Overall I've really been enjoying this series, but this wasn't my favourite instalment. There were a few too many characters and although the twist could have been really good, I had actually guessed it very early on so it wasn't very dramatic.
I received a copy from the publisher in exchange for an honest review
Another solid caper in the series. It was nice to move off site but missed some of the the characters from previous books.
A good cozy mystery. When Amber and her friends go to spend a weekend at a luxury chateau. Until bodies start to show. Enjoyed this one. Book 3, but I wasn’t lost. Lots of characters and red herrings but enjoyed following the investigation. Would highly recommend this book and author.
Received this as an Arc Reader from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. This is the first book I read by Katie Marsh, but not the first in this series but didn’t feel like I was missing anything by not reading the other books first. This follows the Bad Girl Detective Agency on a weekend away for Ambers birthday but it all ends in disasters when people start dropping dead. I found there to be unnecessary plots points about the characters which didn’t add anything to the story. I didn’t expect the plot twist but I feel like it wasn’t weaved together well and ended up being kind of confusing for me. If the story had been fleshed out and maybe 50 pages longer then I feel it could have been better but without the unnecessary details about the characters and other storylines making it confusing to follow.
Life is too short to finish books I’m not enjoying so I’m DNF’ing this one at 35%. I am sure I’ll be the outlier in this one because others seem to love it.
Fitting Addition..
The third outing in the Bad Girls Detective Agency and the girls are looking forward to some indulgence and relaxation following an unexpected win. The location is remote, the castle luxurious and the chef world class - but, needless to say, something more heinous is just around the corner. Fun and frothy with a cast of nicely drawn characters and a pacy narrative. A fitting addition to the series.
*Murder on the Menu* was a fun and light mystery that had me laughing and engaged, though I feel like I would’ve appreciated it more if I’d read the first book in the series. The characters are great, and the plot is full of twists, but I did find some of the backstory a bit repetitive, which took away from the mystery a little.
Murder on the Menu is a mystery that was a fun time and got some good giggles! I’ll definitely have to reread this book after I read the first one but this book provided enough blurbs about the girls’ history so I didn’t feel lost. I think I just needed to read the first book to really fully appreciate this one. Aside from that some of the blurbs felt repetitive and cut into time the murder mystery plot could have been further delved into. I do recommend it if you're looking for a mystery with drama that was really fun to be in on.
The third in the Bad Girls' Detective Agency series, Murder on the Menu hits all of the same notes as its two predecessors: some light mystery and lots of exploration of relationship from friends, co-workers, family, murderers-victims, to all sorts of various combinations therein.
Isolated island, small group, storm raging, and murder! At least there is good food and open bar. Light and twisty mystery with a fun cast of characters and plenty of suspense, and guessing ...
Despite the murders I found this book amusing. The way the three members of the bad girls detective agency (all close friends) acted with each other and the descriptive writing made this a fun book to read. I had my suspects, but a twist later made me change my mind. After all can't be a suspect if you're dead! Various characters were given motives to put them in the frame. I enjoyed reading this book
I tried, I really tried... But it was just not for me. The plot is confusing, the characters stay flat despite a lot of unnecessary information about their background (I don't care whether a character has a lot of siblings who are only mentioned once and play no further role in the story) and there were a lot of very strange events. The three middle-aged (how come, middle aged? The lead character Amber is only 46!) women behave like twenty-somethings, run around without doing much except making the wrong decisions.
The first chapter was great though!
Thanks to Boldwood Books and Netgalley for this review copy.
This was so good!
I didn’t realise it was part of a series, but I certainly didn’t feel like I had to read the others first to understand what was happening. It was a great plot, very funny, and full of brilliant characters!
I’ll definitely be reading the others in this series.
Highly recommend.
Big thanks to NetGalley and the publishers for my ARC
This was an excellent read.....if you think you know who the killer is, you don't! The writing is wonderful and dramatic, with an amazing backstory of friendship and family weaved into the plot. I would highly recommend this book to anyone who loves mystery and guessing games. This was awesome!
This was another winner in the Bad Girls Detective Agency series, it had that element that I was looking for and enjoyed from the other book. I enjoyed the mystery going on and was hooked from the first page. Katie Marsh has a strong writing style and enjoyed the way the characters worked in this story. It left me wanting to read more as this was really well done.
#MurderontheMenu #NetGalley is the first book I've read by this author. This is the third book in the bad girl detective agency, and the unique trio of friends made this fun to read.
I liked how the story played out, and the red herrings kept me guessing.
Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for selecting me to read an advanced copy of the book.
I admit I chose this one as U liked the name. It’s the third book in Bad Girl’s Detective Agency and the first a I’ve read. I didn’t feel like I was missing anything by not reading the others first. Told from the pints of view from the three members of the Bad Girl’s Detective Agency- Amber, Clio and Jeanie.
It starts off big and keeps up the pace the whole way through. I enjoyed the locked room mystery component and the countdown of the clock. It certainly gave off Agatha Christie vibes. The island location and chateau made for the perfect backdrop and I enjoyed all the foodie elements.
There were quite a few suspects early on, some seemed a bit too obvious. I didn’t pick how things played out and enjoyed how things played out. I’m definitely keen to go back and read the first two in the series now.
Great read!! It was my first book in this bad girls detective agency series! What a book it was! It’s a cozy funny and a bit thrilling read! It had great suspense, intriguing, murder, fantastic mystery, and a few crazy twists and turns! The story was very interesting! I definitely recommend reading this book! Thank you NetGalley and the publisher for sharing this book with me!
Innovative and mysterious. Red herrings kept me guessing. Realistic characters kept the story moving quickly. This talented author has written a cannot out down mystery. Stopping before the end won’t be easy. Enjoy. Thanks Netgalley
Murder on the Menu by Katie Marsh is a thrilling addition to the Bad Girls Detective Agency series. The story follows a group of friends who band together to solve a murder, with one of them becoming the prime suspect. The mix of mystery, humor, and suspense keeps the pages turning, with plenty of twists to keep readers on their toes. The characters are engaging and relatable, making the story both heartwarming and entertaining. Fans of gripping whodunits like The Thursday Murder Club will find this book equally compelling and fun.
