I loved the first book in this series, and I loved this one just as much. I honestly wasn't sure what to expect going into this but it was a really fun read with so many emotional moments. Ro was so relatable and reminded me a lot of myself at that stage of life, unsure and taking too much to heart. It was amazing to see her grow into a more confident character. Matty might be my favourite. He was so sweet and honestly broke my heart more than once when he was in his self doubt spirals. He really just needed someone to show him how much he has to offer, and I don't think it could have been anyone but Ro.
Seeing them support each other and grow was exactly what I wanted from this book. From the first few chapters, I was just so crushed seeing them both so down and they turned it around in the most beautiful way. I always love a healing journey, and this one was executed perfectly. It's the kind of story I know I will revisit before I'm even done reading.

I had high expectations for Unloved but it just didn’t hit like Unsteady did. I didn’t like that they were both so secretive about their families like an illness and death is a taboo conversation to have with friends. The plot really dragged in the middle and I think it could have been a shorter book. Ro and Freddy were very lovable characters and I’m glad they got their HEA ❤️
I like how we are starting to get to know Kane and Bennett more in this book and I’ll for sure be continuing the series!

This book was one of my favorites, the author knows exactly how to write a character you can see yourself in and sympathize with. This author is now one of my go to reads, she sets the pace of the books perfectly, it is never so slow I want to put it down but also not too fast that it feels like I'm not actually feeling anything.

This is the second book in the series by Peyton Corinne. Each book is both stand alone and a part of the series. You get more backstory about the other characters if you have read the first one. Rosalie (Ro for short) is initially hired as a tutor for matt "Freddy" Frederic, the left winger for the Waterfell Wolves, the same hockey team from the first book. But soon their chemistry is both on and off the books. Can bad boy Freddy tame his wild ways? Can Ro finally ditch her on/off again boyfriend and finally find the love she deserves? If you loved Unsteady, the first book then you have to continue the spice, and emotional rollercoaster that is Unloved!

Special thanks to @peytoncorinneauthor for sending her book to NetGalley. I was able to receive a copy in exchange for my honest opinion and review.

Another great entry in the sports romance category! He thinks he no good for anything but what his body can do. She’s been wounded by a toxic ex who made her feel undeserving and too much. Friends to lovers with lots of yearning. I’ll definitely go back and read Unsteady with its interwoven timeline and be on the lookout for more books by this author.

Tropes:
College hockey romance
Friends to lovers
Slow burn
Athlete x tutor
Mental health
Neurodiverse MMC

This is book number 2 in the Undone series, and Peyton delivered another emotional & angsty read.

Matt(Freddy) and Ro start out as friends & she ends up tutoring him. Both of these characters have their own battle and struggles that they are going through The most beautiful friendship forms between these two MC's and they end up really showing up for one another in situations they both need it.

Freddy is going through it, and really, he has been since he was a kid. He has an emotionally abusive father who only sees his worth through hockey. He also grows into this man who believes people only value him for his body. When Ro starts to unravel the layers of Matt, she really steps up for him in the deepest of ways with his learning disabilities.

I really enjoyed the overlapping of timelines with Sadie & Rhys story, and if you loved Unsteady you will love that about this read.

This was one of those reads that was so angsty & tension filled that I couldn't seem to put this book down. I absolutely love the depth and complexity she writes into her characters, and the tension and slow burn into their love was so painfully worth it

Matt “Freddy” Fredderic can always be counted on for a good time, at a party, on the ice, in the bedroom and everywhere in between. He is a star wingman on his college hockey team, and already is signed to the Dallas NHL team for when he graduates. But his graduation is at risk, he is failing a few classes, and his dyslexia, dyscalculia, and ADHD is to blame. He gets a new tutor who will hopefully help him get to graduation.

