This was a really beautifully illustrated graphic novel-style biography of Audrey Hepburn. Starting with her childhood growing up in Nazi-occupied Netherlands and ending with her charitable life’s work with UNICEF, this was an all black and white illustrated beauty of a biography. As someone who is not necessarily the biggest nonfiction or biography fan, this was a really fun and creative way to consume a book like this! I learned a lot about Audrey Hepburn I never knew before and I have a whole new respect for her as a person!

gorgeously drawn graphic novel. Some of the illustrations reminded me of the illustrator Al Hirsch. I learned a lot of about Audrey Hepburn, not realizing she lived through the Holocaust.

This detailed illustrated biography of Audrey Hepburn is wonderful.

Hofer did a gorgeous job of chronicling Hepburn's life in this novel. From her wartorn upbringing to becoming a breakout star, to motherhood and humanitarian efforts, Hofer covered it all. Before reading this, I did not know much about Hepburn and am so glad I picked it up. The information felt overwhelming at times, but the rich story of her life was enticing. Readers can feel her personality on the page and almost hear her voice reciting her dialogue.

My favorite part of the biography is the illustrations of her iconic photos. Readers can easily type in "Hepburn with Collette" or "Hepburn and her father" and easily see the photos the art is based on. I also loved the interview with her son at the end. It was the perfect way to end this biography. I only wish that adult illustrations weren't so scared of color, this would have been a knockout if it was in color.

A must-have!

An interesting tale about one of my favorite people of all time. What a beautiful person she was. Her story is told, but it can be hard to follow in this format. It would have been interesting to see what could have been if it was mashed with photographs and collage. Oh well, it misses the mark for me.
