Perfectly Wedded is a lovely story for friends-to-lovers, marriage of convenience, hockey romance, and small town lovers! I enjoyed Sloan and Vale's friendship and the inevitability of them revealing their feelings for each other. This is a feel-good, friendship- and family-oriented story where you can't help but cheer for the characters. The characters all endeared themselves to me and I look forward to reading more of their stories.
Thank you to Xpresso Book Tours for gifting me with an ARC to review. All opinions are my own.
Absolutely brilliant book!
I am a big fan of this author and love the writing style!
I cant wait to read more!
This book is told from dual points of view and is part of a larger series. While I haven't read the other books, I never felt lost or out of place, as each installment in the series focuses on a different romance. It’s marketed as the first book in the series, but it isn’t technically the beginning, as the two main characters' siblings have already married each other in a previous book.
I really enjoyed the dual POV, as it gives readers a glimpse into both characters' thoughts and emotions, making the romance feel more real and relatable. The story centers around a marriage of convenience, but it’s clear from the start that these two characters are meant to be together. Their connection grows naturally, and their chemistry makes for a sweet and engaging romance that keeps you hooked throughout.
I received an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.
I liked this book a lot.
I enjoyed the Marriage of convenience at first and it did genuinely feel like Sloan and Vale were friends first.
I didnt really understand why their brother and sister went on the honeymoon with them because I dont think it really added anything to the story but I did enjoy reading about the honeymoon.
It was a fun romance and a speedy read
I wish I could say I liked this book more, because I was really excited to read it because of the blurb, but it just didn't work for me. I liked Vale, but I didn't feel I really knew him and I didn't feel a connection to Sloan at all. She felt very immature and it didn't feel like she had grown at all. I know her character was supposed to be impulsive, but it didn't come off that way, just immature. This felt like a couple where he was going to be giving his whole life and she would be taking, and not just because of her illness. Now my not liking this book might all be because I am battling a bad cold, so maybe my foggy brain just didn't connect and if that is the reason, I apologize for this review. 3.5 stars.

I adored this book! Perfectly Wedded is the first book in Grace Worthington’s Perfect Crush Hockey Romance series. This is the first book that I have read from her and it will definitely not be the last. This was just too cute!
I really felt for Sloan as she tried to make sense of her life and deal with her health difficulties because of the accident she had suffered. She was strong but she was struggling to carry the weight of everything on her own. It was sweet to read about her learning to trust Vale and letting him into her life. She had liked him for a while but she had to learn to break down her walls.
Vale was such a big teddy bear for Sloan, he would do anything for her. I loved getting to know him and seeing him fall more in love with Sloan. He had to learn to let her in too and see that they were a team. He had to work through his own fears and it was sweet to see how they connected.
The romance was sweet and perfect! I loved reading about Vale and Sloan realizing their feelings for each other. Marriage of convenience is one of my favorite tropes and Worthington wrote it so well. The side characters were a lot of fun and I need to read the other books now.
I would totally recommend Perfectly Wedded! It was just what I wanted to read! The characters felt real. Perfectly Wedded is a closed door romantic comedy.
I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book which I received from the publisher through Netgalley. All views expressed are only my honest opinion, a positive review was not required.
I devoured this book in a couple of hours. Very easy to read through and immediately fell in love with the characters. Vale not even hesitating to marry Sloan so she could get the medicine that helped her illness. I relate more to books like this where the main character isn't the typical "perfect" person and they have something going on that the love interest accepts them. Books like these show that everyone deserved to be loved! Definitely will recommend!
Tropes:
Friends to lovers
Marriage of convenience
Fake marriage
What a fun and cute story!
I loved the main characters, side characters and the tropes.
I enjoyed the banter and the flirtation between the mmc and the fmm. Their relationship was sweet and I loved seeing it grow into love and an HEA.
If you are looking for a cozy read that you will devour in one sitting this is it!