Rosaline "Ro" Shariff has been a longtime lover of romance novels and a hopeless romantic. She is Matt's new tutor and committed to helping his succeed and pass his class. She is stuck in an emotional abusive relationship with her on/off again boyfriend Tyler. Matt was her first kiss before her freshman year and they spent an amazing night together but he doesn't remember it, while she has never stopped thinking about it.

They strike up a friendship, where they support, and encourage each other. They are able to see beneath the fronts they both put up and help each other gain confidence.

This book felt so so so healing. The love, tenderness and understanding between the two characters was so lovely and heart warming. The build up from tutor and student, to friends, to lovers was so beautiful. They were so patient with each other, their chemistry was so tangible and electric. The author did such a wonderful job with having the characters face real issues, but have light moments. The exploration of both characters supporting the other through healing while treating each other so delicately. This book was a knock out.

4.25 ⭐️ A huge thank you to NetGalley for this advanced copy!

This book absolutely destroyed me in the best way. I really liked Unsteady, but Unloved? It hit so much harder. Peyton Corinne took all the emotions from book one and cranked them all the way up, delivering a gut-wrenching, beautiful story about love, self-worth, and learning to let people in.

First of all, Matty deserves the biggest hug on the planet. Maybe even two. His story absolutely wrecked me. The way he carried so much pain and self-doubt while trying to hold everything together?!? It hurt watching him struggle in silence. Especially when it felt like no one around him was really seeing him. In Unsteady, Rhys’ friends showed up for him hard, but Matty? He was drowning, and his friends were too caught up in their own mess to notice.

-> That said, the little drops of information about the other players on the team has me very interested in their stories! I need more about Kane & Bennett!

Then we have Ro, and god, I loved her character arc. Her growth, her realization that softness and femininity don’t make her any less strong or capable... Especially after being told so for two years. It was so satisfying to see her fully embrace who she is. And her and Matt?? Perfection. I love a good friends to lovers romance, and theirs felt so earned. The slow burn, the way they saw each other and showed up for one another, the way they just fit together, it was everything!

Also, can we please talk about how well this book weaved into Unsteady? Seeing the same timeline unfold from a different perspective made everything feel so much deeper, like puzzle pieces clicking into place. Peyton Corinne knew what she was doing with this, and I ate it up! I really loved getting to see the same scenes in a different light.

I loved this book. I loved Matt. I loved Ro. I loved how Peyton Corinne made me feel everything. This was so worth the read, and I already know it’s going to stay with me for a long time. Looking forward to the rest of the series!

I didn't read Unsteady and but I was thrilled to dive into Unloved. Instead of a direct continuation, this book runs parallel to the first, so you are not lost even, if you didn't the first one.

Tropes & Themes
💞 Friends to Lovers – Built on trust and quiet love.
🔥 Slow Burn – So much tension and longing.
💔 Toxic Relationship – Rosalie’s journey to self-worth was frustrating but real.
💖 He Falls First – Matt is down bad from the start.
☕ Acts of Service – His little gestures (like her chai!) melted me.
🏒 Found Family – The Waterfell hockey team is everything.

Rosalie and Matt’s relationship was pure. Their connection felt deep and unshakable, built on kindness and trust. Matt’s patience and quiet devotion made him an unforgettable hero, and when Rosalie finally stood up for herself (and for him), it was incredibly satisfying.

The only downside? Tyler’s presence dragged on way too long, and the lack of real consequences for certain characters was frustrating. But when Ro and Matt finally got together, it was worth every second. And the five-year epilogue? Absolutely perfect.

Despite some pacing issues, this book was emotional, tender, and beautifully done. If you love slow burns and soft, devoted heroes, read this.

Huge thanks to NetGalley for the ARC!

4.5 STARS

If this is what all slow burn romance is then I am gonna eat every freaking crumb!
Rosalie & Matty, my beautiful beautiful darlings. I am so sorry but these are my favorites now!

