This is a gripping historical romance that explores the complex dynamics of duty, loyalty, and love amidst the backdrop of England's tumultuous medieval period. The novel follows Richard Grancourt, a knight loyal to Empress Matilda, and Lady Annora de Maris, a woman warrior caught between her loyalty to her son and the Empress. Their paths cross when Annora discovers a secret plan, and Richard is forced to capture her.
The story balances action and emotional depth. Richard's internal struggle between his knightly code and his growing affection for Annora adds layers of complexity to their evolving relationship. Annora is a strong, multifaceted character, torn between her duty and her heart, making her a captivating character.

The tension between the two characters builds beautifully as they navigate their conflicting allegiances. Their slow-burning romance is filled with moments of tenderness amid the chaos of war, making their bond all the more beautiful.

Overall, the story is well-paced, with an emotional journey and compelling characters, and a love story that transcends the boundaries of duty and war.

Anora and Richard are meant for each other, but destiny and war puts a temporary hold on their evolving love story. Anora serves King Stephen, involuntarily, as he is holding her son ransom. Richard is on the opposing side, they meet, fall in l9ve, but have to seperate. Richard holds on to his conviction that he will be able to get Anoraand her son back. With her intelligence, strategic mind, and warrior skills and his support, they eventually reach their hea.

A nicely written book, and although I have not read prior books in the series, I did not feel that I lost too much context.

Enemies-to-Lovers, Medieval Romance

Love and duty are at war, just like all of England. Annora is fighting for King Stephen, and Richard, for Empress Matilda. A union between them seems impossible. Does love stand a chance? Stephen is holding Annora's son hostage, so she must fight on his side, making her and Richard enemies even though they are both loyal to the Empress.

In this entertaining romantic adventure, loyalties are tested, and lines are crossed. Richard and Annora will have many challenges to overcome. I enjoyed this story and would recommend it to those who like medieval romance. I look forward to what this author writes next.

This is the last book in this medieval romance series . You can easily read each one on its own, I have read them all and thoroughly enjoyed each one.
We have two very strong and independent characters who see more than their share of battles. Even our heroine is a warrior, famous for her sword.
There are battles galore and a complicated romance.
Great fun.

Knight of Mayhem by Sherry Ewing is the last of four books about three brothers by blood and one brother by choice: Knights of Anarchy. This story is the one about the brother by choice: Lord Richard Grancourt, one of Empress Matilda’s most trusted knights. They have been under siege at Oxford Castle for months when they develop a plan to help the empress escape under the dark of night, all wearing while cloaks to blend into the snow. All is going well until a woman appears, innocently enough, going to relieve herself away from camp. Rather than let her ruin the plan, Grancourt carries her back into the castle until the others make their escape. When Stephen finally realizes the empress is gone, he drops the siege and makes only one demand: Lady Annora de Maris must be returned. By this time they have begun to act on the attraction between them, but between the fact Stephen holds her son and Grancourt is loyal to the empress, they are split up, hoping to one day see one another again.

Both go through plenty until the day they are reunited. Grancourt, always believing it would happen had never given up hope. Lady Annora was not as sure, but she had her memories. This was an exciting book to read. Even knowing the eventual outcome, the trails and tribulations were moving and worrisome. I know these stories are a far from accurate as they can get, but they are still a different time, and fun to read. Theses four men all found love with extraordinary, independent women and were proud of their wives. It is exciting, if unrealistic.

I was invited to read Knight of Mayhem by Dragonblade. All thoughts and opinions are mine. #Netgalley #Dragonblade #SherryEwing #KnightOfMayhem

Knight of Mayhem is the fourth book in the Knights of Anarchy Series. Unfortunately for me, I did not read the others in the series. I feel as if I missed a lot of great background story. The book is not lacking in any way, quite the contrary. For me, I prefer to start at the beginning of a series so I can enjoy it in its entirely.

