going to purchase this book after reading the first but it had been made available as read now on NetGalley so I figured why not. This was a vast improvement from the first book. It was much less “proper” and there was enough dialog between characters for me. I liked both George and Annabella together, I felt they were very cute together in their path to learn each others behaviors and to support one another. The side story about the mystery at the cottage was simple and easy and I felt like was an interesting sun plot with out diverting from the main story which is romance. It is closed door but a little more colorful than the first book, some things are insinuated and there are a couple naughty thoughts. A few kisses happen on page but nothing overly descriptive. I do wish some of the conversations that Belle had wanted to have like about money were done page because she thought about that a few times and it makes sense that she would want to speak to him about it. 3.5 I think that this author will just keep improving and I look forward to reading more by her! Thank you for the ARC in exchange if my honest review.

While I usually prefer spicier reads, the sweetness and depth of Discovery at Dogwood Cottage still won me over. I absolutely LOVE Anne Rollins' authentic representation of neurodivergent characters. As a fan of the "marriage of convenience" trope, I loved reading about George and Arabella's relationship which is rooted in shared history and definitely shaped by their quirks. Their emotional evolution was very lovely and I also enjoyed the treasure hunt subplot. This is a clean romance with a charmingly happy ending!

I would like to thank Netgalley and Dragonblade Publishing for a free copy of the book in exchange for an honest review.

I loved that both leads were neurodivergent and by a neurodivergent author. The story dragged a little but it was enjoyable.

This is a sweet historical romance about good friends finding happiness. I must admit the characters are a little tame for me. I kept wanting to shake them up to find the fireworks. It is amusing how they cope with each other's idiosyncrasies. Those are the things that would drive me mad in real life.
A lighthearted read.

This is a charming, slow-burn romance and at times I despaired of the the couple ever connecting on a level that would make their lives so much easier. There is a vast difference between good childhood friends and being married to each other. George thought he was taking the easy way when he proposed to Arabella Canning, his shy and somewhat awkward neighbor, especially if he wanted to gain the inheritance his uncle dangled before him and his cousins. George has his own quirks that result in Bella being hurt by his negligent attitude, but when it seems that their new home attracts the attention of treasure seekers, the couple has to work together to solve the mystery. The plot comes to a surprising conclusion, but the lessons learned are the real treasure, bringing about a revelation of how important Bella is to him. I received a copy of this romance as a gift through Dragonblade Publishing and NetGalley and this is my honest and voluntary review.

A well written story with a relatable plot and outstanding characters. There's a bit of a twist in the story. George with his many quirks sets out to marry his sister's friend, Arabella in a marriage of convenience. She also has a quirky personality yet the two work together searching for hidden treasures in their new home. Fully engaging and very captivating.

This is a sweet friends to marriage story with a mysterious twist. I enjoyed the neurodivergent protagonists and their relatable quirks. In trying to win a race to marriage in order to gain a home and fortune from his uncle George Kirkland convinces his sisters friend to marry him in lieu of being shipped off to relatives as free childcare. Their new home comes with a legend of hidden treasure and some break ins. In the search for the treasure they come to find deeper feeling for each other. I enjoyed this book and will look at more the author has published in the future.

This was a strong sequel in the Beau Monde Secrets series, it had that feel that I was expecting from the first book. The overall story worked with what I was hoping for and enjoyed the way the Regency Historical romance element going through this. It left me wanting to read more in this series and from Anne Rollins.

George and Belle initially got married to obtain Dogwood Cottage from his uncle. Along the way they got to know each other better and discovered a secret about their new house. This is a gentle, sweet, closed door romance. Additionally, those with autism and ADHD will find representation.
Thank you to netgalley for the ARC. Opinions are my own.

A competition and a treasure. George Kirkland's uncle bribed his nephews with the ownership of Dogwood Cottage and an inheritance to live on. The first one to marry wins the prize.George can think of only one young lady he could quickly ask to marry. His childhood friend Arabella Canning but It won't be easy to convince her. Bella wants her own home and family, but can George be the man to fulfill her dream. A marriage of convenience between friends is a good foundation. Once they move into Dogwood Cottage they begin to adjust to each other's personalities. If only the rumor of treasure hidden in the house could be stopped...or found. Interesting characters with a nice plot. Clean romance with kisses.

A strong improvement on the first in the series! I liked these two main characters very much. The neurodivergent rep was very welcomed, especially in Arabella’s case. Still had that domestic, low stakes feeling as the first book but I was more invested this time around.
