A very allergic girl finds her best friend in the form of a ball python. This helps her find friends and neighbors. This is a book about gratitude and companionship.

Thank you so much to Two Lions and Netgalley for the ebook to read and review.

So-Hee has lots of allergies, she has no friends, no siblings and no pet. Until she finds Lowy a giant snake, who becomes her best friend and pet who she does everything with, until he disappears.

This was such a fun read, I really enjoyed this one. Little So-Hee was so lonely and found herself the perfect best friend though others around her were certainly scared of it. It was so sweet that she did everything with him and finally found a friend.

The illustrations were so adorable to look at seeing her playing with Lowy and seeing where he really was when he had disappeared. I really enjoyed spending time looking at all the pictures.

A very wonderful read about loneliness, and how a friend can arrive unexpectedly and in a manner you wouldn’t always think it would. A book I would recommend to young children it’s such a fun read, and unlike other books out there.

So-Hee is an only child who doesn't have siblings or friends, but does have major allergies. She desperately wants a furry pet despite this, and one day comes across a perfect new best friend: a snake named Lowy! So-Hee and Lowy do everything together, until one day Lowy goes missing. Will So-Hee find her? And will she make friends along the way?

The story is heartfelt (and a great way to destigmatize snakes/reptiles for children!) and the illustrations are so vibrant and engaging.

Thank you to NetGalley and the author for providing me with a free eARC in exchange for an honest review.

I love the premise behind Anna Kang’s picture book, “So-Hee and Lowy,” and illustrator Christopher Weyant did a fantastic job of illustrating it. I’m sure that this book will resonate with a lot of children that don’t have siblings.

I received an ARC of “So-Hee and Lowy” by Anna Kang from NetGalley and Two Lions in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own.

This book is so sweet and a pure joy to read! The plot did a lot for this story - it was simple, clear, defined, and organized nicely. Readers can easily see that there is a beginning, middle, and end and it allows them to follow So-Hee on her journey with ease. As for the story and its premise, it was amazing! This book accurately illustrates the importance of selective friendship, and how it takes time, effort, and fate to find your true best friend. In this story, one thing leads to another, and these things lead to a beautiful happy ending.
Bravo!

What a lovely book about a girl with allergies as she finds and cares for her own pet. It's great to see not only diverse representations in the characters but also a pet who is not typical, a snake! Not only that, the snake is pictured and portrayed as a playful and loving companion instead of the typical fear often seen in books with snake characters. I love the found friendship in her neighbors at the end.

The illustrations in this book are lovely and engaging. Lots of little hidden characters and animals for little ones to point out.

As a mother and the owner of a reptile store I am obsessed with this book. This is so absolutely darling. The wholesomeness that is So-Hee's love for Lowy is amazing. And her mom just allowing her to get a snake because that 's the pet she chose is perfect. We loved the illustrations and the vibrant colors. And the story line is easy for kids to understand, my seven year old was even able to read some of it to me! I cannot wait to add this to our home collection and maybe even have some in my store.

This was adorable. I loved the illustrations. This would be perfect for any child but especially for a child who feels left out due to pet allergies. I especially love the community aspect of the neighbors, maybe the next book could include some of them!

So-Hee is lonely. She really wants a pet, but is allergic to furry critters. What will she do? She finds a non-furry pet: a snake she names Lowy and they are the best of friends, but then Lowy disappears! On her search for Lowy she finds some unexpected things and people in her apartment building. The illustrations are very cute and it's a sweet story about thinking outside of the box and being open to new things.

Thanks to Anna Kang, Two Lions, and NetGalley for an eARC of this book for an honest review.

I really enjoyed this book, it is a wonderful story about friendship and differences and has a really positive message - as a mum I thought it was spot on!

I loved the way that the story was written, it was easy to follow and had a great flow. The characters are great and the illustrations in the book were spot on and brought the story to life. My daughter read the book to me and had no issues with the wording, she really enjoyed the story and has written it down in her reading journal for school.

My daughter is at Primary School and has recently had a day on anti-bullying where they were encouraged to wear odd socks to embrace the fact that everyone is different and unique in their own way, and this book was a great read for us as a follow up to that and it is really what the story embraces and celebrates too - I will definitely be recommending this as a book that the school looks to get a copy of as it will be great for talking points.

It is 5 stars from me for this one - very highly recommended!

The standout here was the illustrations. The story was very cute too, but a little disjointed at parts.

I loved this wee tale of finding authentic friendships where you can be your true self. Find friends who match your energy, even if it's a snake! Well, that's not exactly the lesson here, but I loved the message that would make people less alone. Kids can feel really left out when they are different — physical, biological, mental, or even personality differences. This was a great tale affirming that human connection is still possible, no matter how much you feel like you don't belong.
What took the cake for me was the illustrations – so vivid, so vibrant, so on-fleek.