'Unloved' took on a much different approach than 'Unsteady' did, and while both stories have heavy subject backstories, I found that this went a slower and softer route compared to the deep & raw one from book 1. I think this needs to be pointed out and APPLAUDED because this shows such care for writing and tone in a story (Especially for different characters in a series) and I adore when authors do this - plus it shows off their skills, wins all around.
The emotional dept and growth in this book made me ache. The fact that I could relate to these characters in many of their most vulnerable thoughts and spirals, definitely had me in tears at points. Seeing two characters who are the definition of loveable doubt their worth so much, because of terrible people is heartbreaking. However seeing them become friends and fall in love and heal from one another & heal together is .... it's healing in a way. Especially when you have experienced things like them.

This was actually the first arc I have ever highlighted and stopped to really repeat and process quotes in the book.
Unloved has instantly become a top book of the year for me, I will be staff picking this and highly promoting this. Unloved by Peyton Corinne deserved ALL THE LOVE!

Bonus: I also have SUCH an inkling about two future couple (one couple being Bennett & Paloma) in the series & I desperately need to know if it is happening or not. BOOK 3 WHEN ARE YOU DROPPING?!

A sweet romantic read. I really enjoyed it! So much that I went and purchased the first book of the series.

First of all thank you to netgalley for providing me this arc.

I was SOOO excited for this book. i absolutely gobbled unsteady and to see the glimpses we got of ro and freddy in book one got me so extreme hyped for unloved, that i knew i could not bare to wait 1 month. i needed to read this now so thank you again netgalley.

Now to start off i do want to highlight my confusion - i spent way too long trying to figure out if ro from unloved was indeed Aurora from unsteady. the name change through me off sO much that even tho it clearly was the same person with the same experiences and info, my brain just could not comprehend the name change for aurora to Ro. - full name rosalie- i felt like i was going insane for the first few chapters until i let my brain accept this new change. (but h am still confused) especially since Matt calls her princess AND AURORA would be PERFECT anyways it’s fine i was just confused

anyways other than that confusion - i REALLY loved and enjoyed this book. this is such a solid series so far and it does such a good job of making you interested in the next book by dropping little easter eggs of possible fmc and mmc in the next books. i also love how these books are more than just a fun quick fuzzy fluffy fun feelings read. they go a bit deeper with different real life problems and i really enjoy that.

I loved Freddy and how thoughtful he was. i loved Ro and how much she cares and putting them both together made them so freaking cute. the friends to lovers was done very well and didn’t feel rushed or unrealistic.

i wish we had a bit more chapters of the aftermath after “the confrontation” as i am going to call it at the end other than freddy and ro just being proud of each other for doing it. i feel like in this case freddy’s storyline was a bit unfinished but i guess in a way i understand why it is but i still find myself wishing we had more resolution.

anyways — The ePILOGUE? had my heart oh lord that was so stinkin cute.

i do think sadie and rhys are my faves and it will take a lot to dethrone them but i still love Freddy and Ro<3

all in all i really enjoyed this one! i can’t wait for bennett and paloma’s book and hopefully tristan and the red head? idc who i just want tristan’s book tbh ahaha either way this is a series i definitely recommend.

*ARC Review*

I had to take a day after finishing this to figure out my review…

This book had some strange gaps and holes, or chapters that just ended - and the next chapter was a day or two later. I was also disappointed that the shitty people didn’t really get the karma owed to them, despite the entire book feeling like a setup for a big takedown. There seemed to be unanswered questions, even after finishing this.

That said - I stayed up way too late reading this, and could not put it down. This book was a slow burn - I don’t think they get together until around the 70% mark - but I’m a slow burn fan most of the time so I liked this. Matty and Ro were perfect for each other, and I was rooting for them.

This followed the same timeline as Unsteady - high can be annoying at times since you’re revisiting a scene you’ve already read about - just from another POV. I imagine the next book in this series will be the exact same.

Speaking of the next book - it has to be Bennett and Paloma, right? I want a Toren book too please!

