In the first book in Sarah Hope’s new cozy romance series, readers meet Laura, who is turning her life around as the new owner of the Pennycress Inn in Meadowfield, a village in the Cotswolds. However, the inn is in need of a lot of repairs, from dangerous woodwork to loose roof tiles, and the locals in Meadowfield are surprisingly unfriendly, even bordering on hostile. As she negotiates with her new home, her new neighbors, and her struggles with her family, Laura must find out if her handsome chef neighbor Jackson is too good to be true, given her past luck. With a fun cast of characters and a charming village, readers will love this fun new novel for its adventures and whimsical atmosphere. Laura is a relatably flawed and complicated protagonist whose struggles will resonate with readers, as will her desire to make something of herself and her life. Her relationships with her relatives are particularly charming as they evolve over the course of the novel, and her relationship with Jackson is, of course, charming and heartwarming despite them getting off on the wrong foot. With all the classic cozy rural romance tropes, readers will love the rural whimsy and charm of the Pennycress Inn and the locals in Meadowfield in this fun new release.

This is a heartwarming story of a woman trying to start her life over after her divorce. She buys an inn that has seen better days and attempts to fix it up. She discovers her brother’s best friend is her neighbor. It helps to find a friend in a less than welcoming community. After a few things are cleared up, she find new opportunities and beginnings.

Welcome to Pennycress Inn by Sarah Hope is a heartwarming and charming story about starting over and embracing new challenges. The protagonist, Laura, is at a crossroads in life—feeling stuck after a divorce and living with her parents at thirty-eight. Determined to prove herself, she takes the leap and purchases the crumbling Pennycress Inn in the picturesque Cotswolds village of Meadowfield, hoping to rebuild her life.
However, as Laura begins the daunting task of restoring the inn, she quickly discovers that the path to a fresh start is far from smooth. With the inn in disrepair, unsupportive locals, and even some mischievous sheep causing trouble, Laura finds herself questioning her decision. Luckily, she has the help of the charming chef, Jackson, but as the story unfolds, she begins to wonder whether he's too good to be true and why the villagers are so hostile.
Sarah Hope's debut novel is filled with warmth, humor, and relatable struggles. Laura’s journey to rebuild both the inn and her life is an uplifting story about resilience, new beginnings, and finding unexpected support. The blend of quirky characters, beautiful settings, and the tension surrounding the inn’s restoration makes Welcome to Pennycress Inn a delightful and engaging read for fans of feel-good fiction and small-town charm.

I enjoyed this read i liked the main character and understand her Struggles. I love a friends to lovers romance, and also super cute village a nice read.

Laura was a divorcee who has decided its time for a change. She buys an old inn in the Cotswolds with the intention of doing it up and bringing it back to life.
Unfortunately for some reason the villagers of Meadowfield are really not very welcoming, she cannot get any workmen or any supplies, the only friend she has was Chef Jackson, a long term friend of her brothers. Whe.n she cannot get the workmen Jackson volunteers to help her with the jobs and she starts to get the business ready to open but things get difficult when old buried feelings start to bubble up.
I really enjoyed this book but would have preferred if the Estate Agent was held up for her actions but the story was good and I really loved the Sheep.
A very enjoyable read with very engaging characters, I love stories about bringing old building back to life, Will definitely look forward to reading the other stories are coming in the series.

Welcome to Pennycress Inn by Sarah Hope is a lovely book that offers an escape into a heartfelt romance between an innkeeper and her next-door neighbor. Set in the Cotswolds, it radiates the cozy charm of a picturesque village in rural England.
The book highlights the importance of a close-knit community, family bonds, self-discovery, and healing after a major breakup without disrupting the reader’s enjoyment. With a well-built, seamless plot that keeps readers hooked, the story is further enriched by emotionally deep, standout characters.
This book is perfect for those who enjoy warm, small-town romances with themes of love, healing, and personal growth.

This was my first time reading a book by Sarah Hope, and I really enjoyed her writing style. It was quick and easy to read, so I would love to try more of her books. However, this particular book just wasn’t for me. I had a hard time connecting with any of the characters, and the romance felt sudden and lacked chemistry.
The story follows Laura, who decides to buy an inn after divorcing her husband and moving back in with her parents. Despite knowing nothing about running or renovating an inn, she is determined to prove to her family that she can do it on her own. Upon moving in, she discovers that her brother's best friend lives next door, and it’s easy to predict what happens next.
My biggest problem with this book was how whiny Laura comes across. At 38 years old, her desperate need to prove herself to others feels unrealistic. The entire narrative revolves around her complaining about wanting to handle things herself. I might have been able to overlook this annoyance if the romance had been better, but to me, it just wasn't convincing. I believe many readers will enjoy this clean, closed-door romance, but it simply wasn’t for me.

