Cleaning up my NetGalley account. Unfortunately, I had a few titles I could not get to before they were published. Should I read the title in the future, I will be sure to promote a review via my Goodreads and/or my blog. Thank you for the opportunity.
This alternate history where the might of Rome never fell is both entertaining and fun.. If you are a history buff you will get a kick out of this story where a roman legion arrives on the newly discovered North American continent only to find that what they though would be easy pickings proves to be anything but that.
Set in 1218 A.D. the wildness of what our land was and the mores of Rome and Roman thought, along with great characters make this well worth reading.
First in a series.
It was okay. There was a great premise in this and some great alt history work being done. You could see the exhaustive research that was done in this story, but after a while the story just stopped working for me. Fans of "What if..." and Rome are going to love this. I guess I'm just not one of those people.
Outstanding alternate history. Smale leaves the reader impatiently waiting for the sequel. In this tale, the Romans make it to the New World and encounter the Natives, who can FLY. This story offers a lot of fantasy, some romance, adventure, and a war story. Recommended for those who enjoy history and lovers of Rome.