So yeah - this book had issues, and is not going to top my end-of-year list, but I was able to lose myself in it - which is why I’m giving it 4⭐️

Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for providing me with an ARC.

I identify a lot with Ro: her desire for new experiences in university but not knowing how to achieve that goal and her feeling of loneliness because of busy friends. It makes her a realistic character. Her loyalty is admirable and it’s clear that she loves with her whole heart. Freddy is an instant green card for me. I mean he has such a playboy reputation, but the fact that he is instantly a better person towards Ro than Tyler is a win in my book. He doesn’t let his reputation turn him into a jerk and he allows himself to feel raw and genuine emotions with Ro. It was also nice to see dyslexia representation because I have it too and I connected with him in that way. I loved that we got moments with Liam and Oliver because they are so adorable. I didn’t know if I would like this book to take place at the same time as Unsteady, but I don’t mind it. I think it’s because Unsteady doesn’t really go in too deep in the overlapping parts and Unloved doesn’t repeat what was already shown in Unsteady.

Very nice short book! Had a fun time reading this on vacation and was just what I needed on the beach

I recently heard about Peyton Corinne on the Fated Mates podcast for their best of 2024 list and quickly devoured both Unsteady and Unloved. If you are a fan of Elle Kennedy or Sarina Bowen's new adult sports series you will definitely want to pick up this series. And a surprise to me, sometimes Tiktok is right! Corinne crafts great characters and gives them the chance to grow on page which was refreshing to read. Can't wait to read about the rest of the characters in this series.

'' You would be really easy to love''

I give rarely a 5 stars, 5 stars book means the book nearly destroyed me, marked me, or just gave me those feelings that I couldn't ignored.
Unloved gave me the ''Say you Swear'' vibe. I would 10000% recommend this book.
I got addicted on page one, I loved the story.

I love how Matty respect his friendship with Ro ? her timeline of acceptance, he doesn't push her and her feeling, I love the way he's so attentive with her, the way he noticed her favorite drink and buy her the drink even when she didn't asked for it, even Tyler couldn't remember, how hard is it? LOL

I really loved when Ro stood up for Matty and his earning skills or when she discovered other of his secrets and still defended him, she's protective over him and of him it's so sweet.

Ro and Matty has a relationship everybody wants, I envy that. But for now, you should really add this book to your TBR once it's out.

Cheers,

Freddy is shinning hockey star but barely passing with a 2.0 GPA in school. Ro is a hopless romantic with a horrible bf and Freddy's new assigned tutor. Can two people with complex issues find love?

Freddy is such a terrific boyfriend. So sweet , caring and understanding. Ro grows throughout the book with Freddy's help. Such a sweet romance.

Thanks to the publisher for the arc.

I really enjoyed Unloved by Peyton Corine! It was the second book I read in the series, and I loved how it tackled mental health in Rosalie’s relationship. It also did a great job showing how tough school can be for someone with learning difficulties, which felt really relatable.

I thought the relationship between the characters grew in such a natural way—it made me want everything to work out for them. Their personal growth and how they evolved as a couple was so well done.

Honestly, this is a book I’d recommend to everyone. It’s such a meaningful and enjoyable read!

university finals <<< reading an emotional masterpiece

MY VERY FIRST ARC EVERRRRR AHHHHH.

today at 10:30am - sees email that I’ve been approved and starts reading IMMEDIATELY
same day at 10:30pm - is done the book. 🥰🤪🥲🥹🥹😭🥰

Those who have read Unsteady should expect the same and very tender emotional depth in Unloved. I loveddd it! I knew I was going to love it and it did not disappoint!

Freddy is a loud soft boy and Ro is a soft loud girl, and together, if they trust each other and themselves, they are everything! Tears will be shed and smiles will shine brighter than the sun. It takes them both a long time to come to terms with what they think they deserved and what they actually deserve and it’s painful and fulfilling to watch, makes you think there remains to be hope for the rest of us!
