So-Hee and Lowy is a cute nearly wordless picture book. So-Hee suffers from allergies, but desperately wants a pet. Her mom lets her get a pet snake, BUT in true snake form, the snake is a bit of an escape artist. In between trying to track her snake down, So-Hee also has some great times with it. I love the way this book presents the realistic nature of snakes as pets (many species are actually very calm and docile, although they will take opportunities to go adventuring), which also addressing the fact that many people still fear them. The illustrations are absolutely adorable and I think young readers will be very drawn to the story.

This is a book that would be great for preschool or kindergarten age children!

This was fun and simple. Not really any plot but the art is cute and it has a cute end note. I feel like sometimes non-plot stories are fine, and sometimes they don’t carry themselves with just cute vibes. This was the former. Cute but very lukewarm.

Absolutely love this story!!! It is definitely a must buy for my library. This heartwarming story about a girl and her unconventional pet will have you feeling so warm inside. The author includes so much in so few pages, with a highly allergic only child main character who feels alone at the beginning of the story, building a friendship with a adorable snake (and I'm really not a snake person), and through this pet finding human (and Tortoise) friends as well.

This is a charming book about a girl and a snake. I don't know about some children, but when I was younger, I was terrified of snakes (and I am still somewhat scared of them today!). So this book may be good to read to children who are terrified of snakes. It could potentially teach children that snakes really aren't as scary as they seem. Furthermore, this teaches children about animals. and also important life lessons about friendship. I also must say that I found the illustrations to be delightful and eye catching.

This book was so helpful with explaining differences with each other, As a professional School Counselor it was easy to use and process allergies, not feeling like they fit in and be included! Love it!

This story had really cute illustrations but the story didn’t flow very well. Yes it’s meant to be simple but it should feel connected. It needed a few extra sentences to connect why So-Hee now had friends.

This was a very cute book!! The illustrations are very pretty and I love the pets that aren’t your typical ones! I also love that it came full circle at the end to show she wasn’t alone and she made a friend with a common interest - that could be called out a little more obviously!!

Kid review: I liked that one. I have a special pet too.
Mum review: this was a nice story about a little girl who starts off lonely, but gains a dear pet snake and a bit of a community. I thought it was nicely told and had good illustrations.

Very cute. Story is fun, funny, and engaging! Artwork is bright, colorful, and helps move the story. I would love to see further adventures with the snake. Maybe even a chapter book.

I am a 37 year old woman who is bawling her eyes out because So-Hee made a pet-friend, who helped her make human-friends.

This was so adorable! I especially loved the illustrations!

Everyone deserves a pet-friend and love!

This picture book tells a cute story about a little girl with allergies who finally finds the perfect pet... a snake! The book celebrates their bond and shows the snake as being a fun and special companion, and then the girl also makes friends with neighbors towards the end of the story. I felt that the story's ending was too rushed, but it's a very cute book overall.

S0-Hee is an only child and longs for a friend, especially a pet. However, she's allergic to almost everything! One day she meets, Lowy, a sweet little snake that seems like the perfect pet best friend.

This is such a cute little story and perfect for young readers. Lowy's face is also the cutest little snake face I've ever seen in my life. Lowy does get out at one point which can feel a little stressful, but it all works out in the end (even with new human friends!)

The illustrations are so cute! They feel fresh and classic at the same time.

So-Hee and Lowy, written by Anna Kang, is an adorable story about a girl with no siblings and very few friends. She always wanted a pet to hug, but the problem was that she was allergic to everything. One day, So-Hee finally gets her dream pet—a snake named Lowy. The story follows their life together and the small challenges they face. In the end, she even makes a few friends. Check out this book to find out how she overcame her challenges and made new friends.

I absolutely loved the illustrations in this book. They are super cute, and I’m sure kids will love them too. As a single child myself, I’ve always wanted a pet, but because of my mom's allergies, I was never able to have one. This story was very touching for me— As I could personally relate to So-Hee’s life and see myself in her.

Thank you, NetGalley, for providing me with the ARC of this book.

This was an adorable read, with very cute art! So-Hee, a very allergic little girl, finds Lowy, the pet of her dreams and convinces her parents to adopt her. From then on, they become best friends and go on many adventures together.

I think this book is perfect for children with allergies who hope to find that special pet one day. It's also a great choice for children who simply love snakes!

“So-Hee and Lowy” is an adorable story about unlikely friendships and unusual pets. It’s perfect for young readers, with its charming illustrations and heartwarming focus on companionship. However, it reminded me of Allergic by Megan Wagner Lloyd, where a girl navigates her allergies to find the perfect pet. While So-Hee and Lowy is a bit more child-friendly and leans into the theme of friendship, it shares a similar narrative of finding connection in unexpected ways. Fans of stories about perseverance and unique bonds will enjoy this sweet tale.

A very allergic girl finds her best friend in the form of a ball python. This helps her find friends and neighbors. This is a book about gratitude and companionship.

Thank you so much to Two Lions and Netgalley for the ebook to read and review.

So-Hee has lots of allergies, she has no friends, no siblings and no pet. Until she finds Lowy a giant snake, who becomes her best friend and pet who she does everything with, until he disappears.

This was such a fun read, I really enjoyed this one. Little So-Hee was so lonely and found herself the perfect best friend though others around her were certainly scared of it. It was so sweet that she did everything with him and finally found a friend.

The illustrations were so adorable to look at seeing her playing with Lowy and seeing where he really was when he had disappeared. I really enjoyed spending time looking at all the pictures.

A very wonderful read about loneliness, and how a friend can arrive unexpectedly and in a manner you wouldn’t always think it would. A book I would recommend to young children it’s such a fun read, and unlike other books out there.

So-Hee is an only child who doesn't have siblings or friends, but does have major allergies. She desperately wants a furry pet despite this, and one day comes across a perfect new best friend: a snake named Lowy! So-Hee and Lowy do everything together, until one day Lowy goes missing. Will So-Hee find her? And will she make friends along the way?

The story is heartfelt (and a great way to destigmatize snakes/reptiles for children!) and the illustrations are so vibrant and engaging.