First time to read a book by Sophie Mackall for me and I am so happy I give this author a try! To be honest I was drawn to this book by the lovely cover! And then I opened this book and right away I enjoyed the characters, the atmosphere, the storyline and couldn't wait to read more! Like all the readers (i suppose) I was surprised by the coldness of all the villagers that the main character encoutered and wanted to know why this was happening. Also I loved to read about all the challenges the main character was meeting. I found her sometimes a bit too childish and infuriating and wanted to shake her. And let's be honest, I LOVED the main male character!!! oh I would love to have a neighboor like that if I was single! hahaha! what a sweetheart!!!
I am giving this book 4 stars! I could have given 5 stars to it but the main female character was a bit too infuriating to me!

The novel's blend of heartfelt emotion and light-hearted humor has resonated with many, pulling readers out of their reading ruts and inviting them into Laura's world. With vivid descriptions of the idyllic setting and relatable character arcs, "Welcome to Pennycress Inn" promises not only an enjoyable read but also a sense of community among its characters. Laura is trying to show her family she can make it on her own. She bought Pennycress Inn and wants to make a go of it. It seems things keep breaking in her new Inn though, and then she finds out her next door neighbor is her brother's best friend. What a fun read this was! The characters are quirky in this lovely place and the antics are laugh out loud funny.

Laura wants a fresh start at success and happiness, so she buys the Pennycress Inn. This book made me think of Gilmore Girls in many ways. Warmed the heart to read this sweet book! Thank you to NetGalley and Boldwood Books for a copy of this book for an honest review.

Laura’s story and the first book in a brand new series.
A really good storyline with a touch of romance which kept the reader entertained . Memorable characters and a great sense of community eventually !
Heartwarming, hilarious and pure escapism, loved it and cannot wait to read more of this series
Thank you to Netgalley, Boldwood Books and Sarah Hope for letting me read this book in exchange for an honest review

This was a sweet love story, featuring Laura and Jackson.
Laura is sick of being the sibling who hasn't got her act together, so in order to make a fresh start for herself, she buys an inn, as you do. Pennycress is gorgeous but it needs some work. And it has a neighbour in the form of Jackson, someone she knew in her younger years and had a mad crush on, which is a little disconcerting. But what is going on with the villagers of Meadowfield?? Why are they so awful to her?
I enjoyed the story and even though it was a little bit predictable, it was a nice way to while away a few hours.
4 stars from me.
Thank you to NetGalley and Boldwood Books.

What a great start to hopefully a new series. Laura takes a chance, makes a big life decision and ups sticks and buys an Inn. Coming across not so friendly locals makes her question herself, she can’t think why she’s offended anyone at all so sets about changing their minds. A familiar face brightens her spirits and awakens old feelings.
A delightful, funny read. Romance, drama and a community feel. I will definitely look forward to catching up with some of the characters we met this time around.

I received an ARC of this book from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
This was a cozy, delightful book that I enjoyed reading!

Welcome to Pennycress Inn is a sweet read that left me feeling happy. I really liked Laura, the protagonist. Laura wants a new start after her divorce so she decides to follow her dream and open an Inn, but it isn't an easy job and she wants to prove everyone (and herself) she can do it. I like seeing a character who, despite her insecurities and doubts about her abilities, knew what she wanted and pursued it, even when everything seems to be going from bad to worse. It's refreshing to read a story where the lead isn't in her twenties but rather someone more mature and relatable.
Initially, I struggled with some of the supporting characters, particularly Laura's family and the townspeople, who came across as rather rude and insensitive. However, the story's saving grace was Jackson, the love interest. His kindness, patience, and empathy provided a lovely counterbalance to the challenges Laura faced, making the romance both sweet and fulfilling. The story’s happy ending left me with a warm feeling.
This was my first time reading Sarah Hope's work, and I thoroughly enjoyed her writing style. Her ability to weave a heartwarming narrative with relatable characters has certainly piqued my interest. I'll definitely be seeking out more of her series in the future.
Welcome to Pennycress Inn is a charming romance that I'd recommend to anyone looking for a story with heart, depth, and a happy ending.

I really don't know what to say. This was one of those books that you pushed through because you want to know how it ends but you never really connect with the story. The FMC is a bit wishy-washy & annoying. Not fully sure I know all the reasons I didn't like it it much but I definitely didn't.
