Charlotte and Penelope wake up one day with sniffles, too sick to play with their friends. Being eager and social girls, this makes them a little sad.

However, their group of animal friends decide to cheer up the girls by putting on a show.

This is a really cute story with quite a few rhyming names for each character. I loved how each animal character played a different instrument and it all came together in a great show. I thought Lil Hardshell was particularly cute. I thought the playbill at the end was a very cute nod to theater and would open a conversation with young readers about what a playbill is, how theater works, and could lead to a interest in theater.

The book is easy to read, but there are a few names that will require help from a more advanced reader. The story flows nicely, and the illustrations are really pretty. It's a great book for anyone child who is home sick and needs a bit of imagination to feel better.

This was a very cute story about a diverse group of animal friends putting on a performance for their sick friends. With its many rhymes, it'll be sure to entertain young readers!

Also, I thought the playbill at the end was absolutely adorable.

When their friends are too sick to come out and play, the neighborhood comes together and creates a get-well performance for them in their yard. It's a great demonstration of helping others when possible and showing love to those you care about.