Lord Richard Grancourt is tasked with aiding Empress Matilda's escape but stumbles upon Annora a warrior for King Stephen. In order to keep Matilda safe, he stays behind to keep Annora from ruining their plans. Unknown to Richard, Annora is on Matilda's side but is being forced to fight for King Stephen, Richard and Annora will have to find a way to overcome the obstacles before they can be together.

This was a rich and warm well written love story. I loved the dialogue and the characters. Annora is wonderfully strong who does not need to be rescued. She is also a very clever warrior in her own right. This is a quick afternoon read and worth reading.

I received an ARC from NetGalley for an unbiased review.

A great finish for the guys who were fighting for the Empress. They all find their happiness with women they meet along the way in their fighting.
Richard even had his sister to deal with.
I received an ARC from NetGalley and the Publisher and leaving a review by my own accord.

Love, hate, infatuation not worth losing your holdings or family over. Or is it. This story of stuggle honor, fighting for what you believe and fighting for the safety of loved ones. The struggle is very real and to get captured was not Annora's plan or Richard's as he must alter his plans with the Empress. A wonderful read, I can't wait to read the other stories now, as this was Sherry Ewing's first book I've read. Well done.

I would be in a difficult position if I had to choose my favorite book in the Knights of Anarchy Series. Each novel is rivetting and suspenseful, and the attraction between the main characters, sizzles. Richard has come face to face with the female warrior in King Stephen's army a number of times, but the last thing he expects when aiding Empress Matilda's escape is to stumble on the Viking shield maiden who has become his nemesis. When Annora inadvertently walks into the Empress's escape party, she is horrified at being taken captive by the blue-eyed knight who disturbs her dreams. As Richard discovers Annora's secrets, he vows to watch out for her in the future and to help her rescue her son. He also finds that she is every bit the strategic warrior he suspects and when the time comes to take back her home and the people she loves, he is right there with her. The novel closes with a heartwarming conclusion, and the next generation plotting their future. I received a copy of this book as a gift through Dragonblade Publishing and NetGalley and this is m honest and voluntary review.

The last of an amazing series, this final book takes a deep look at England during a civil war. The depth of historical information is truly amazing. Then you add the two main characters, Annora and Richard. Annora is forced into service in order to save her son and the people who are loyal to her. She's fierce and determined. Richard is a warrior who is to protect the opposing throne and the Queen who sits on it. It's important to read these in order as one story leads into another until you finish this last book. Fast paced and engaging it's super easy to immerse yourself in it and only come up for air once it's finished.
From an author with amazing writing skills, you don't want to miss this series.

This is a well written and accurately detailed love story. The characters were loyal, determined, strong-willed, and passionate. The drama, action, intrigue, and much more excitement and entertaining plot twists and turns kept me captivated. I enjoyed how love found its way, and in the end, it triumphed over every obstacle. I highly recommend reading!

I thoroughly enjoyed the final book in the Knights of Anarchy series. Set in a time when England was at civil war, I loved the history, the characters, and the story. Richard, a knight, is tasked by The Empress, Matilda, to guard an enemy knight who stumbles upon their group as they escape the siege of their castle. That the knight is a woman and she’s fierce isn’t lost on Richard. Lady Annora de Maris, forced into service for King Stephen to protect her son and people, is desperate to return to her ranks. These two strong individuals fight with each other and their attraction to each other.

Sherry Ewing captivated me from the beginning with her story and these knights. The characters are strong, protective, and well-written. The story moved quickly, and I couldn’t put the book down. Knight of Mayhem starts right where the previous book (Knight of Havoc) leaves off. It was wonderful to see the Norwood brothers again and catch up on their lives. To get the best understanding of the era in history and the overall story arc, it’s best to read this series in order. This is definitely a series I’ll read again.

Sherry Ewing does it again in the Knights of the Anarchy series, it had that element that I was looking for from the previous three books. The plot was everything that I was hoping for and enjoyed how good the characters were in this story. It had a strong overall feel and worked as a historical fiction element.