Closed door romance with dual POV between Vale(Hockey Player) and Sloan(College Ice Skating Coach) who are friends to lovers who then have a marriage of convenience in Vegas so Sloan can get better health insurance(which I found realistic in today's economy).
I enjoyed this book but I had a few issues with it.
1. Sloan discusses her relapses of her TBI but never really what that looks like or explain what it means other than she doesn't want it. This book had an opportunity to discuss what invisible disabilities can look like for people but instead it fell kind of flat.
2. A quick google search says that AHL(American Hockey League) players say that members must make a minimum of $52,000 a year(some could make more, obviously but I don't think it's that much more). Vale continues to act like money is no object(Tiffany Ring, discusses how he has tons of money but rents a room?) I'm not implying 52K is something to sneeze at but it's very much implied that Vale has tons of money and can fix Sloan's problems.
Let’s face it ladies if it has a hockey man on the front I’m going to read it it’s like a magnet.
I enjoyed this cute little read, marriage of convenience. Friends to lovers.
These tropes are cute especially when they both have been pining after each other for so long not knowing the other has always felt the same.
This is t the first book and I haven’t read the first one but it didn’t take away from the story and never effected the read
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

This is a protective cinnamon roll hero meets chaotic pixie contemporary romance with lots of slow burn. LOTS of slow burn. A maddening amount of slow burn. It's been a long time since I've read anything marketed as a "clean" romance, and I have to say that I wasn't really a fan. The book has a lot of buildup and what feels like no payoff. I was hoping at least for a wedding night scene. (Maybe I've been reading too much extra-spicy romance?)
What I liked:
Vale: Despite his name (which made me cringe about 75% of the time I read it), he is delightful and well-written. He struggles with communicating with Sloan for understandable reasons. What I don't understand is why he doesn't talk to his twin brother about what's going on with him! However, Vale is lovely, patient, and sweet. He's a protective cinnamon roll, and I love that in a hero.
Sloan: I don't think I really understood her as a character. This may be since this is the second book in the series, which I was not aware of when I received the ARC. She comes off as one-dimensional and confused, and I'm not exactly sure why Vale fell for her in the first place.
Overall, this was an okay book. I would go back and read the first book in the series for context, but would not read this one again, and am not likely to read the rest of the series.
Thanks to Netgalley, Poets and Saints Publishing, and Grace Worthington for providing the ARC in exchange for an honest review.
Tropes: Hockey romance, he falls first, marriage of convenience, fake dating, fake fiancé
I found the story to be good and enjoyable, but I felt that the other characters took up way too much space in the book. While this wasn’t a huge issue, it sometimes distracted from the main storyline.
That said, the story itself was realistic and entertaining, with enough charm to keep me engaged. I’d still recommend Perfectly Wedded for anyone looking for a light, enjoyable read!
This book had such a cute marriage of convenience, but they were secretly in love the whole time. Grace wrote a sweet found-family that definitely made the book! And the way Vale calls Sloan “my wife”… this was definitely a sweet, easy read!
ARC Review:
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
After sustaining a traumatic brain injury in an automotive accident, Sloan’s life is turned upside down. To the untrained eye she appears healthy and completely healed. Unfortunately, Sloan is left with several long-lasting physical side effects. With a cure for her persistent ailments just out of arms reach, her friend and roommate, Vale, concocts a plan to get the experimental medication she desperately needs. Will the pair follow through with the illegal ruse, or will their conscience and hearts stand in the way?
After reading her latest novel, Perfectly Wedded, I am convinced that Grace Worthington holds the secret to penning the perfect romantic comedy!!! As a loyal fan, I have read seven of the eleven books she has published. Not only have I enjoyed each and every one of them, I have rated ALL of them four stars or higher.
Earlier this year Worthington released The Roommate Remodel. In that book she introduced us to the Carolina Crushers, a semi-professional hockey team. I instantly connected with the side characters, Sloan and Vale, and couldn’t wait for their book to come out.
