I really enjoyed this audiobook by Richard Estep. This one has lots of interesting information about multiple cases, some of which I had heard before and others new details. I like that it was a quick chapter about each case without getting too much into the gritty details but more looking at cause for the actions. A great read or listen for any true crime fans.
Thank you NetGalley and RBmedia for the audiobook for review.

This was a very good book. I liked the narrator and the stories flowed smoothly. I will definitely be listening to this book again and buying.

The narration of the book was actually pretty good SOME of the stories that was told was good the the rest was ehh! The book has potential to be alot better! While listening it seems even the narrator was bored or even tired of reading them!.

Such a good book I really enjoyed the different information on the different cases and killers and the fact that even though they basically did the same thing the reasons why and methods and the cases were all different

Family, Friends And Neighbors by Richard Estep and narrated by Perry Daniels. This is a mixed collection of true crime stories from the very famous to the more obscure but all are committed by those they knew. From family annihilators, vengeful wives and neighbors who fell off the deep end I found this book extremely interesting historical True Crime is my favorite in the head a good amount of those in this book that’s not to say I didn’t find the Menendez brothers John list and others just as interesting but no matter what your jam is they have 38 stories, so there’s bound to be something that grabs your attention. Not to mention the stellar narration by Mr. Daniels I thought he did a great job and would definitely listen to another book narrated by him.#NetGalley,#High bridge audio, #RichardEstep, #PerryDaniels, #FamilyFriendsAndNeighbors,

This was my second time listening to an audiobook by the same author, Richard Estep, I really like the way he explains the story, he doesn’t really dwell in the gruesome details nor exalt the criminal hands that did the crime, he exposes the facts, and doesn’t let his own bias come through, and that is refreshing… I did know some of the cases told here, they spam from many years to a couple of years ago, some of the criminals died long ago, while others are still in jail…
what makes someone kill their own flesh and blood? The author doesn’t really give you the why, but tells you mater of the fact what the police uncovered, some had mistresses, others wanted to throw a party… yeah there’s lots of reasons, do they make sense? I don’t think so, but in the mind of the person behind the crime, yeah it did sense for them…
this was a great performance from Perry Daniels, he had one of those voices great for podcasts, he was telling things mater of fact, in fact I think I want to listen more genres from him, I want to see how he reads a book in fiction, but I really enjoyed this narration, kept me on my toes, wanted to listen more. I really recommend this audiobook for fans of true stories, true crime.
Thank you NetGalley and HighBridge Audio, for the free ARC and this is my honest opinion.

As this is the first book of this type that I read, I'm not quite sure how to approach rating and reviewing it. If I compare it to a youtube video or a podcast, which tend to focus on a single case at a time, the book feels lacking. The description of the stories feel simple and clinical. Very to the point, without much imput from the author. One could say it lacks flavor? There's also a lack of details regarding the murders, although depending on the person that might be a good thing. The author also doesn't propose theories for those cases that aren't quite cut clear (not his per se, just the common case theories regardin who might have done it or how things happened)
But as this book doesn't focus on a single case, unlike youtube videos or podcasts I have to say that a great amount of research went into the book considering the author recopilated the insane amount of 35 cases. The book is not super long, but had Estep delved even a bit deeper into each case the book would have ended up being like 600+ pages long, which might put people off. I also think the fact that the shortness of each retelling might be a positive point for those that enjoy a short side read before going to sleep.
Regarding the audio, the voice actor has a pleasant enough voice, it's deep but not super deep and it has a nice neutral accent that makes it easy to understand what he's saying without being distracting. He doesn't put a lot of emotion onto the reading, but I guess that might be how non fiction books are narrated?

I didn’t expect the stories to be so dated. I feel bad even writing a bad review because the narrator sounds like my grandfather. I couldn’t get into stories from the 1800’s. I was hoping for some quick hitting stories and then on the the next.
