Sadly, this book misses the boat regarding its assertion that war, inequality, and environmental degradation are a certainty given our present political system. Deterrence (MAD) has avoided nuclear war for 75 years now, and a strong military can deter conventional wars. The truth regarding inequality (both income and wealth) is for at least the past 125 years ALL measures of inequality have been converging in the USA and have NOT been diverging as John Macgregor errantly believes. Plus, as the rest of the world has been abandoning socialism inequality has been narrowing for the last 50 years. And finally, the real prices of almost all commodities have been in decline demonstrating that environmental overshoot has not been happening.
