Not sure why this book is in my queue because I didn’t request it and don’t have a copy. I have given it five stars but I haven’t read it.

Naji and the Mystery of the Dig by Vahid Imani presents an interesting premise but unfortunately falls short in execution. The story, which promises an adventure filled with mystery and historical elements, feels underdeveloped and at times, predictable.

While the concept of blending mystery with history is a good one, the plot itself often feels slow and lacks the suspense needed to keep readers engaged. The pacing drags in several places, and some scenes feel unnecessary or overly detailed, detracting from the overall flow of the story. Additionally, the mystery itself does not seem as complex or compelling as expected, leaving little room for surprise or intrigue. The thought clouds for conversation were empty throughout the book like nothing's happening if not for predictable pictures.
Unnecessary addition of instructions which have no worth. Synopsis is in itself a complete book then why writing 88 pages long graphic novel?

The characters, particularly the protagonist Naji, are not as well-rounded as one might hope. Naji’s motivations and actions often come across as inconsistent, making it difficult to connect with her. The supporting characters lack depth, and their roles in the story feel more like filler than integral parts of the plot.

Though the book attempts to educate readers with historical references, the way these elements are integrated often feels forced and doesn't flow naturally with the narrative. As a result, the educational aspects sometimes interrupt the adventure, rather than enhancing it.

Overall, Naji and the Mystery of the Dig has potential but doesn't live up to it. The story feels disjointed and while it may still appeal to younger readers looking for a light mystery, it doesn't offer much in terms of depth or excitement.

It's not my style of book but I am glad I tried it. It was an interesting story with fun characters.

The idea for this book is cool but this particular one isn’t working for me. I love the idea of creating your own story with your imagination, but this just wasn’t it. I would’ve liked a more whimsical and colorful book to do this with. This was very bland and boring.

Naji and the Mystery of the Dig is such a fun and creative twist on storytelling! It’s not just a graphic novel—it’s an invitation to craft your own tale. The plot is intriguing, and the blank dialogue bubbles let you become part of the story. I loved revisiting the original adventure and putting my own spin on Naji’s journey. It’s perfect for anyone who loves graphic novels and wants to flex their creative muscles. I had a blast imagining what the characters might say—it really made me feel like a co-creator of the story.

Hold the phone—this book is a totally new unique idea for a book or graphic novel! Imagine grabbing your favorite graphic novel and getting to write the dialogue yourself. That’s Naji and the Mystery of the Dig! I was ALL IN, scribbling quirky one-liners, epic comebacks, and dramatic showdowns right into the speech bubbles. Plus, the art is so cool it’s basically begging for your words. Seriously, you don’t just read this book—you own it. If you’ve ever wanted to be the boss of your own story, this one’s for you. 📚✨