While Perfectly Wedded picks up where The Roommate Remodel left off, it can be read as a standalone. This is a sweet, closed door, hockey romance. It features popular tropes such as marriage of conscience, forced proximity, and friend-to-more. The best way I can describe it is a mashup of the movies The Proposal and What Happens in Vegas with a pinch of hockey magic.
You don’t want to miss out of this amazing love story! It is available for purchase on Amazon or Grace Worthington’s website.
Special thanks to Netgalley, Poets and Saints Publishing, and Grace Worthington for allowing me to read this book in exchange for my honest thoughts.
I really liked the setup of this story: best friends Sloan & Vale (love the names!) who have been secretly in love with each other for years get married in Las Vegas to get Sloan the health insurance she needs. They decide to keep their ‘fake wedding’ a secret to everyone, to avoid any leaking to the press or otherwise and tipping off the insurance company.
Sloan feels very insecure because of her medical issues, but she also has abandonment issues. So she prefers to run off so to speak in order to avoid getting left behind. This heavily influences her relationships. So although she is secretly in love with Vale, she constantly pushes him away and keeps coming up with reasons to keep him at arms length. And Vale was so careful not to scare her away with his feelings for her… It was so funny to read about them tiptoeing around each other, trying to hide how they felt about each other, all the while having to deal with all these situations that pushed them together!
I have to admit, at some point I felt a bit exasperated with Sloan; felt that she could have shown more faith in her best friend Vale, who has always supported her and had her back. But I guess getting over deep trauma’s takes time. And it did make the story realistic. Vale seems to be the perfect husband; he’s incredibly patient and loyal and kind to her.
At times, I do think that both Sloan and Vale could have taken more control over their lives. Brax and Jaz both practically taking over their diaries; spending your honeymoon with your in-laws; being pressured into a media publicized wedding - I would never agreed to it if I didn’t want to do it. But it makes up for funny scenes in the book.
It was a fun story to read. The characters were genuine, real and I liked the character development. I really liked that it was a clean story and that the focus is on the couple, their emotions and their feelings. Kudos to the writer for that!
Thank you Netgalley and Poets & Saints Publishing for providing an advanced copy of this book. I voluntarily read and reviewed it; all thoughts and opinions are my own.
"Perfectly Wedded" is a best friends-to-lovers, marriage-of-convenience hockey romance. The premise sounded fun, as I'm always on the lookout for more best friends-to-lovers stories, but unfortunately, this one just didn’t click for me.
I struggled to connect with the characters, and I couldn’t feel the angst, longing, or chemistry between the leads that’s usually a hallmark of this trope.
Sloan’s health issues, apart from the memory problems at the beginning and a single blackout, weren’t explored enough to raise the stakes or create emotional impact, which left the story feeling a bit flat.
The plot dragged on longer than necessary, and I think it would have worked better as a shorter book.
Overall, this one just wasn’t for me, unfortunately.
Sloan and Vale are roommates and good friends. When Sloan finds out her new medication isn’t covered by her insurance Vale offers to marry her. Very cute story about a couple coming together and discovering love. Sweet and no spice.
Loved this hockey romcom. It's cute and you can tell the author really gave a lot of time and effort to perfect the details. I was really impressed by the accurate depiction of the hockey player and his characteristics!
I started this right before bed two nights ago and that was a big mistake. I could not put this down. I was immediately hooked by the first chapter.
The tension and longing between Vale and Sloan was perfect. I’m a sucker for a good marriage of convenience and I loved the way these two loved each other even before they admitted it to the other. Vale helps to make Sloan feel seen and important even through all her insecurities.
The strong sense of family throughout this book was a favorite part of mine as well!
This is my first book by Grace and I really enjoyed it. I do wish I would have read the series that comes before this one because I am interested in seeing Brax and Jaz’ original story. The Renovation Romance series is definitely being added to my tbr!
